Chapter 635 - Chapter 635: A Crown Worth Hundreds of Millions of Pounds

Since it was impossible to eliminate all the abominations, William figured he could at least focus on protecting himself.

The thought of a pack of werewolves living so close to his home left him feeling uneasy. As for what to do once his territories were secure, that would depend on how the vampires and werewolves reacted. If everyone minded their own business, he'd let it be. But if they sought revenge, then William would have every reason to go to war. He didn't believe that even the most fortified vampire or werewolf lair could withstand an assault from hundreds of alloy robots, thousands of spider drones, and swarms of self-destructing flying machines.

On top of that, he might even profit handsomely from these creatures that had existed for centuries.

After hanging up the phone, William noticed Wilson's uneasy expression. With a smirk, he said, "I signaled for you to leave, but you didn't listen. Now you've overheard things you shouldn't have, and you're scared? Isn't it a bit late and foolish?"

"You and my grandfather were being so mysterious. Of course, I was curious about what was going on."

Taking a few deep breaths to calm himself, Wilson asked, his voice trembling slightly, "So werewolves and vampires are real?"

"Yep," William nodded, smiling. "I've seen both kinds and killed quite a few of them. So, here's some advice: stay away from nightclubs and similar places. Go home early after dark, and you'll greatly reduce your chances of running into them."

"Got it," Wilson nodded quickly, his fear evident. But when he noticed William's amused expression, he grew irritated. "Damn it, take this seriously, man. We're talking about legendary creatures!"

"Alright, alright. They might seem formidable to ordinary people, but to folks like us, they're nothing special." After a moment's thought, William pulled a detector out of his pocket and tossed it to Wilson. "Seeing as you're England's heir and we get along well, here's a detector for you."

Wilson's face lit up as he examined the device. "Is this like the explosive detector you gave me before?"

William nodded. Wilson then asked, "Can't you combine the two into one device?"

"Idiot," William shot back. "First, selling them as separate products means I can profit twice. Second, do you think we can let the general public know about this stuff?"

After putting Wilson in his place, William offered some reassurance. "Relax. As long as you don't seek out these abominations, they won't come after England's heir. Just think about it: if we didn't have the means or power to make them fear us, they'd have taken over humanity long ago."

"That's true," Wilson admitted after a brief moment of thought, nodding in agreement.

With his mood somewhat improved, Wilson headed downstairs for lunch. After a brief rest, guests began arriving at the castle around 3 PM.

With two dukes—William and Wilson—personally greeting the guests, alongside eight professional wedding reception staff, Abby and the other two women who had been busy all day finally got a chance to take a break, touch up their makeup, and change into evening gowns and jewelry. Meanwhile, William's mother had spent the entire afternoon preparing, accompanied by professional makeup artists and hairstylists.

At 7 PM sharp, William, now dressed in a new suit, walked into the banquet hall holding his mother's hand. The sight of the crown on Lena's head immediately drew admiration and envy from everyone present.

Raising his glass, William delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing his gratitude. He then kissed his mother on the cheek, marking the official start of the banquet.

More than a hundred guests were seated at carefully arranged tables. Throughout the meal, the attention of 99% of the female guests was fixed on the crown atop Lena's head.

William had poured considerable effort into crafting the crown. It featured a 462-carat sapphire at its center, with a 316-carat ruby set just below it. The sides of the crown were adorned with ten 100-carat diamonds and over a hundred 20-carat diamonds.

Around her neck and ears, Lena wore a matching set of emerald jewelry—an emerald necklace and earrings. On her finger was a pink diamond ring weighing 127 carats, larger than a pigeon's egg. William had even prepared additional pieces like bracelets and brooches, but his mother felt that wearing too much jewelry would make her look gaudy, so she left those out.

Even with just the crown and the pink diamond ring, Princess Diana herself couldn't hide her envy. She frequently leaned in to whisper with Lena throughout the evening.

An hour later, dinner concluded, and the guests began to relax. They left the dining area to either dance in the castle's grand hall or gather in small groups to drink and chat in the large transparent tent set up outside the castle.

Most of the women were engrossed in discussions about the jewelry, their envy and jealousy barely concealed. When word spread that the crown alone was worth at least £100 million, the looks directed at William by some women practically burned with desire.

After dinner, William first danced with his mother, then with the three women in his life. Before any of the young noblewomen with ulterior motives could approach him, William was pulled aside by Duke Devon and Prince Charles to talk.

In a corner, William and the Duke reached an agreement regarding the compensation for helping Charles Cavendish fight for his inheritance. Once the prince glanced in their direction, the old duke left the castle with his entourage.

The lively banquet continued until past 10 PM, when the older guests began to leave one by one.

By 11:30, William had finally bid farewell to the last of the guests. Exhausted but exhilarated, his mother headed upstairs, and William personally escorted her to her room.

Half-collapsed on a sofa, William rested his head on Jessie's lap, contentedly enjoying her massage.

Half an hour later, just as he was about to drift off, Abby and Ambrosio finished dealing with the remaining details and sat down on the sofas on either side of him. They gave him annoyed looks, clearly envious of Jessie's relaxed demeanor and William's blissful state.

"Darling, your birthday is coming up in half a month—December 7th. You're not planning another party, are you?" Abby asked.

"Of course not," William replied without opening his eyes. "If I had to go through that again, I'd rather die. For my birthday, it'll just be the five of us and my mother."

"Thank goodness," Abby and Ambrosio sighed in unison. Though a professional wedding company had handled most of the work, the event still involved a mountain of small tasks. The two women had been busy the entire day.

Noticing the time—past midnight—William stood up, pulled Jessie to her feet, and said to Abby and Ambrosio, "If you two want to join us, you're welcome to come to my room."

"Go to hell," they both muttered under their breath. Shrugging, William led a blushing Jessie back to his bedroom.

William stayed at the castle until after his birthday. Once the celebrations were over, Ambrosio left for the USA to attend an event, while Jessie went to France to study at the Latour Winery and take over the Margaux Winery.

Only then did William return to the London estate with his mother and Abby.

The day after arriving in London, Harry Hart, the head of Kingsman, came to see William to report on the newly formed combat unit. Accompanying him was Laura Croft, whom William hadn't seen in months.

After shaking hands with Harry, William hugged Laura, noting how tanned and muscular she had become. He teased, "Looks like you've been keeping busy. You've lost weight and gotten a lot tougher."

Pushing him away, Laura rolled her eyes and stepped back behind Harry, clearly annoyed and refusing to speak.

Harry shook his head with a helpless smile. "Boss, as per your instructions, the Special Operations Team has been established. For now, it consists of Laura, Wesley, and Eggsy as the main members, with Merlin handling support and logistics."
