Hugo, Mint, and Zoren lingered a little longer to discuss other matters. However, they eventually left without deciding who to approach about putting someone in charge of the Zorken Family. It wasn't something they could just postpone—they had to consider it thoroughly. Perhaps even consult Charles and Haines.
Once they were gone, Penny sat behind her office desk.
Opening the drawer, she let out a shallow breath. She pressed the inside surface, hearing a soft click. Beneath the hidden compartment was the book containing the code. Right beside it was a gun.
"I said all that, but it's still a little scary to be holding something this dangerous," she muttered, picking up the gun she had kept for a while. She held it up to her face, studying it for a moment before placing it on the desk.
