Chapter Four; The Black Tower
We flew into the Black tower through the wide hole Wonder Woman made when she crashed into the building earlier, coming onto the top floor. God I felt good flying. Too bad I couldn't do it when I ever I wanted as I needed to absorb an astronomical amount of energy first. A shame. Somehow flight is the basic requirement to being overpowered in the DC universe. Don't call Batman or the Flash who a minor exceptions plus Batman even has a flying car.
An empty hall. The place we entered had nothing but junks scattered against the walls. Passing through it we entered a dim hallway brightened by red bulbs. The walls looked like some Nazi camp. WWII bunker architecture plus pure Nazi creepiness. The swastika sign of the Fourth Reich was stamped at one door proving my guess.
"Nazis," I grunted.
Diana nodded in agreement.
We flew into another hallway, it was empty. Hu, I thought we'd meet the enemy quickly. At this rate I'd exhaust my energy before any confrontation. Well, as far as Black Adam doesn't kill me with one punch I could replenish my energy without any problem.
Hallways after hallways, all dim, all brightened by red bulbs. Wonder Woman led the way as we descend downstair.
A foul smell assault my nose making me frown. "Something died in here," I said. We flew forward. Wonder Woman opened the first door in the hallway and looked in.
"Hera..." She gasped.
I peered over her shoulder. "Fuck!" As I rule I rarely curse. Owning to my upbringing... A strict religious mother and all. But... Inside the lab were things. People, not people. Corpses and body parts floating in a green liquid inside a giant glass tube that stood from floor to ceiling. I saw lungs, a head and human spines; an almost complete corpse, but with a hand missing, and hollowed eyes socket.
I opened the door opposite, and it was a similar sight. It was straight up Nazi horror.
Moreover, all down the hallway, each room was a similar sight. The more labs we saw, the more the creatures in the tube changed. Whoever they are that are doing this, they were perfecting it. From body parts to complete people missing limbs, to people having extra limbs, eyes, or even possessing wings.
They weren't alive though. They were all visibly rotting even to us viewing it beyond the liquid. Some glass tubes have broken, spilling foul liquid on the tile. That was the cause of the smell.
By the end of the hallway Wonder Woman was fuming. I didn't blame her, in fact, I'm the strange one. I felt horrified yes, I felt angry, again, yes. But, I also felt detached from it all. Like this wasn't happening. 'It must be a shock,' I thought.
We thought we'd find a similar sight in the next floor or worse but we found nothing but empty rooms. And the next too, and the next. We went down four floors of nothing before we reached the basement entrance. "We should have started from the ground floor." I said.
Wonder Woman nodded. She reached for the door and pushed it probingly.
Krrrr...
To my surprise the door opened with a creak.
Baam!
We went down the stairs carefully. At the end of the stairs we came into a hallway brightened by blue lights like some advanced facility.
Twik, Twik, Twik, Twik...,
We could hear the sound of keyboard snapping. With her sword and shield at ready, Wonder Woman flew past three doors up the hallway, to the door it was coming from. I followed.
Twik, Twik, Twik, Twik, Twik...,
When we entered, we found a dim room brightened only by computer screens and monitors. Six tubes were lined at the sides, three at each side. And a red haired man stood at the other end of the room with his back turned to us, typing at the monitor.
"Raise your hands in the air and step away from the machine." Diana said hovering in the air. I joined her side.
The man stopped and turned. The screens that were showing numbers turned white and blank behind him. He was middle aged, slender and handsome. He wore a black cat suit with a red D at the chest. "Per Degaton," I said.
His eyes flicked to me. "James Greek..., I should have known you were the unaccountable variable that disrupted my plan."
Gu...! I blinked in surprise. "You know me?"
"How about you answer that yourself. You know many things don't you?"
I frowned. This is not good, that sounded like he threw my words back at me. I must have told him that, but I don't... Damn it! I'm not outside the timeline am I? But I'm an SI! I thought I'd be immune to time travelers.
Oh, come on...
I narrowed my eyes. "You must have interacted with my future self..."
Degaton smirked. "Ah, you are as preceptive as ever, it's almost uncanny. But you seem less sure here... Tell me, did you perhaps just crossover from whatever reality you originate from, bearing disturbing knowledge?" He went on. "Tell me this Jim, who are you? A rogue time master? A dimensional hopper? Or just a guy erased from reality looking for straws to grab on as you go on on your pretentious crusade?!"
I looked at him uncomfortably. I can't say anything careless here. I'm dealing with a time traveler that has possibly interacted with my future self after all. Anything I say could be used against me. Maybe my future self already said something to get out of a fix, and he's probing me to see if it's true.
It was an odd situation. I couldn't talk back, yet I couldn't stand still. The only thing I could do to turn the tide is to burst his jaw or spill bullshit. And as a rule, I don't spill bullshit. It's weak.
I clenched my fist and flew forward.
Degaton laughed. "You are always guarded about your origin!" As if waiting for me to move, the villain pulled a pistol from his belt and shot at me.
Baam!
Gu...! I groaned.
A force prodded me in the chest. I found myself losing flight and fell to the ground. "You didn't think I'd be unprepared to clash with you did you?" Per Degaton sneered. "I didn't know I would meet you here but I came prepared for everything. That bullet is made of dwarf star! Wotan was suppose to deal with Wonder woman and the Lantern! If only you mouse hadn't come sniffing around. Die!" He pointed the gun at me and shot, intending to blow my head. But...
Woo...
Krr ...
Wonder Woman appeared in front of me, crouching with one leg stretched to the side from her slide. Her hand was raised, and her bracelet glowed red for a moment from the bullet it blocked before dimming. "I wanted to let you two finish your discussion first." She said standing. "But aren't you forgetting the elephant in the room?"
Degaton's face distorted in disgust. "That's not how you use..."
"It's how I use it." Diana cut him off. God, I could hear the smirk in her voice. Well...
Woosh...
I gathered energy in my chest and expelled the bullet. It shot out clattering in the ground. Ah, the wound quickly healed too. I rose to my feet. "Phew...!" I thought I was going to die there. Damn to be caught naively the same way I always insulted Superman for losing is embarrassing. Dawrf star huh? So my powers could be stopped with that. Talk of weakness. Fucking DC! Twice today I was cocky, twice I paid the price.
But this also helped me find out I could regenerate.
Ku!
Wonder Woman suddenly moved and swung a punch at Per Degaton. The villain drew back as her fist phased through him. I threw a beam of purple energy at him. It passed harmlessly through his body, breaking a monitor on its path.
"Careful!" Wonder Woman hissed, then narrowed her eyes as she looked at the enemy. "You are invulnerable to physical attack." She reached to her belt and brought out her lasso. The amazonian twirled it briefly in the air then threw.
Per Degaton sneered at her attack. But the next moment... "Ah! What?!" He screamed. Surprisingly it caught him.
"Hmm," Wonder Woman smirked with her hands on her hips. "It seems you have never fought the Wonder Woman even in the future."
"Ah, Damn it! You can't kill me, I'm immortal!"
"Who said anything about killing?" Wonder Woman kicked him down and stepped on his chest.
"Gu..."
"You squirm like a pig for someone talking so big."
Ha...
I could ask the time traveler 'how's the view from down there,' but it's not an appropriate thing to say. Besides I don't think he's appreciating it much. Unaware of my thoughts the villain continued taking. "You'll regret this... I'll find you in the past and future... Gu..!"
Wonder Woman suddenly stepped harder on his chest. "You'll get your revenge you mean? But before that I have questions. Who are you?"
The time traveler sneered. "I'm Per Degaton! And it's folly to earn my fury..."
"Okay..., Who do you work for?"
"Uh... Gu..." He groaned, resisting the magic of the lasso of truth. "I... Time stealers! I am a member of the Time stealers."
"Hu... What 'wonderful' self control." Diana said looking happy at the challenge. Then her expression darkened. "Did you do those experiments up there?"
"Aaah? No!"
"No? Did the Time stealers do it?"
"No,"
"I am not going about this right,"Diana frowned. "Who did it?"
"The Nazis, it was the Nazis. It was here before I came. Adolf Hitler gave me this place as I promised to hand him the JSA when I capture them!"
"Is that why Wotan is here?"
The villain glared at her venomously. "Yes you crude woman!"
"Then are the prisoners still here?"
"Yes."
I walked over. "All of them?"
"Answer him!" Wonder Woman growled.
"No,"
"Ah, Hera, who's missing?"
"Grr... Damn it, Hawkgirl!"
"What? Where is she?"
Degaton smirked with some effort. "I don't know. But I'll save you the trouble of asking who, it was Vandal Savage. Took her where in particular, I have no idea..., why, or maybe I do, I am not sure. But you should ask Baron Blitzkrieg, he might know something. He took her to Savage..."
Wonder Woman fell silent seemingly lost of words. She took a deep breath and glared at the time traveler looking like she could barely control herself. I decided to ask before she accidentally kills him no matter how slim the chance of that was. "Where's Black Adam?" I asked.
Gu... Fu... Ku...
"Ha... I sent him back with the others... Hu..."
"Back where?" Diana questioned.
"To their timelines stupid battle head!"
I scoffed. "So you brought them back in time to defeat the past versions of their enemies... is that how you put it?"
"About right, James ass."
I grew angry. "Did you just call me James ass?"
Vroom...!
A golden light flashed and Wotan and Baron Blitzkrieged appeared. Ah, not again, I groaned.
Jee!
The wizard waved his hand flinging Wonder Woman away with telekinesis then cast a purple arcane wall to block my advance.
Ziiii...
Per Degaton quickly untangled the lasso and flung it away before Diana could grab the other end again. He stood beside Wotan and glared at us. "This is not over!"
"Yeah," I said concentrating energy to my chest to break the shield. If I can hold them here for a minute... "I'll find your other versions and destroy them!"
"That's my line ass!" A golden light flashed just as I was about to release the energy and the villains vanished.
Gu... I panted pulling back my energy. Shit, I can't believe they actually escaped.
Hai!
Wonder Woman picked back her whip then stared at the space Wotan and the others vanished. She tilted her head to the side suddenly, then looked at me and said. "Dr Fate said he's giving chase."
I grunted but said nothing, head bowed in thought.
"Do you blame him for their escape?"
I lifted my my head, a little startled. "I didn't say anything." I growled defensively.
"Come on you bear," Diana said walking away. "No need to take it too serious."
'Is she purposely annoying me?'
I hesitated as I stared at the computer set ups. If I could take a look for a moment maybe I would find something. Besides this is the 40s, I might not find another like this anywhere else in the world... Ah! Duty calls I guess?
Koosh... Koosh... Koosh... Koosh...
We walked down the hallway.
On the way, I opened the doors we passed. Armory, storage room, a clean laboratory, and a small bed room... I saw all that but I couldn't find living spaces for that many soldiers we faced.
I thought I'd find a door that leads to a widened area of the basement, but I found nothing. Thinking of that we reached the end of the hallway. At the end of the hallway two prison cells faced each other. The left one held prisoners behind metal bars, while the one at the right_ maybe because the occupants possess powers_ held them in a glass cell. The prisoners were all in costume though, most still masked. They all turned to our direction.
'Wonder Woman?' I heard whispers. Those sitting on the ground quickly got up.
"Diana?" The Flash shouted. He was one of the morons in the box.
"Step back, I'm breaking you out!" Diana declared valiantly. She drew her sword and cut down the lock on the bars.
Klang!
Pieces of metal cluttered to the ground.
A guy in red costume with a star on his chest, green cape, and a finned silver helmet stepped forward and opened the cell door. "Wonder Woman," he said delightedly. "Thank you for saving us."
"It's no matter Starman," Diana replied kindly. She frowned as she turned to the glass cell. "How do I free them? Do I have to break it?"
"Let's see," Starman walked over to the panel fixed to the wall beside the glass cell. "I just have to hack this..."
"That'll be impossible," a voice said. We turned to see a guy in a business suit, fedora and gas mask. "Even if you could somehow crack it, it would take forever."
"This is no time for games sandman," Starman growled. "Do you have a better solution?"
"Well, I watched them type the codes when they took out Hawkgirl. Excuse me." He moved before the panel, replacing Starman, and punched in the codes. "Hmm..." He did something after when it didn't immediately open. Then...
Zzii...
A door shaped glass slid into the wall beside. Immediately the glass cell opened, the heroes poured out.
Those trapped in the glass cell were The Flash, Blue Beetle, Obsidian, Phantom Lady and TNT; while those behind the bars were Starman, Sandman, Bullet man?, Hourman and Commander Steel. Ten of them all together.
"Ha! It's good to be back!" The Flash said as he walked out. He 'flashed' up the hallway and back before turning to Wonder Woman. "How did you find us?"
"It's a long story," Diana replied.
"Is this the guy from the park?" Flash walked over. "Hey it's nice to meet you, I'm the Flash. The fastest man on the planet."
We shook hands. "James Greek,"
"Cool name,"
"Not as cool as yours,"
"I know right?"
"The bastards took my rod," Starman said. "Wonder Woman, do you know where they kept it?"
Diana looked up from her conversation with Sandman. "It's in the store. The second door to the left up the hallway."
"Uh, thanks."
Many started moving to collect their equipments.
Fu...
Mission complete, everyone saved. I sat on the black tower and watched everything as the planes arrived and the US military took over. I always appreciated tall places as a place to think. However unlike most times I wasn't thinking about anything serious. I was thinking of my superhero name. I needed one and fast. There are a lot of names from Marvel I could copy I guess, but none felt right to me. I could use my name too, but a real hero name would be better.
Ah, this is fucked up. I know I should be thinking about what Per Degaton said and its various implications but I shelved that to the back of my mind for the moment.
Fu
The sun was starting to turn red in the evening. I watched it silently.
Swoo...
After some time Wonder Woman flew to me. "Troubled thoughts?" She asked with a smile.
"Nah," I rose to my feet and picked the duffel bag beside me. "Is it time we leave?"
"Yes," she nodded. "It'd be only the two of us, Green Lantern is staying back to process everything..."
I flew beside Wonder Woman as we went towards her plane. She glanced at the bag I carried but luckily said nothing. "I thought your plane was destroyed." I said.
She scoffed. "A little damage to the tail wouldn't do anything, it'd self repair in minutes."
"How convenient..., Is it made with technology or magic?"
"Technologically advanced magic," she grinned.
I snorted. "Is that even a thing?"
"I guess it's a matter of perspective?"
I shook my head. "And what's it in your perspective?"
"Technology I guess,"
"Then technology it is."
We flew out of the island. Before that, Diana waved at Sandman and a few soldiers that regarded her, and we went. When we reached the invisible plane, Diana circled it then touched the tail and nodded in satisfaction. "Good,"
"Can you really see it?" I asked as we went to the door.
"What?"
"I mean, can you see the plane?"
"Uh that," she leaned forward and vanished. "In a way I can, having godly eyesight and all." She sounded like she was joking. Oh well. I kept the duffel bag on the cabin seat then took the cockpit seat beside the pilot. The pilot, Wonder Woman, glanced at me then started the plane.
We took off swiftly. "Hmm... She's not completely fine yet." Diana commented.
I nodded then looked out the window. Clouds, space, the sea was far down. This plane is really impressive isn't it? But I guess there are stranger things still in the DC universe. Per Degaton's words flashed in my mind. I realize I did not come here to play, I needed to gain power fast, at least gain some roots in this world. I shook my head with a frown. "Hey," I said. Diana turned to me. "Can you drop me off somewhere else?"
"You don't want to return to Los Angeles?"
I shrugged. "Not that it's my home or anything..." I sighed. "Drop me off in Gotham city."
"Sure...," She hesitated. "Don't mistake me Greek, I appreciate everything you did today, and the other day. But what you took from the island...,." She glanced behind at the duffel bag.
"Tactical suits, gas masks, military gear, and cloths." I was embarrassed to admit the last. I had taking parts of the high tech weapons too_ which by the way self destructed along with the monitors and computers by the time we returned after freeing the heroes_ to try and build something with it later. Oh, and I had also found 25 dollars in Degaton's drawer so there's that too.
Diana sighed gravely. "I'll overlook it this time."
I felt a sudden flash of anger for some reason, and gritted my teeth. I pointed a finger at her before I knew what I was doing. "You don't know me woman," I said. "You don't get to judge me."
Diana narrowed her eyes at me then took a deep breath as if reigning down her anger. "I'm not judging you." She said then looked back forward. "And... If you point a finger at me again, I'm going to break it!"
"You can try any time." I retort but retrieved my finger in case she do try it. I might have fought Grundy and Wotan but I still isn't confident I could take her on. Besides it's a fight that should never happen. It's not like I'm in a savage world were everything is solved by the fist. Even between man and woman.
We rode the next hours in silence. I sat fuming but the anger soon smoldered. I started feeling ashamed for what I did. But there's no way I'd apologize. In the first place I still think I was mostly right.
What pissed me off more was the fact that I'd thrown the last word. If only I had kept quiet when she threatened me. Ah, What would it have taken from me?
But more importantly...
Wonder Woman had heard what Per Degaton said. I have to do damage control now to avoid trouble in the future. How to do this... I have to give information don't I? Fuck you Degaton. 'Coughs,' I cleared my throat then turned to Diana. "I was an airforce engineer." I said quietly, setting up the mood. "I loved the airforce you know..." Diana did not react, still staring ahead. I cleared my throat again then reached out and grab the lasso at her waist, wounding it around my wrist tightly. I felt a little dazed but not much different. Wonder Woman glanced at me now but said nothing. "But I lost everything... Two cases of personality disorder... And all... Ah, Guess what I want to say is... you might have guessed it, I'm not from around here, I have nothing to my goddamn name but the cloth I'm wearing. And those cloths were just sitting there; I wanted them, they'd just end up as evidence at best anyway, at worst destroyed or left to rot."
I released the lasso before I could say anything I didn't want to. "You are from a different reality then?" Diana asked, taking the bait.
Still she's catching up fast. Though, this is the DC universe, I guess I'm not the only one from another reality. However, there's no way I'd tell her mine is a little different being that she's a fictional character there. That'd be just foolishly complicating things. "Where else?" I muttered.
Diana took a moment to let that sink in. "Thank you for telling me..., You did..."
"Don't,"
"Don't what?"
"Don't praise me," I scoffed. "It makes me... Ha! Damn it, what's the word?"
"You said the truth," she glanced at me with smile and opened her mouth, then hesitated. She closed it before opening it once again. "I... In this reality did you know me?"
I shrugged and grabbed the lasso, wrapping it around my wrist again. "We never spoke, never met... but... I see you on the TV or books and comics." Technically I didn't lie.
"How was I?"
"Roughly the same. You are beautiful, good, heroic, and always brings hope. How could you be any different?" I released the lasso of truth. I expected her to be satisfied but...
Wonder Woman was frowning. "I don't like what you said."
"What?"
"Don't mistake me, I am a good person, and I might be all what you listed. But the way you said it under the lasso of truth, with so much certainty and conviction. It's almost worship..., That's not it... It's like... Ah, you said 'how could you be different?' It's like I'm stuck in a role that... You think I cannot escape. Like I'm beyond corruption and fault. Just good and faultlessly good.
"I do not know how to feel about that, because I can't say the same about anyone. Even the gods."
'You'd probably change your mind when you meet Sups,' I thought then stared at her and shook my head. "What is that expression?" She asked quietly.
"I was thinking of how pitiful you are." I said. "Now before you start punching my face, listen up. You don't who you are. Ask most people, even other heroes, they'd probably say the same thing I did. You are one of the greatest there's Diana, even in my earth, look into the mirror for a second and tell me what you see."
"A woman in a skimpy outfit?" She smirked.
"Ah, and I thought you have godly sight." I shook my head with playful weariness.
The plane came to a stop. I went out and pulled out my duffel bag. "When can we meet again?" Wonder Woman asked as I was about to close the plane's door.
I looked up from her question. "I don't know," I said. "I'm going to be busy for the next few days. But you can call me if you need anything, I'll be your booty call."
"Booty call?" Wonder Woman frowned. "I do not know the word..."
Ah! Slangs, maybe nobody says booty call in the 40s. Who cares anyway? I shrugged. "It means a call to arrange sex."
"Oh,"
"But I was using it in a different way to say that you can rely on me."
"Good, then I'll meet you here in three days. Settle your affairs before that."
I shouldered my bag and looked at her. "Sure," I said. Somehow me and her has this understanding. Ah, I can't explain it. We didn't know each other for long but we just flowed in the same wavelength. Maybe it's a superhero thing?
Vroom...!
I watched the faint outline of the invisible plane fly away then I looked around. I was standing in the middle of a park in the night. 'So this is Robinson park,' I thought. In the future Selena Kyle will live close by, Batman might fight the GCPD here, and poison Ivy will occupy it for a time. That's all things that might happen in the future. But tonight I am alone here and has the place all to myself.
I hid behind a tree and took off my shredded shirt and jacket before opening the duffel bag. Degaton's cloths were too small for me, so I only looted his long coats. Both sleeves of the shirt and jacket I removed were gone, and the shirt had big holes in it that made it more rags held by strings than cloths.
My jeans was mostly okay, if for a hole on the knee and a little dirt. So I put on the coat and buttoned up. The shirt and jacket were left in the park. Sorry for littering, ah. I zipped up the duffel, picked it up and left.
I walked for some time before I thought of something; I still have energy to spare. I rose to the air and flew the rest of the way.
I flew out of the park, and soon over buildings. I went north towards were I hoped was midtown. A street filled with people. People looked pointing up at me.
Ignoring them I flew closer to the roofs searching for a hotel. Passing over an alley I heard a scream and decided to be a hero. I turned and redirected back to the place
Two men were trying to mug a woman. She was struggling fiercely, holding on to her purse. I landed lightly behind the men. Ha! Its frustrating but they didn't notice me right away. "Coughs," I cleared my throat. The would be muggers finally turned around. "Hi," I said. "I would be a little gentler to the lady if I were you."
"Or what?" One scoffed.
"Or I'll punch you through a wall."
The other one pulled a knife. "I'll do you one better puke face," he said. "Drop the bag and your wallet and I'll let you walk away yeah?"
"You are very ambitious." I wondered if I should keep my promise; punch him through a wall. Ah! It'd probably kill him. Hmm... MaybebI should take him flying like...
Before I could decide, a dark figure descended in the alley. "Gru...!" The first thug was punched. "Arrrrg...!" He screamed. "My hand!" His hand was broken, then he was sent flying into the wall from a kick.
The second thug turned to the newcomer brandishing his knife.
I looked at the 'assailant'. A blond woman in a black cat suit and eye mask. A super hero? Well, it seems she has everything under control, I have nothing else to do here then.
I turned and left the alley shooting up into the air again and continued on my way.
Soon though, I realized my ambition would be difficult to achieve. Atop the roofs I spotted the vigilante following me. She didn't even try to conceal herself as she jumped from roof to roof. I sighed then turned around and descended on a roof. I waited.
Soon the superhero alighted lightly on the roof I stood. "Who are you?" She asked immediately she landed. She's rather straightforward isn't she?
"You first, who are you?" I retorted.
She hummed. "You don't know me?"
"Sorry miss, I'm in the middle of something and I don't have time for games."
"Aggressive, I like it." She sauntered to the side seductively and spared a glanced below, over the edge of the roof. "I'm called the Black Canary."
Hu. I rolled my eyes. "I have maybe heard of you."
She turned to me with a sly smile. "And you big boy?"
"I am called James Greek my lady," I did a mock bow. "With or without your permission I'll like to escape your presence for more important matters."
"I'm distraught, what could be more important than 'this lady's' company?"
"Something like finding an inn..."
"Okay, I'm fed up with the roleplay thing." She narrowed her eyes at me aggressively. "So what's your deal? You have powers, so what is it? Hero or villain?"
"The first one,"
"Hero then, good. Now why are you in Gotham?"
"This is Gotham?" I said. She didn't look impressed. I scoffed. "I came here for business."
"Dressed like that?" Canary scoffed, obviously disdained by my attire.
I paused with my mouth open. What a bitch. "It was a last minute thing."
"Ah," She sighed then looked away as if in thought. I considering just flying away. She'd turn and not find me. Batmanesque. But her next words made me pause. "You said you wanted to find a hotel?"
"Something cheap but not too shabby preferably. Ah, and this is Gotham, I'd rather they don't ask too much questions."
"Ah? Ah, alright, come."
Black Canary took off jumping from roof to roof. I flew after her. Finally she led me to an ugly three storey building and stopped on the roofs at the opposite side of the street. "There." She pointed.
I stood beside her shouldering my bag. "Well, it's thanks I guess."
"You are welcome, just don't cause any trouble here."
"Just don't ask me to cause trouble."
"Deal,"
"Deal," I reached for a hand shake but she moved away.
"We are not in that stage in our relationship yet." She jumped over the roof and disappeared.
"Whatever," I muttered. I jumped down into the alley below the roof and crossed over to the hotel.
The receptionist looked up as I entered the lobby. "Welcome to Raven hotel. Good evening sir, how can I help you?"
Not bad for such a shabby place. "Good evening. Do you have any rooms available tonight?"
"Single or double?"
"Single. How much for a night?" I asked the lady. She was a dark haired woman in a black and white uniform.
"3 dollars for a night sir." She said. "How long are you going to stay?"
"3 days." I replied. After I was done in the lobby I took the keys and went upstairs. Second floor, room 415. The bulb was a little low making the hallway dull.
Kkkkkk
I inserted the key and opened the door. The room had a small bed, clean sheets, and a bathroom. Not bad. I closed the door and dropped the duffel bag on the bed.
Ziii
I zipped it open and the started lining its content on the bed. Two tactical suits, a coat, a taser, binoculars, gas mask, a belt, and the parts of the laser rifles and gun turrets.
My plan in Gotham can finally begin.
AND THAT'S THE CHAPTER
Phew*
Thanks for reading, thanks for the reviews. I appreciate it.
A romantic pairing huh? We'll see, mostly I go where the story carries me not the other way around. I think this thing is mostly about chemistry. Do WW and our MC have enough chemistry?
At this moment she's literally the first woman he's like really met in this world so who knows?
