Before the Kingsman emergency response team could arrive, Sunday had already deployed Black Blade drones to attack the undead mummies that had been summoned using the corpses of the fallen.
Thus, while Carol was anxiously trying to finish off the resurrected Ahmanet and rush back to protect the townspeople, a series of low, rhythmic gunshots echoed throughout the town.
The intense gunfire woke up many sleeping residents. When they saw the staggering undead, some of whom had half their heads blown off by bullets yet still moving and swiping at the drones, fear quickly spread.
The town's police station was soon flooded with calls, but the ringing phones only attracted the undead toward the building. Realizing the danger, the officers hurriedly unplugged the phone lines.
For the local police, facing supernatural horrors was far beyond their pay grade—no one was willing to risk their life by rushing outside to save others.
But while they didn't dare go out, they did think of warning the townspeople.
Before long, the town's air raid sirens blared, rousing the residents. This greatly reduced the efficiency of the undead's life-draining attacks, and in some cases, even led to civilians fighting back.
This alarmed Ahmanet, who had been continuously resurrecting while simultaneously getting blasted by Carol's energy attacks.
Her ability to revive relied on sacrificing the souls of her victims to Set in exchange for his attention.
But no god—especially a demon god—would keep wasting power on a pawn with no chance of victory.
Realizing this, just before Carol could incinerate her once more, Ahmanet made a desperate gamble.
Instead of absorbing the gathered life force for herself, she used it to summon an even larger horde of undead and commanded them to go on a massacre.
She was betting that Carol would prioritize saving civilians.
And sure enough, after waiting for ten seconds and seeing no signs of Ahmanet resurrecting, Carol assumed the mummy princess was either truly dead or taking longer to revive due to weakened power.
"Sunday, keep monitoring this area. If anything changes, report to me immediately. I'm going into town to clear out those undead and minimize civilian casualties."
"Wait—"
Before Sunday could finish, Carol had already shot into the town, radiating blinding light as she tore through any undead in her path.
"Ms. Danvers, I must remind you—your priority is to eliminate Ahmanet. If she escapes into a larger city, the civilian casualties will be catastrophic."
Carol hesitated for a split second, but then Sunday's voice urgently blared in her ear:
"Warning! Warning! Ahmanet is reviving! She is reviving!"
"Damn it!"
Carol immediately shot back into the sky, speeding toward the previous battleground.
Spotting Ahmanet reforming in the air, Carol broke the sound barrier as she slammed into her.
BOOM!
Ahmanet was shattered once more, but this time, instead of fully crumbling, she transformed into a floating sandstorm and began fleeing north.
Luckily, no matter how fast she moved, she was no match for Carol, who could fly at the speed of light in space.
However, as Carol pursued Ahmanet, she failed to notice—or perhaps deliberately ignored—that the shockwave from her sonic boom had collapsed several buildings along the way.
Whether it was because she was too focused on chasing Ahmanet or simply unwilling to face the consequences of her actions, Carol didn't look back.
The sandstorm-form Ahmanet flew over ten kilometers away from populated areas.
Carol, now resembling a high-temperature meteor, streaked through the sandstorm repeatedly. Each time she passed through, she burned large portions of sand into molten slag.
After more than a dozen strikes, Ahmanet, who had originally planned to escape as a sandstorm, was forced to abandon her strategy.
Realizing that continued retreat would only lead to her complete annihilation, she halted her escape, transformed back into her human form, and let out a painful scream while desperately searching for a way out.
Perhaps it was fate—or maybe Set's influence—but just as the Kingsman transport ships arrived in the area, a large commercial airliner descended from the higher skies, preparing to land in London.
Anyone familiar with William would immediately suspect that Sunday had orchestrated this "coincidence."
Seeing the approaching aircraft, Ahmanet's eyes gleamed with joy.
She immediately transformed into a sandstorm once more and surged toward the plane.
As long as she could absorb new life energy, she wouldn't die.
Better yet, she could take hostages, which might give her a real chance to escape.
If she managed to get away, she resolved to keep a low profile in the future, secretly sacrificing more souls to Set to gain even greater power.
Fortunately, the Kingsman ships didn't leave Carol worried for long. As the sandstorm charged toward them, the two ships reacted as if detecting danger—
They executed a rapid Cobra maneuver, soaring higher at incredible speed.
In just a few seconds, BOOMBOOM!—
The two ships had pulled so far away that Ahmanet could only watch them disappear into the distance.
"No—!"
As she watched her escape route vanish, despair filled Ahmanet's heart.
But just as she thought all was lost, she spotted three twinkling lights in the higher sky.
Three evenly spaced lights.
It didn't take much thought to realize they weren't stars.
Her already diminished sandstorm shrank even further as she desperately surged toward the descending airliner.
"Damn it!"
Carol, having also spotted the plane, cursed.
"That bastard! Get William Devonshire to do something—now!"
"I apologize, Ms. Danvers," Sunday responded smoothly.
"Mr. Devonshire has asked me to inform you that today's events have made one thing very clear—Set is constantly watching Ahmanet.
If Set sees Mr. Devonshire, he will immediately shift his attention to him and his family.
However, Mr. Devonshire is not idle—he is currently studying an exorcism spell taught by the Sorcerer Supreme.
Once he masters it, he will be fully confident in banishing Set back to hell."
Watching Ahmanet coil around the plane like a parasite, Carol scowled.
"That coward actually telling the truth?"
"Of course, Ms. Danvers," Sunday replied without hesitation.
"Mr. Devonshire never lies. The spell was personally entrusted to him by the Sorcerer Supreme eight hours ago.
He had not mentioned it to you earlier due to the… misunderstandings and conflicts between you.
However, this incident has convinced both Mr. Devonshire and all the mages of Kamar-Taj that you are a hero willing to protect Earth and humanity.
Perhaps after this crisis, the two of you can sit down and talk properly."
"Hmph."
Carol didn't fully believe Sunday's words, but she wasn't about to pass up a chance at reconciliation either.
"Enough with the pointless chatter. I asked how we're going to deal with that plane!"
"You have two options," Sunday responded calmly.
"One, prioritize the destruction of Ahmanet, even at the risk of harming the passengers.
Two, wait for Ahmanet to make a move and respond accordingly."
As William had predicted, Carol lacked the resolve to attack under such circumstances.
And William had ensured that Ahmanet would go to London for one specific reason—
The Dagger of Set.
