He can't even be sure if it's true—after all, from the perspective of their Mage circle members, the so-called history that remains after the Great Cataclysm is already completely untraceable and false, with too many truths and lies interwoven. The best approach is to learn everything but believe nothing.
Malin also lamented this. This guy was probably the first to become a Deity, and he's really tough—he managed to kill Nagoth's chosen champion right after ascending to godhood. Even though he ended up dead in the Star Realm, it didn't stop Malin from calling him a tough guy.
If it weren't for his battle, Earth civilization might not have survived to this day. In Malin's view, North America having such a tough guy made his decision to save all humans on this land worth it.
