It had been a week since the dragons attacked Megacity VI.
On the surface, life had returned to normal. The endless rivers of traffic still crawled through the towering highways, neon advertisements still flickered against the sky, and the streets remained crowded with people desperately clinging to their routine. Shops reopened. Schools resumed. Offices buzzed. The city moved forward as though nothing had happened.
But beneath that illusion, cracks had begun to spread.
Cracks people did not dare acknowledge aloud.
Some buried them beneath fear, terrified that speaking of the attack would somehow invite the dragons back. Others drowned in quiet sorrow, haunted by the faces of those who never returned to their old selves. And then there were those whose grief had curdled into anger… an anger with no clear target, festering silently.
The people of Megacity VI were still alive.
But they were wounded.
