Chapter 365 - Chapter 365: Aether: In the End, It’s Still Not Enough, More Effort Is Needed!

In a certain sense, actually, if we're talking about it:

When ordinary gods step into the realm of God-King, they are merely entering this level. However, some God-Kings are inherently special. The masters of the Underworld, the Sea, the Heavens, and the Earthly Realms are naturally unique, born as the most extraordinary God-Kings. Their essence is entirely different from those who simply reach the level of God-King. This fact is indisputable.

Beyond these, the most unique of all God-Kings is the God-King of the Star Realm. Aether himself is an incredibly special God-King. Although his divine power is not considered strong, as he forcibly ascended to the level of God-King, his potential is enormous. It's even said that Aether holds a tiny, albeit extremely slim, chance to ascend to the level of Ancient God. Even if this chance is minuscule, it is still an astonishing feat.

For ordinary gods, even stepping onto the path of the God-King is almost impossible, let alone reaching the level of an Ancient God. But for Aether, it's different. Not only has he already entered the God-King level, but he also has a tiny chance to step into the Ancient God level, even if it's just a glimmer. That tiny chance is the crucial factor!

It's akin to why Spartans are envied by many gods. The reason is simple: Spartans are born with the potential to step into the God-King level. Even if they do nothing, over time, they will easily reach that level. And this potential is one of the most important foundations.

Potential is key, and this is the most fundamental thing. Because of this, over millions of years, although Aether has been searching for the Fire of the Sun, his divine power has visibly increased. He is indeed still slightly weaker than the Fire of the Sun, but the gap is no longer insurmountable; it's now something that can be bridged in a short period.

Aether and the Fire of the Sun. These two God-Kings' endless divine power wildly spreads in all directions, as if they are trying to burn everything to ashes and expand the boundaries of the Star Realm without limits. The two seem to have entered a stalemate.

Ceres, Karl, and Moirai, the three Underworld God-Kings, merely watched the scene unfold in front of them, making no further moves. From beginning to end, they remained calm.

"Aether has grown stronger," Ceres remarked.

"Indeed," Karl replied. The two exchanged a few words with a sense of emotion.

There's no denying it. Ceres and Karl could clearly see the difference in power. In the end, the gap was there.

Both Ceres and Karl knew that, fundamentally, they had no potential, or more accurately, no qualifications, to touch the power or potential of a God-King. However, due to the Underworld's arrangements, they were the most suitable candidates. Thus, they seized the opportunity and entered the God-King level.

Even after having been God-Kings for millions of years, their growth in divine power has been minimal and weak. But this weak growth is also quite normal, at least for them. Ceres and Karl are very aware that they never had the qualifications to become God-Kings in the first place. Even though they forcibly ascended to this level, progressing further remains an extremely difficult task.

To put it simply, it's like someone with a natural level cap of 90 being forcefully raised to 100. While others only need a small amount of experience to go from level 100 to 101, you would need ten times, a hundred times, or even a thousand times more experience to level up. This is entirely normal.

Because of this, Ceres and Karl were very clear about their own situation. They understood their potential was limited, and just becoming God-Kings was nearly their limit. Pursuing anything higher? That was nearly impossible.

So, the two Underworld Gods were well aware of their roles. They might hold the title of Kings of the Underworld, but aside from trying their best, their main responsibility was serving as high-level enforcers.

Enforcers? That's about right.

The two Underworld Gods were very clear on their roles, which was different from Hypnos and Thanatos, who were responsible for managing everything. Aether, on the other hand, had enough potential. As for them, they were simply good at fighting, so in critical moments, their job was to engage in battle.

Moirai silently observed the ongoing battle, thinking to herself, "Aether's growth has been much greater than mine. I need to work harder."

As a composite deity, Moirai had achieved an unparalleled feat, becoming a God-King. Even among the God-Kings, she was not weak. However, this also meant that her future path would be extremely challenging. Composite deities, compared to ordinary gods, have unique difficulties.

In the Underworld's current lineup of four God-Kings, and counting future additions like Spartans and Mephisto, among the six God-Kings, Aether is the only one with the highest chance and potential to progress further. As for the other Underworld Gods, it's clear they do not possess such potential. This shows what the Underworld's future might hold.

Similarly, in Aether's battle with the Fire of the Sun, the difference between the two God-Kings was evident. The gap was real and fundamental.

After a long time, Aether felt the strain of fighting against the Fire of the Sun's power. With a touch of helplessness, he softly murmured, "In the end, it's still not enough. No, it's far from enough. A small gap in power is a gulf as vast as the heavens."
