Chapter 4701: The Opportunity of the Calamity Bearer
In the midst of the great calamity, the rules run wild and all living things suffer.
A portion of the reason for this stems from himself his own strength and the emergence of the Linguistic God World triggered the calamity earlier than expected. However, his part was tiny: the calamity was inevitable, its arrival a matter of sooner or later.
The real key in this calamity, however, is the object that flies forth from the deepest part of the Primeval Wasteland.
Even as the "Calamity Bearer," he cannot compare to that object.
Without him, the tribulation would continue; but without that object, there would be no catastrophe at all.
He had been to the deepest part of the Primeval Wasteland before, but not the innermost core he sensed danger there and did not enter.
At the beginning, every Sovereign and quasi Sovereign in the Chaos Wasteland knew chaos was coming, but it was only much later that they realized the calamity had truly descended.
They didn't know of the object only "Dao," the Calamity Sovereign, and the Chaos Wasteland Wild Dragon were aware.
Of course, not counting himself and the Primal Gem.
No one could truly see where or in what state the object existed; even the Primal Gem could only vaguely sense it.
It was said that when the tribulation reached its peak, the object would fully reveal itself, sparking a final struggle.
Yet, ahead of time, he had used the Nine Heavens Fate Technique to glimpse its location at that moment, fully understanding its purpose.
If someone else obtained it, there would be a chance to break through to Supreme, but failure was even likelier.
Just like in the last calamity, the strange flower was acquired by the World Shrouding Beast, who only managed to break through to Sovereign not to Supreme.
The strange flower was actually the fated opportunity of the Calamity Bearer: only the current calamity bearer could, by seizing it, become Supreme for sure.
Who the last calamity bearer was, no one knew.
Similarly, in this calamity, he was the calamity bearer, and the object now still hidden was prepared for him alone.
If others obtained it, their chance to advance to Supreme would only increase not guarantee success. But if he got it, he would certainly become Supreme. This was the unique good fortune reserved for the calamity bearer.
At the same time, he himself was another opportunity in this tribulation others could, by killing him, also have a chance at becoming a Supreme.
Gradually, Lin Moyu made sense of the rules of this great calamity: he and the object were both opportunities for others, but neither could guarantee them a Supreme breakthrough.
Only if he, as the calamity bearer, took the object could he become Supreme without fail.
This was a fair rule after all, the calamity bearer would face the pursuit and slaughter of countless others; any weakness, and survival was impossible.
Faced with such peril, a little more recompense was only right.
"What are you thinking, Lin?"
The Wine Elder's voice came.
Lin Moyu was just coming out of his musings, replying with a small smile: "Just sorted out a certain matter."
The Wine Elder smiled: "There's probably little left in this world that Lin can't figure out."
Lin Moyu replied: "No one can know everything for example, this calamity who can say they comprehend it all?"
Wine Elder shook his head, "Others, maybe; not you, Lin. I just know it."
Somehow, he trusted Lin Moyu's understanding of the world completely, with no real reason why.
Lin Moyu didn't explain: "Senior, once you return, you shouldn't leave again. I'll set up a grand formation for your sect so long as you stay inside, safety is assured."
The Wine Elder knew Lin Moyu's skill with formations; if Lin Moyu said it was safe, it certainly was.
"Thank you, then." The Wine Elder did not refuse, raising his cup in gratitude.
Lin Moyu replied: "Meeting you is fate no need for thanks."
A month later, Wine Elder's flying vessel stopped in the void.
Not far ahead lay a continent, crafted from a shattered realm home to the Tang Divine Sect.
Its founder, ancestor of the Tang lineage, was called Tang Shen; he established the sect in his own name.
The Tang Divine Sect fought its way out of the realms, surviving for countless eons in the midst of chaos, through endless struggles and domain spanning wars its inheritance never broken.
Previously, the sect's strongest was at full Chaos Realm; now, with Wine Elder at quasi Sovereign, the sect could expect everlasting continuation.
Wine Elder piloted the vessel into his sect, heading for its rear, disturbing no one.
He had a place entirely his own; without his leave, no one entered.
Amidst the mountains and lakes, quiet chambers stood by the waterside.
Wine Elder installed Lin Moyu there, keeping their arrival secret from all.
As Lin Moyu was a public enemy, Wine Elder could resist the world's malice through force of character, but few others could; most would attack Lin Moyu on sight, with predictable results.
Wine Elder left control of the whole area with Lin Moyu, who quickly set a grand formation over the mountains, sealing it off so that none might enter without permission.
Only once the array was set did Lin Moyu sit at the lake and enter meditation, mind plunging into the Linguistic God World.
What he was about to do was of utmost importance a turning point for his future path.
He required silence with no distractions, unsure how long it would take; this was why he'd followed Wine Elder here.
Outside, the world's rules would constantly seek him out, disrupting all.
Within the Linguistic God World, Lin Moyu invoked the Nine Heavens Fate Technique and glimpsed the world's own rules.
Unlike the Primeval Wasteland, the rules here were still childlike immature, loose, and unformed.
A newborn world was still evolving, unlike the Primeval Wasteland, which had been shaped for untold eras.
Not only were the rules loose, but there were not yet even any true Great Daos; the world was only gestating certain vague, insubstantial spirits. These would eventually form the first trace of the Great Dao.
Only when the world survived its first cycle of life and death would it produce multitudes of embodied spirits.
These would undergo countless ages, each then birthing their own Great Dao.
At the arrival of the second calamity, there would be mass death; those slain would turn into even more Great Daos, furthering the world's evolution.
Rules were the bones, Daos the flesh only then would a world be truly complete.
Lin Moyu calculated this process, from the world's birth to its perfection. What he must now do was, before the calamity, strengthen the world's essence.
Ignoring flesh and bone, he would enhance its soul.
To fundamentally alter a world in this way had never before been done he would be the first.
"This is my path!"
Lin Moyu cried, unleashing the Nine Heavens Fate Technique setting the whole Linguistic God World trembling.
