Shawn's pov;
" Un". I turned to look at her.
" Do you see him? Let me look myself".
" I did see him,but,". I hesitated, contemplating whether to tell her or not. I don't want her to panic and at the same time,she has a right to know his condition.
" But what?". She started panicking again.
" Although he's unconscious, He's safe for now and doesn't have any physical evidence of being tortured any way but he's, I can see a timer on his chest. It seem that a timer bomb is on him". I watched as her face went wild.
" Then what happens now?". She whimpered. I felt hurt seeing her like that.
" We have to defuse the bomb before the timer runs out". I said and rubbed her back gently,it would make her relax.
" We should be able to call the police now, right. They should come and help us defuse it".
" It would take at least 10-30 mins before the police gets here,but we only have 9 mins left".
" What? Doesn't that mean there's no hope?".
" I can give it a try and see if I can defuse it within that time".
" You? Isn't that death sentence. You could die".
" I promised to save him and I will. You know the way back, right,go wait for us outside".
" Why? What if something happens to you? I'll stay here with you, I'm not going anywhere". She sobbed.
" Nothing will happen ok? I'm pretty good at defusing". I smiled.
" You can still laugh, you could die soon. Anyway, I'm not going anywhere".
I didn't want to put her at risk but at the same time, I know how she must feel so I can't forcefully send her away.
' I just have to work harder and save them both. I won't let anything happen to either of them'. I sighed.
" Ok, I'll start now". It's a good thing that I carry my bags with me all the time so I didn't have to go back to the car. I took out my tools and got to work.
This kind of bomb is difficult to defuse because all the wire color are the same, you could get the wrong wire and detonate the bomb directly so I had to be careful.
I spent 5 mins studying the wires to figure out their properties and the one I should cut first. By the time I found it, there was less than 4 mins left.
Xandra was good and didn't disturb me. I quickly got to work and cut the first wire,it didn't detonate, I was right. I sighed in relief. I did the same to the other wires and cut them.
But when it got to the last two wire, I couldn't decide which was the right choice because they were too similar. I couldn't decide which will detonate the bomb and which will save us.
And there was less than a minute left,56 seconds to be exact. I took a deep breath and studied them again, still nothing.
30 seconds,20 seconds,10 seconds,5 seconds,4 seconds,3 seconds. I decided at that time to take a gamble. Before the timer could reach zero, I cut one of the wires. The timer started beeping.
It seemed I failed. I covered Xandra's body with mine expecting the bomb to detonate. I wanted her to have as minimum damage as possible.
But there was nothing, even after 1 minute, nothing. It was supposed to detonate immediately I took a wrong step,why then hasn't it detonate? Could it be that this bomb, it's another version that takes sometime to detonate. Or,did I successfully defuse it?
I waited for 5 mins but nothing happened.
" Was it successful?". She asked weakly. She must have been freaked out when I jumped at her.
" I think so,it was supposed to have detonated by now". She sighed in relief.
" Ah, that's good. Then we are safe now".
I could hear suppressed footsteps coming from behind us.
" Not necessarily". I smirked.
" What". I took out my pistol and shot him before he could get close.
" Ah ah ah". She jumped on me fretfully.
" It's okay. Don't be scared, I'll protect you". I patted her back and peeled her off me to shot the other guy closing up on us.
" Stay here with Nelson while I take care of them,ok?".
She nodded. " Will you be fine?".
" Of course, I'm more capable than you think". I smirked and left the room. I closed the door behind me but there wasn't a lock so I just guard it myself. I didn't leave the door.
I tried to take care of them as quickly as possible and went back to her.
" Let's get out of here right now". I carried Nelson on my back and made for the exit while she followed behind me.
When we got outside,we couldn't find that bastard's car. I knew it,it must be him. They kidnapped Nelson, I hissed in anger.
" I can't find Alex, could he be in danger?". She asked looking everywhere for glimpse of his car.
" I doubt so. He must be very safe. We should go to the hospital, alright?".
" I don't want to go to the hospital. Do you think he has to go there? Is his condition that severe?".
" No,he will naturally wake up after sometime".
She sighed. " I don't want him to go to the hospital. He hates it there,we always go there any time something bad happens,so,he hates it very much".
" It's okay. I can take you home".
