Chapter 6 – The School Attack

Adrien's POV

The morning at Midtown was… surprisingly normal. For once.

Classes passed without incident—no explosions, no sudden dimension rifts, no strange energy readings on my Miraculous. Just math, history, and Gwen sighing at Peter's doodles in his notebook.

By the time lunch rolled around, I actually thought, Maybe today I'll get through school like a normal teenager.

I grabbed my tray, sliding into a table beside Gwen and Ned.

"So," Gwen said, stabbing at her salad with surgical precision, "did you finally start on that history essay, Adrien?"

"Essay?" I blinked.

Ned chuckled. "That's a no. Dude, you've gotta stop spacing out. One day the teacher's gonna catch you planning world domination in your notebook."

I smirked. If only you knew. "Relax, I have… other projects going on."

"Like martial arts?" Gwen raised an eyebrow.

"Exactly," I said smoothly, deflecting. Not technically a lie.

A few tables away, Peter sat with Harry and MJ. They were laughing at something MJ had said, Peter looking like the weight of the world wasn't on his shoulders for once. It was… nice.

Too nice.

Because a second later, the school shook.

The overhead lights flickered, trays clattered to the ground, and a boom echoed from the front courtyard. Students screamed, ducking under tables.

I froze, recognizing the energy signature in the vibrations. That's not random. That's an attack.

Through the shattered cafeteria windows, three figures marched into view:

A man in purple armor, the Wizard, hovering off the ground.

Klaw, his sonic weapon glowing menacingly.

And Thundera, muscles rippling as electricity sparked around her.

I clenched my fists. This… this is Ultimate Spider-Man Episode 1. They're after Peter.

And if they were here, that meant one thing.

Spider-Man is about to blow his cover.

---

Chaos erupted.

Students scrambled for the exits. Teachers shouted for order. The villains stormed in, blasting lockers and desks aside like toys.

"Where is he?" Wizard's voice echoed through the halls. "Where is Spider-Man?"

I ducked low, my instincts screaming to transform. Bark's voice rang in my head. We can stop them together!

"No," I whispered under my breath. Not yet. This wasn't my fight to steal. This was Peter's story, his first real trial as Spider-Man. If I stepped in now, I'd change too much.

But I couldn't just stand by, either.

"Everyone, move!" I shouted, grabbing Gwen's wrist and pulling her toward the nearest exit. Ned trailed after us, panic written across his face.

We pushed through the crowd of fleeing students, shielding them when chunks of ceiling rained down from a blast. My chi training kicked in—I moved faster than an ordinary kid should've been able to, catching a falling beam just long enough for others to escape.

"Adrien—!" Gwen's eyes widened.

"Don't stop, just run!" I barked, letting the beam crash down once the path cleared.

That's when I spotted him.

Harry.

He'd been caught in the stampede near the stairs, shoved against the wall as debris collapsed around him. His leg was pinned under a chunk of concrete, his face twisted in pain.

"Harry!" MJ screamed from across the hall.

I sprinted. Without thinking, I channeled chi into my arms, enough strength to heave the slab off him and drag him clear. He groaned, clutching his leg.

"Broken," I muttered. "You're not walking anywhere."

Harry's eyes fluttered. "Adrien…?"

"Don't talk. Just hold on."

I hauled him over my shoulder in a fireman's carry and ran, dodging sonic blasts as Klaw tore through the hall.

Stay out of the main fight. Save who you can. That's your job today.

---

Spider-Man's POV

"Man, I can't even eat lunch in peace."

Webbing shot out of my wrist as I swung into the chaos, landing between Wizard and a bunch of terrified freshmen.

"You guys seriously need a new hobby," I quipped. "What is this, Villain Book Club?"

Wizard scowled. "Spider-Man. At last."

"Aw, you remembered my name. I'm flattered."

Thundera charged, electricity crackling down her fists. I vaulted over her, webbing her arms to a pillar. Klaw aimed his sonic blaster—I snagged it with a webline, yanking it sideways so the blast blew a hole through the wall instead of me.

Students kept pouring out of the building. At least most of them were safe. But I caught sight of Harry—injured, being carried by Adrien of all people.

Oh no. Harry.

My chest tightened, but I forced myself to focus. If I let them through me, more people would get hurt.

"Come on, Spidey," I muttered. "First real boss fight. Don't choke."

---

Adrien's POV

I got Harry to the nurse's office, laying him gently on a cot. His leg looked bad, but not life-threatening.

"Stay with me," I told him. "Help's coming."

He groaned, gripping my sleeve. "Don't… let MJ see me like this."

I snorted. "You'll be fine. Probably milk it for sympathy points."

He actually laughed, then passed out.

I exhaled, running a hand through my hair. My body screamed at me to jump back into the fray, to fight beside Spider-Man. But no. This was his moment.

All I could do was make sure nobody else got caught in the crossfire.

So that's what I did—herding students, shielding Gwen when stray debris flew, even dragging a terrified teacher out from under a collapsed desk.

And all the while, Peter—Spider-Man—was out there fighting like hell.

---

Spider-Man's POV

I'd like to say it was easy. That my quips carried me through like always. But… no. These guys were tough.

Wizard's tech outclassed me, Klaw's blasts rattled my bones, and Thundera nearly fried me twice.

Still—I couldn't stop. Too many people were counting on me.

With one final burst of webbing and a lucky kick, I managed to pin Wizard against the lockers. Klaw went down when I redirected his own sonic blast. Thundera? Well, she got wrapped up like an electric burrito.

The school was wrecked, but the villains were down.

And then, as I stood there panting, a shadow fell over me.

"Not bad, kid," a deep voice said.

I turned. A man in black, eyepatch gleaming, stood at the edge of the rubble.

Nick Fury.

Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

"W-What?" I stammered.

"You've got potential," Fury said, striding forward. "But you're sloppy. Reckless. You're lucky those kids got out alive." His gaze flicked to the nurse's office, where Harry was being treated. "Not all of them made it unscathed."

Guilt slammed into me like a truck. Harry. My best friend, hurt because I couldn't end the fight faster.

Fury didn't sugarcoat it. "You want to keep doing this alone, you'll get more people hurt. Or worse. But with S.H.I.E.L.D., you'll get training. Resources. Guidance."

I swallowed hard, looking down at my shaking hands.

This was bigger than me. Bigger than Midtown, bigger than my jokes.

Maybe Fury was right.

Maybe I couldn't do this alone.

---

Adrien's POV

By the time the police and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents swarmed the school, the danger was over. Students huddled outside, wrapped in blankets, parents arriving in a panic.

Gwen stood beside me, shivering but safe. Ned hovered nearby, eyes wide.

Harry was being taken to the hospital, MJ trailing after the stretcher with tears in her eyes.

I exhaled, relief washing over me. Nobody had died. Not today.

But as I glanced back at the ruined school, at the shadow of Spider-Man talking to Nick Fury in the rubble, a thought gnawed at me.

This world isn't going to stay quiet. This was just the beginning.

And if I wanted to protect the Miraculous, protect my friends, I had to be ready.

No matter what.
