Chapter 13 - Chapter 0013: Display of Divine Might

Treating patients was never a certainty. Unavoidable accidents often led to death or severe sequelae, such as paralysis or vegetative states. Because of this, many doctors were hesitant to take on critically dangerous cases, fearing the responsibility.

This was especially true in this case, as the patient was of no small importance—he was the son of Gao Zhinan from the Vast Sea Group. This filled many of the doctors on site with trepidation, as they worried about the potential repercussions.

After all, the surgery only had a twenty to thirty percent chance of success. It was far more likely to fail and result in death. Even if they were lucky enough to save him, the patient was almost certain to be paralyzed in one leg. A comminuted fracture like his usually left no hope of saving the limb.

Thus, no one wanted to bear such a responsibility. Hardly anyone present could afford to take it on—except for Liu Changshan. He alone was qualified.

"Dr. Liu, I need an assistant. Come into the operating room with me," Chen Fei said. He had already instructed a nurse to wheel the patient inside and now turned to Liu Changshan, who was standing by.

Although he was confident he could save the patient alone, this was the Central Hospital's operating room. Between the hospital's influence and the distrustful people outside, he had to drag Liu Changshan into this with him. That was the only way to ensure they wouldn't be disturbed.

Such severe injuries could not afford any mishaps.

"Xiaofei, what do you need me to do? His thoracic hemorrhage is very severe," Liu Changshan said with a serious expression as he entered the operating room.

The data from the advanced instruments confirmed his assessment: the young man on the operating table had an extremely severe thoracic hemorrhage and a comminuted fracture in his leg.

If they didn't act quickly, there would undoubtedly be complications.

"Do you have any Silver Needles? I need Silver Needles," Chen Fei said as he tore open Young Master Gao's clothes.

He had left his previous set of Silver Needles with the foreigner, Tucci, and hadn't had a chance to buy new ones. Right now, he was completely empty-handed.

"Silver Needles?" Liu Changshan was momentarily taken aback before immediately fetching a spare set of traditional Chinese medicine Silver Needles from within the operating room. It had to be said that as the largest general tertiary hospital in Northern Mountain City, their preparations were quite thorough. They catered to both Western and Chinese medicine, covering all bases.

"Xiaofei, what do you need the Silver Needles for?" Liu Changshan asked as he handed them to Chen Fei. Although he didn't understand traditional Chinese medicine well, he knew acupuncture was for internal medicine, right? What was the use of it now?

"To stop the bleeding. We have to stop the hemorrhage in his chest," Chen Fei said. He took the needle bag from Liu Changshan, and with a flick of his right wrist, it unrolled, revealing dozens of densely packed Silver Needles of various sizes.

With a flick of his thumb, he drew several needles of varying lengths, each as fine as a cow's hair, from the bag and began to sterilize them.

"Stop the bleeding? Using acupuncture to stop the bleeding?"

Upon hearing Chen Fei's words, Liu Changshan felt his jaw drop. That might be fine under normal circumstances, but this was a major thoracic hemorrhage! It was life-threatening! And he was claiming he could stop it with just a few Silver Needles? Was this some kind of joke?

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

But while he was still reeling in shock, Chen Fei had already made his move. His fingers moved with the nimbleness of a slithering snake, and the Silver Needles in his hand seemed to come alive. Amidst flashes of cold light, more than a dozen needles pierced the patient's chest and heart area with the grace of flowing clouds and moving water.

According to the data on the monitor, the severe hemorrhage in Young Master Gao's chest, which had been critical, began to stabilize as if he had taken a Miraculous Pill. The bleeding slowed and then stopped entirely.

This... this is simply a miracle! Liu Changshan, who had witnessed the entire event firsthand, was so shaken he could hardly find the words. It was utterly inconceivable.

He was, after all, one of the foremost authorities in the Central Hospital's cardiovascular department, and his clinical surgical skills were considered unsurpassed.

Across the entire hospital, perhaps only Dr. Xu from the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine could compare with him. Therefore, he knew better than anyone how incredibly difficult it was to accomplish what had just happened before his eyes. And yet, a young man in his twenties had actually done it! It's a genuine miracle!

"Alright, the thoracic hemorrhage is under control. We'll deal with the bone fragments in his lung lobe last," Chen Fei said, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "Dr. Liu, first secure his leg. I'll figure out how to treat it."

"Ah, right! I'll get on it immediately!" Liu Changshan said, startled out of his stupor. He immediately swung into action, working like an obedient and diligent intern.

He couldn't remember the last time he had so willingly and deferentially served as an assistant. It must have been five or six years ago, hadn't it?

While Chen Fei and Liu Changshan were hard at work in the operating room, the director of the Central Hospital arrived with Dr. Xu Zhenxing from the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a group of people.

At the same time, another group rushed over. "How is he? How is my son doing?" The man leading them was none other than Gao Zhinan, the head of the Vast Sea Group. He appeared to be in his forties, with distinguished features, piercing eyes, and an extraordinary presence.
