Chapter 563 - Chapter 562: A Frightening Encounter

"Capitalist or not, I couldn't care less. But if anyone sets their sights on me, I'll take them down. You'd better not play any tricks on me, or I guarantee you'll regret ever coming into this world." William smiled, but a dangerous glint flickered in his eyes as he continued, "There are methods far more brutal than your chainsaws, pliers, and little knives."

Before the terrified Clyde could react to William's piercing gaze, William waved his hand toward Clyde's wrist. In an instant, a bracelet made of sixteen small metallic beads appeared on Clyde's wrist.

"What is this?"

Panicked, Clyde pulled the car to the side of the road, staring wide-eyed at the metal bead bracelet now wrapped around his right wrist. Each bead was about four or five millimeters in size. Clyde grabbed the chain with his left hand and yanked at it with all his strength. Despite the pain in his wrist and fingers, the bracelet didn't budge. Turning to William, who was grinning mischievously, he shouted, "Fk you! What the hell is this cursed thing?"

"Here's a piece of advice: even if you chop off your wrist, you won't get rid of these lovely little friends," William said, snapping his fingers. "Oh, and one more thing—don't ever shout at me again, or you'll regret it. Thanks."

As Clyde gave him a puzzled look, William reached over, turned off the car ignition, and snapped his fingers again. "Shock."

"Ugh!" Clyde barely had time to react before an electric current surged from the bracelet, making his whole body convulse.

In seconds, his fists clenched, veins bulged all over his body, and he trembled uncontrollably, staring helplessly at the ceiling of the car.

After another snap of William's fingers, the electric current stopped abruptly. Clyde slumped into his seat, nearly wetting himself from the shock. It took him several seconds to recover, a hint of fear flashing in his eyes before his expression turned resolute. Through gritted teeth, he muttered, "You're a fing psycho."

"Thank you. Compared to you, I'm a saint. At least I never planned to dismantle someone like a doll," William replied with a chuckle. Seeing Clyde regain his composure, William wasn't surprised by his resistance. After all, if a little shock was all it took to break Clyde, he would've lost his mind long ago.

"Take this damn thing off me, or you'll never learn anything about the forty billion," Clyde growled.

"Are you threatening me?" William raised an eyebrow and asked coldly. "Are you sure you want to threaten me?"

"No," Clyde replied firmly. "I'm just formally letting you know—this isn't how a partner should behave." He shook his right hand, the bracelet glinting under the light. "Since you know my past, you should understand that torture doesn't work on someone like me."

After a moment of thought, William nodded in agreement. "You're right. For someone like you, torture won't work. But…"

William tapped a few buttons on his smartwatch.

"Zzzzt!" Clyde, who was already wary, suddenly froze as he felt an electric shock immobilize him. Before he could react further, a memory-erasing syringe shot into his neck.

William's suspicions deepened after seeing Clyde's previous attitude. It was clear the trail to the forty billion dollars wouldn't be straightforward, and there was a high probability the information Clyde had was false. William refused to believe someone like Clyde would hand over a fortune for mere protection from assassins.

As Clyde began to lose consciousness, William whispered a spell of truth magic in his ear. "Tell me everything about the forty billion dollars."

Clyde's expression twisted for a moment before his face went blank. In a monotone voice, he said, "While investigating Toby Lane, one day I overheard him mumbling in his sleep about thirty-five billion in gold bonds."

"After hearing this, I started secretly monitoring Toby Lane. On the ninth night, he started mumbling again, but his voice was faint. I could only make out that he was terrified of someone."

"Who?" William asked quickly.

"Toby kept repeating 'Vi, Vi, Vi…'"

"Vi what?"

At this point, Clyde's expression became filled with fear, and his body started convulsing violently. William cursed under his breath. "Fk."

He leaned closer, chanting softly, "Relax, relax." As Clyde's tense body began to loosen, William sank into thought.

Clyde had previously mentioned that Toby Lane had been killed on the tenth day after Clyde received his mission. Clyde had tailed Toby for nine nights before being targeted himself. Clearly, the mastermind hunting Clyde was someone whose name began with "Vi."

William whispered to Clyde again, "You've never met William Devonshire. The bracelet on your wrist is a gift from your daughter. Count to ten in your mind, and you'll wake up and continue your revenge. One, two, three…"

Pulling the syringe from Clyde's neck, William stepped out of the car, gently closing the door behind him. He walked about ten meters away and, using his mental powers, sensed Clyde regaining consciousness. Clyde sat in the car, lost in thought for several seconds before driving off.

Meanwhile, William transported Clarence Dobby to a prepared warehouse. He dragged the unconscious man by his collar, tossing him onto a workbench. Stripping Dobby of his coat, William used straps to secure his hands, feet, and head, then placed electrodes on his temples and chest.

After ensuring everything was set, Clyde began methodically arranging his tools. He held up each item for Dobby to see, explaining with sinister glee. "Look at this—tourniquets to keep you from bleeding out too quickly. Wouldn't want the fun to end too soon. These games have been in my head for ten years."

Clyde rubbed his hands together in excitement. "God, I can't wait!" Leaning close to the terrified Dobby's ear, he whispered, "Hope you're strong, pal."

Dobby frantically shook his head, his eyes pleading for mercy. But Clyde acted as if he saw nothing, continuing to mutter to himself.

"Saline solution. This will help you last longer," he said, picking up a small vial. He held it up for Dobby to see, grinning. "You'll love this—adrenaline. It'll make sure you don't pass out."

Clyde carefully injected the adrenaline into the saline bag, grinning as Dobby's fear intensified. "How does it feel? Like your whole body's bursting with energy, huh?"

"Wait, there's more!" Clyde exclaimed, pulling out several knives. "These are all just for you. Oh, and this."

He held up a small electric saw, flicking it on. The whirring sound filled the room, and Dobby, already soaked in fear, began trembling uncontrollably.

Dobby's terror only fueled Clyde's excitement. He glanced at the heart monitor and chuckled. "Your heart's racing, pal. That's perfect, because so is mine."

"And now, for the grand finale," Clyde said, bringing over a large mirror and positioning it above Dobby's head. Now, Dobby could see every detail of what was happening to him.

To Dobby's horror, the mirror also bore a photo of a mother and daughter—victims he had killed ten years ago. As Dobby's eyes locked onto the photo, his body froze in despair.

And then… nothing else mattered.
