While they were childhood sweethearts, they grew up as friends and later developed feeling for each other but were scared to ruin their friendship so none of them ever confessed.
They separated when they went to different universities, Jiang Cheng had gone to study abroad and she stayed and studied in their country. It was when he came back from abroad after he graduated he heard from his mother that Su Li was going on a blind date.
Su Li had waited for him, but because she didn't know about how he felt, she decided to listen to her mother and went on blind dates. Jiang Cheng had confessed to his mother that he loved her and if she married another man then she should know that she would lose her daughter in law.
Jiang Cheng had made it clear to his mother, that he was going to marry no one if it was not Su Li. His mother was overjoyed since she always saw Su Li as the daughter she never had. The same night he told his mother, his mother called Su Li's mother and at the end of the week they had gotten their marriage license.
Later on, when they held a wedding, Su Li didn't want a big wedding. She wanted it to be only family and friends, which was why many people in the office knew she was married and had a child, but they didn't know who her husband was.
"I know, I know I was wrong, okay." Jiang Cheng said seeing her still crying.
