Chapter 490 - 489: Its Always The Simps

In this world, being a simp rarely ends well, whether male or female.

The examples are numerous. Ling Yuefeng, Long Bai, Xisu, and the list goes on.

This rule does not even exclude the children of Creation Gods or Devil Emperors. One of the reasons Pan Xiaodie was so tormented by guilt, to the point she would rather never wake up and face the reality of this accursed world, was because of one of the simps who had been simping for her.

The Crown Prince of the Nirvana Devil Emperor was deeply in love with Pan Xiaodie. He was her ultimate simp. He always stuck by her side, to the point he was unwilling to leave the Pan Clan's territory. Unfortunately for him, Pan Xiaodie always placed him firmly in the dreaded friendzone.

Despite being a simp, he was considerably talented. He was the most talented and beloved son of the Nirvana Devil Emperor. His father loved him so much that he gave him the Devil Pearl to protect himself.

When Mo E announced that he would throw Mo Su into the Abyss of Nothingness, she sought out the Nirvana Crown Prince and begged him for help. Then she sneak attacked him, ambushing him and stealing the Devil Pearl.

She tearfully apologized to him and left behind a memory recording of this moment. What happened next was the fall of both Mo Su and Pan Xiaodie into the Abyss of Nothingness. The two most powerful Devil Artifacts were forever lost, which became the cause of the Devil race losing the Great War.

With the weight of betraying her father, her clan, her race, and her simp, she chose to escape reality and remain in slumber.

"Simp sure are pathetic beings, they ruin everything for other men and women," Yun Wuji scratched his chin while observing Pan Xiaodie's peaceful sleeping face. Behind him, Mo Su was struggling fiercely, but Yun Wuying had already silenced him with a single glance.

Mo Su had nearly destroyed the Abyss and planned to recklessly do the same to the Primal Chaos as well, all just to awaken her, but he still had not succeeded. Yun Wuji, however, was not as helpless as him.

He had a way to make her voluntarily wake up. The easiest way was to use his least used technique, the Emotional Routing technique, to direct all her sadness and guilt toward Mo Su. He would bet she would open her eyes the very next instant. But would Yun Wuji do that?

Of course not.

He had a better idea. It would take more time, but it was better than completely fucking up Pan Xiaodie's emotions.

The first step was to direct all the guilt and sadness toward herself, to make her feel guilty for herself and sad for the sorry state she was in right now. Then he would enter her dream and interact with her. 'Perhaps I can rizz her inside the dream too,' Yun Wuji thought to himself. He had never tried dream rizzing before. This could be a new experience.

"Alright! Lets do just that!" Yun Wuji clapped his hands and exclaimed excitedly

...

Absolute darkness, inky and complete, the kind capable of devouring every last trace of light, was the only presence in this place.

"Xiaodie!" A deep voice, filled with wrath and bitter disappointment, saturated with bone-deep hatred, echoed through the void. In the far distance a tall, vague shadow of a man appeared. His face remained obscured, impossible to discern clearly, yet the twisted features contorted in fury stood out unmistakably. "I raised you in vain! You betrayed your clan! Because of you our entire race will be exterminated! Because of you I will die!"

"It's all because of you!"

"Big sister, why did you betray us?! It hurts! It really hurts! I will be enslaved by the God Race all because of your selfishness!"

"Xiaodie! Why did you betray me?! You stole my Devil Pearl and condemned me and my clan to eternal damnation! I will never forgive you!"

"Xiaodie! How dare you?! You ruined my life!"

One after another, countless figures materialized from the blackness. Each one bore the same contemptuous, hate-filled expression. Overwhelming hatred and fury poured from them in waves, so intense it seemed they could scarcely wait to tear the object of their loathing apart, rip the flesh from bone, devour it raw, and drink the blood still warm from the veins.

"Sorry… I am sorry… I am sorry… I had no choice…"

Floating in the boundless dark void, Pan Xiaodie curled tightly into herself, shivering. Her soft whispers trembled with sobs. "It's all my fault… I am sorry… I am sorry… I was selfish… I shouldn't have… But… but I had no choice!"

The vague shadowy figures paid no attention to her pleas. They continued to hurl insults, their voices overlapping in a relentless storm of blame and condemnation. Some of them surged forward, held her by the hair, slapping her face, kicking her curled body, slashing at her skin with claw-like hands. Though their rage burned with the clear intent to tear her apart and end her, they could not truly kill her.

More and more figures appeared and some faded, giving way for more to appear. They took turns hurling insults and beating her for a long time, forming an infinite, never-ending circle.

Pan Xiaodie's trembling figure did not resist or retaliate. She remained in the same curled position, enduring the pain. It had always been like this for a long time.

"When will this end?"

The thought flickered briefly in her mind, only to be instantly crushed beneath a flood of self-loathing. These shadows despised her with fathomless hatred, but she hated herself far more. She loathed every choice she had made, every breath she still drew. "Why am I even thinking about this? I deserve this! I was the one who betrayed everyone! Because of my willfulness, I caused everyone who trusted me, everyone who loved me, to suffer!"

The scene continued for an unknown amount of time, until one day, without warning, a burst of pure white light erupted into the dark world.

The radiance tore through the void like a blade, scattering the shadowy figures in an instant. They shrieked and dissolved, fleeing before the blinding glow until none remained. Slowly the fierce light dimmed and contracted, leaving behind only a single serene ball of light hovering quietly in the air.

Faint pulses of light emanated from the ball, gentle and rhythmic, reaching toward the curled figure of Pan Xiaodie. The soft glow bathed her in a radiance she had never before been permitted to feel. Slowly she lifted her head. Wide, startled eyes fixed upon the hovering sphere as she whispered in astonishment, "What… is this?"

This strange ball was giving her a weird feeling, a sensation she had not felt for a very, very long time. It was a sense of peace, something she had never dared to think she would ever be worthy of feeling again.

Drawn irresistibly to that elusive sensation, Pan Xiaodie extended a trembling hand. Her body floated forward, inching toward the light slowly, as though afraid the slightest haste might shatter the fragile sensation. The dense white brilliance forced her eyes to narrow, yet she did not look away. At last her fingertip brushed the surface of the ball.

As she did, a soundless explosion erupted, engulfing her and the entire black space.

When Pan Xiaodie opened her eyes once more, she found herself standing on the gentle slope beside a lake. Warm sunlight danced across the water's mirrored surface, scattering golden ripples. Above her stretched a flawless azure sky. Small, delicate birds flew and sang in bright, joyful bursts. Bees hummed lazily among wildflowers while butterflies in vivid jewel tones drifted on the breeze.

"Why am I having this feeling so suddenly?" Pan Xiaodie stood still, staring at the scene before her. It felt like forever since she had witnessed something like this, something she used to think was mundane. Her heart tightened as a dense burst of sadness and guilt engulfed her. She began to feel sad for herself. Why had she wasted so much of her life wallowing in guilt, losing her own self?

Two lines of tears drifted down her cheeks, dripping onto the grassy ground. She began to feel guilty for hurting herself, for destroying her own life just to save someone else. Just because she had hurt others in a moment of rashness, she had tortured herself all this time.

She felt sorry for herself. She used to be the princess of the Pan Clan, the number one prodigy of the Devil Race. Why had this turned out like this? Why had she sunk so low?

Pa!

"This cannot do. I am Pan Xiaodie. How can I destroy myself and my soul for others? I will live for myself, and everyone else can fuck themselves!" Pan Xiaodie gritted her teeth and gave herself two strong slaps on the cheeks. The slaps were so strong they left clear, burning, bluish-red marks on her face. Lines of red blood dripped from her nose and mouth. "Ouch, it freaking hurts!"

"I will first find out where I am and leave this place."

Wiping the blood from her face with the back of her hand, Pan Xiaodie glanced around and started walking along the lakeside. With a renewed resolve burning inside her, she was no longer the person who had spent endless time wallowing in deep sorrow.

Now she was a woman determined to make up for herself, for all the time she had wasted and all the suffering she had forced herself to endure.

"What is that? A black butterfly?"

After walking for a short while, a black butterfly flying ahead caught Pan Xiaodie's attention. It flapped its wings steadily and left behind a faint trail of blackness that lingered briefly in the air before fading away.

There were many colorful and beautiful butterflies fluttered all around this place, yet this was the only black one.

Curious, she followed the butterfly. As she moved closer, she saw it head behind a tree. When Pan Xiaodie looked more carefully, her eyes shrank and she stood completely still. She watched the butterfly land gently on the hand of a person.
