Lexi's pov;
I felt someone pulled me from behind. I fell on my butt. When I opened my eyes, the car already sped by.
I turned to see who was it that just saved my life and I saw no one, strange.
" I wanted to say thank you but you ran away". I muttered while trying to stand up.
I realized I hurt my knee and it was bleeding. I went back to my car and used the first aid box( Max always kept one there).
< Nelson's resumption day>
Today is Nelson's first day in school this session. He's going to a new class. I woke up early and made breakfast before going to prepare him for school. I dressed him in his new school uniform and wore him his new backpack. Infact, everything he was wearing that morning was new.
" Un, yummy".
" Really, I'll make you something even more yummy for dinner,ok?".
" Yes Mom".
I drove him to school and pulled up in the school garage.
" Cutie, I wish you luck on your first day in your new class". I said as I kissed his forehead.
" Thanks Mommy. I love you". He hugged me.
" Mummy loves you too,so much". I smiled.
When we came down from the car,he hugged me and refused to let go.
" I'll miss you too cutie". I stroked his hair. " Now be good and go to class".
" Yes mummy".
" Then, I'll leave first".
'Now that Nelson has resumed school, I can't just sit home doing nothing. I'd be bored to death. I need to find a job'. I thought as I drove.
Then my eyes caught a fashion designing shop poster. They seemed to be looking for employees. " Perfect, just what I want". I grinned as I parked my car.
I followed the directions and got to the shop.
Everyone was busy doing their own work. A middle aged woman came to me.
" Welcome to Col's Designs, how can we help you?". She gave a polite smile.
" I, actually, I'm not here to buy anything. I want to work here". Her expression turned into a surprised one. She's probably thinking I was dressed too expensively to be a worker here.
" We are not in need of new employees for now".
' how could that be. I clearly saw the poster asking for female employees, could she be judging me because I don't seem fit enough for the job?".
" Actually ma'am. I can work well. I'm very good at knitting, I've been doing it since I was young. I'm sure I'll do a good job".
" Hmm, alright. Come with me". I followed her through the doors and passages till we got to a door where it was written in block letters ' COL'S DESIGNS MANAGER' she knocked and after hearing a,' come in', she pushed the door open.
The office was a moderate one with the walls pasted with different designs. There was a table in the middle of the room with a laptop on it. A man who seemed to be in his early seventies was sitted behind the laptop typing away when we entered.
" Have a seat". He said raising his head up.
We sat down in the two armchairs in front of him. He kept staring at us like he was expecting us to state our purpose and the woman beside me seemed to understand him well.
" Sir,this young lady came by and said she'd like to be working here". The man looked at me.
" Actually sir, I was a full-time house wife and it could get pretty boring and depressing so I decided to take a job. Especially since knitting is what I love doing".
" Was?".
" Uhm,yes. I mean,my husband left this world two weeks ago". Tears started to form in my eyes both I was aware enough not to let it fall.
" I'm so sorry about that". The lady patted my back.
" I'm sorry I reminded you of a painful memory.
" It's ok".
" You're obviously rich. And you sound very educated. You could have gone to a big company to get a job. Why come here?".
I swallowed.
" Since I was young, I've always liked creative arts. Knitting being one of the major ones. It's what I love and do often. And when I saw this place, I immediately liked it and wanted to knit for Col's Designs. I would appreciate it very much if you would give me a chance to work here".
He smiled.
" Interesting. Start work now".
" Alright sir. I'm all ready. But what time do you close?".
" 6:00pm any problem?".
" No not at all. I was just wondering if could close 4:30pm my son closes from school at 5:00pm and he would fret if he doesn't see me".
" It's ok. As long as you are not behind schedule in your work".
" Definitely sir. Thank you so much".
" The name is Adrian. Adrian Cole. You can simply call me Cole". He took my hands in a handshake.
" Alexandra Kim".
" I'm Mrs. Morgan and it's nice meeting you". She shook my hand too.
" Same here Mrs. Morgan. You can just call me Xandra". I smiled.
" Ok then. Let's get you to your office". She grinned. She took me to a room containing only two people. A guy and a lady.
" Mrs. Morgan". They said simultaneously as we entered.
" You have a new partner". She stated.
" Wow, really. Is that her?".
" Yes".
" Hi, I'm Xandra".
" Alex". The guy said curtly and continued with his work.
" Lisa". The female worker said as she came to give me a big hug.
I chuckled. I love her free nature.
" Then I'll leave". Mrs. Morgan left us to ourselves.
" You're gonna love it here, Xandra". She dragged me to another section of the room filled with wools of different types and colors.
She picked out some green wools and made me choose my knitting pin.
" Let's see what you've got". She said as she pushed me down a seat and dropped the materials on the table.
I looked at the guy but he was so concentrated on his work that he wouldn't even look up. As if reading my mind, Lisa answered.
" That's how he is don't mind him".
I started the knitting. I decided to knit a cardigan. She already gave me the measurements of different pieces of clothing.
" Wow". Lisa said without her mouth agape.
" What happened?". I asked looking at her but that didn't affect my knitting speed a bit. I probably can even knit with my eyes closed.
" You're extraordinarily fast. I can't believe you already almost finished such a complicated cardigan style". She was ogling me.
" Knitting when you are not even looking, incredible". She added.
I chuckled.
" You know, I've been knitting now since forever. It's part of me". Alex looked at me for the first time.
" What!". He couldn't help exclaiming at my knitting speed.
" Why are you both making a mountain out of a molehill. Let's just work". And with that we all started knitting silently.
