Chapter 38 - Max and Julia reunited.

The case has been withdrawn."" Yes, Chief," the director replied. Max sat in his limited edition Rolls-Royce with a cold expression. "Sean, who is the idiot that dared to send you to the police station? Was it the man who just left?" Max ignored Sean, took out his cell phone, and placed a call. "Make William's business disappear from the city before dawn." Often, the most unpretentious revenge is best served cold.

Julia arrived at Georgina's house, her heart pounding with desperation. Georgina was not at home. She tried calling her, but Georgina was not taking the calls. Julia left frustrated, and she went back home.

Meanwhile,  between Sean and Max, after his release,  he has been bombarding Max with questions and wouldn't let it slide. He turned to Max and asked again, who is that guy?

Max put it succinctly, "My wife's ex-boyfriend." Sean understood immediately. "Ah, now it makes sense why you were so furious.

This guy doesn't know what he's gotten himself into." Max's eyes darkened. "He crossed a line, Sean. Julia is my life, and anyone who threatens her will face the consequences.""So, Max, what's the plan now?" Sean asked, leaning against the car.

Max took a deep breath. "I'll go back to Willow Garden first. Julia must be worried sick. I'll leave William's downfall to you."

Sean watched Max drive off before pulling out his phone. He had work to do. William, the ex-boyfriend, had opened a business, and his family owned a struggling factory. Both were barely staying afloat. Sean intended to ensure they sank completely.

William's dark history abroad was a goldmine of scandal. He had double-crossed clients and bribed officials. Sean began compiling the evidence." Once this gets out, his family will be finished," Sean muttered. "Max wants William to suffer, and that's exactly what will happen."

Max arrived at Willow Garden, his mind racing. He found Julia pacing anxiously in the living room. The moment she saw him, she rushed over." Max! Are you alright?" she cried, wrapping her arms around him."I'm fine," he murmured, holding her tightly. "It's all under control." Julia pulled back, looking up at him with concern.

Just then he leaned in and kissed her passionately. He felt himself losing control,

Julia was swept away by Max's romantic and intense kisses, responding instinctively to his touch. Just when the tension between them was about to ignite into a full blaze, Julia's cell phone rang. It was Georgina. The sudden ringtone snapped Julia out of her daze.

She pushed against Max's chest, gasping, "Wait..." Max, fired up and ready to take things to the next level, felt as if a bucket of cold water had been dumped on him. Frustration and desire warred within him as he pulled back. Breathing heavily, Max tried to compose himself.

The man who always had control now found it slipping through his fingers. Julia quickly got up, avoiding his gaze as she answered the phone, "Georgina!""Julia, what happened? I saw a few missed calls from you and rushed back," Georgina's concerned voice came through.

Julia glanced at Max, who had stepped back, looking composed but still visibly affected. She didn't want to worry Georgina, so she lied, "I wanted to bring you some fruit, but you weren't home, so I called.""That's it?" Georgina sounded relieved. "I'll be home soon.""Okay, be careful on the road.

"After ending the call, Julia turned to Max. "Where are you going?"Maxsmiled wryly. "I'm going to take a shower."He needed to cool down, and Julia understood, blushing deeply. She also decided to freshen up, splashing cold water on her face to steady her racing heart.

Ten minutes later, Max emerged from the shower, dressed in casual home wear. Julia, now sitting on the sofa, couldn't stop blushing when she saw him. His well-built physique and handsome features made her heart race." Max," she asked gently, "how did you come back? I went to the police station for bail, but they said they couldn't release you. How did you manage to get out?

"Max offered a half-truth. "My cousin Sean had some connections and sorted it out.""Oh, I see. I have to thank your cousin," Julia replied, though her worry wasn't entirely eased. "Is everything really settled? Has William withdrawn the case?"

Max nodded. "The case has been withdrawn.""But why? Did he demand compensation or make things difficult for you?" Julia asked, concern etched on her face. Max smiled reassuringly. "No, my cousin handled everything. It's all taken care of.

Max and Julia sat on the couch, Max still holding her close. Sean's call interrupted the quiet moment."It's done," Sean reported. "William's business and his family's factory are finished. His dirty secrets are out. "Good," Max replied.

"Thank you, Sean. "Julia looked at Max, confusion and fear in her eyes. "Max, what are you talking about?" Max took a deep breath. "Julia, William has been targeting us. He's trying to ruin us to get back at you.

"He's jealous and vindictive," Max explained. "But it's over now. He won't bother us anymore."

."He approached Julia slowly, trying to distract her from further questioning. "It's late, you should get some rest." Julia, still worried, let herself be led by Max's gentle touch. His closeness, his warmth, and the assurance in his voice made her feel safe. As they settled into the night, the tension from earlier still lingered, but so did the bond that had grown stronger between them.

"Meanwhile, William returned to his office, news had reached him of Max's release, seething with anger. He couldn't believe how quickly things had turned against him. But he wasn't done yet. He had one more card to play. Later that evening, as Max sat in his office, his phone rang. It was William." Enjoy your little victory, Max," William said. "But this isn't over. You and Julia will pay for what you've done." Max hung up, a cold smile playing on his lips. "We'll see about that, William." As the night wore on, Julia and Georgina worked tirelessly to gather the resources needed to fight back. They reached out to old friends, called in favors, and slowly but surely, they built a case strong enough to stand against William's threats.

A week later, Julia, Max, and their legal team faced off against William in court. The evidence they had gathered was damning, and it became clear that William's accusations were baseless. The judge ruled in Max's favor, dismissing the case. William's face turned red with rage as he stormed out of the courtroom.

Outside, Julia and Max embraced, relief washing over Julia. "We did it," Julia said, tears of joy streaming down her face." Yes, we did," Max replied, holding her close. "And we'll continue to stand strong, no matter what comes our way." William, defeated and humiliated, yet again vowed to retaliate.
