Chapter 16 - The Reluctant CEO

In the dimly lit bedroom, Logan and Kalina were snuggled up together on the cozy bed, their bodies entwined in a warm embrace.

But in an instant, Logan's reflexes kicked in, and he turned to his side, his eyes flying open to find Kalina's face inches from his own.

Without hesitation, he reacted, his leg jerking out to push her away.

Kalina let out a faint cry as she was kicked off the bed, landing on her face with a soft thud.

Logan's eyes widened in shock, his hand flying to his mouth as he gasped, "Kalina!"

Kalina froze, her long hair splayed out around her like a dark halo, her body still on all fours.

"Kal?" Logan called out cautiously, edging closer to the bed.

She slowly lifted her head, her eyes locked on Logan with a mixture of confusion and anger. "Why did you...?" she started to say, her voice barely above a whisper.

Logan's face contorted in guilt and concern. "Kalina, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to..."

Logan's eyes widened as blood dripped from her nose, staining the floor. "Holy—"

He trailed off as he took in the sight of her bloody nose. "Oh no, Kalina, your nose!"

Kalina's eyes flashed with anger, her voice dripping with bitterness. "Whose fault is that?!"

Logan quickly moved to help her, gently turning her over to face up. "I'll go get the first aid box, wait."

He rushed out of the bedroom, leaving Kalina seething on the floor.

As Logan returned with the first aid box, Kalina's intense gaze remained fixed on him, her eyes blazing with a fierce anger.

Logan approached her cautiously, holding out the box like an offering. "Let me help you, Kalina. Please."

Kalina's expression remained unyielding, but she nodded slowly, her body relaxing slightly as Logan began to tend to her injured nose.

"I didn't know you were beside me or even on my bed," Logan explained, his voice gentle. "I thought you were sleeping on the sofa in the living room. You must have sleepwalked."

Kalina's response was laced with bitterness. "Your bed is comfy, I'll give you that."

Logan finished cleaning her nose and applied a cotton ball to stop the bleeding. "I'll go freshen up and get ready for the day," he said, standing up.

Kalina asked, "What's the time?"

Logan checked his phone on the bedside table. "It's almost 5:00 AM. I should really start getting ready."

Kalina shook her head, her expression incredulous. "Why do you need to wake up so early? You're the boss, for crying out loud!"

Logan smiled. "I like to get to the office before anyone else. It sets a good example for our employees."

Kalina eyed him up and down, her gaze lingering on him as he walked into the bathroom. "I'm going back to bed," she announced, pulling the duvet up to her chin.

As Logan began to get ready for the day, Kalina snuggled deeper into the bed, her eyes drifting shut.

Despite the chaos of the morning, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of admiration for Logan's dedication to his work.

Mireille swept into the house, her elegant figure draped in a flowing purple dress, her hair styled in a sleek updo.

She moved with the grace of a cat, her high heels clicking on the floor. Her eyes shone with a warm light as she entered the bedroom, her gaze fixed on the sleeping form of Kalina.

"Rise and shine, sleepyhead!" Mireille chimed, her voice like a gentle bell.

But Kalina didn't move a bit. Mireille approached her and gently tapped her shoulder. "Kal, wake up!"

Kalina still didn't respond, instead rolling away from Mireille. Mireille chuckled and vigorously shook her shoulder, shouting her full name, "KALINA LEVESQUE!"

Kalina groggily opened her eyes, her gaze unfocused. "Ugh...what time is it?"

"It's 5:30, darling," Mireille replied, her smile sparkling. "You have meetings to attend, and you don't want to be late!"

Kalina reluctantly sat up, her eyes bleary. "Five more minutes, please...I'm not a morning person."

Mireille chuckled, her eyes glinting with mirth. "No way, Kalina. You need to get ready. Come on, I'll help you."

Kalina grumbled, throwing off the duvet. Mireille dragged her out of bed, Kalina stumbling like a zombie.

Logan emerged from the closet, his T-shirt and khaki pants a far cry from the sleek CEO image.

Mireille's eyes widened in horror. "Logan, what are you wearing? You look like you're going to a beach party, not a board meeting!"

Logan grinned, his eyes crinkling. "Hey, it's comfortable! And I'm the boss, I can wear what I want."

Mireille face-palmed. "Comfortable, maybe. But not exactly CEO material. Trust me, this outfit will make you look sharp."

She held up a sleek black suit, a crisp white shirt, and a jewelry box. "This is from our next collection, office wear theme. And Kalina, you'll wear this stunning dress, with this beautiful necklace and earrings."

Kalina rolled her eyes, but Mireille dragged her to the bathroom, insisting on styling her hair and makeup.

Logan reluctantly changed into the outfit Mireille had brought, grumbling good-naturedly.

"I don't know why I need to dress up so much," Logan said, adjusting his shirt. "I'm just going to a meeting with some boring investors."

Mireille smiled, her red lips curving upwards. "That's exactly why you need to dress up, Logan. You need to make a statement. You're not just any CEO, you're a fashion icon."

Kalina snorted, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Fashion icon? You're such a diva, Mireille."

Mireille grinned, her eyes shining with satisfaction. "Hey, someone has to keep you two looking good. Now come on, let's get ready to take on the day!"

Fast-forward to 6:30 AM, Kalina and Logan stood in the bedroom, their transformation complete.

Kalina wore a stunning peach floral print crop top, and a straight skirt, her hair styled in loose waves, her makeup subtle yet elegant, and a matching necklace, earring, and bracelets.

Logan looked sleek and confident in his black suit, his white shirt half-buttoned, showcasing his built chest area, with a simple necklace and a stud earring, and a luxurious wristwatch.

Mireille beamed, her eyes shining with satisfaction. "You both look amazing! I knew I could do it."

Kalina rolled her eyes, but a small smile played on her lips. "Thanks, Mireille. You're a miracle worker."

Logan chuckled, his eyes crinkling. "Yeah, thanks, Mireille. I feel like a million bucks."

Mireille grinned, her red lips curving upwards. "That's what I'm here for, darlings. Now go out there and conquer the day!"

As they exit the house, Mireille leads the way to the elevator, her high heels clicking on the marble floor.

Kalina follows reluctantly, her stylish outfit contrasting with her grumpy demeanor.

Logan brings up the rear, his eyes fixed on his phone.

As they step into the elevator, Mireille presses the button for the parking lot. The doors slide shut, and they begin their descent.

"I can't believe I have to go to this meeting," Kalina says, her voice laced with sarcasm. "I swear, it's just a waste of time."

Mireille turns to her, a sympathetic smile on her face. "I know, darling. But we have to be there. We're CEOs, after all."

Kalina rolls her eyes. "Yeah, yeah. I know. But that doesn't mean I have to like it."

Logan chuckles. "Come on, Kalina. It's not that bad. We'll get it over with and then we can move on with our day."

"I'm so glad we got ready quickly," Mireille says, her eyes fixed on the elevator door. "I hate being late."

Logan nods in agreement. "Me too. It's always a relief when we can get a head start on the day."

Kalina grunts, her eyes fixed on her phone. "Yeah, yeah. You two are just a pair of go-getters, aren't you?"

Mireille and Logan laugh, their good mood contrasting with Kalina's grumpiness.

The elevator doors open, and they step out into the parking lot. The sun is shining bright, casting a warm glow over the rows of cars.

Mireille heads towards her car, a sleek black sedan. She unlocks it and adjust her seat before starting the engine.

Kalina heads towards her Range Rover, a sleek black vehicle with tinted windows. She unlocks it with a beep and slides into the driver's seat.

Logan walks towards his car, a sleek silver Mercedes with gleaming wheels. He unlocks it and gets in, starting the engine with a purr.

As they drive to the meeting, Kalina's reluctance is palpable. Mireille and Logan, on the other hand, seem grateful to have finished getting ready early.

They pull out of their parking spots and drive off in opposite directions.

Kalina's Range Rover leads the way, its engine purring smoothly as she navigates through the morning traffic.

Logan's Mercedes follows close behind, its sleek design turning heads as they drive by.

Mireille brings up the rear, her sedan gliding effortlessly through the traffic.

As they approach the meeting location, Kalina's grumpiness seems to intensify.

She pulls into the parking lot with a sigh, her Range Rover coming to a stop with a soft squeak of the brakes.

Logan pulls up beside her, his Mercedes gleaming in the morning light.

Mireille parks her sedan on the other side of Logan, a smile still plastered on her face.

They exit their cars, their stylish outfits and confident strides contrasting with Kalina's reluctance.

Kalina lets out a sigh. "Okay, let's get this over with."
