Chapter 4573: The Deduction Comes True
Back in those days, the Golden Winged Roc was said to be the fastest only the Time Space Boat outpaced it, but the boat had many restrictions and wasn't truly superior. Xiaopeng's bloodline had fully awakened, letting him show his former majesty; not only his speed, but his combat power had soared.
With another century to adapt, he'd be certain of fighting a Quasi Supreme one on one, and could even face a Supreme in direct battle.
Both Xiaoshu and Chaos Child were excited, but the feeling didn't last long before a tremendous will came crashing down.
The "Dao" had arrived; he sensed some deep change in the Dao, detecting Xiaopeng's awakened bloodline.
"Conceal your auras!"
Lin Moyu barked, activating the Hidden Spirit Pearl to its peak.
This was not the chaos realm, but the Primal Wilderness far from chaos. The Dao's power here was not so strong, so even if he noticed, there might not be much he could do to them.
Besides, with the Hidden Spirit Pearl and caution, there was every chance of avoiding detection.
The group retracted their auras. Xiaopeng stopped running his bloodline and slowed drastically.
Xiaoshu refrained from using spacetime powers; against the Dao, the best method was to do as little as possible otherwise it might backfire.
Since the Dao was likely just the Zhetian Beast, extraordinarily sensitive to spatial changes, even subtle shifts could be noticed.
Staying still was best.
The powerful will swept down, turning the surrounding billions of miles of void into a cage, hunting back and forth.
But the Hidden Spirit Pearl did its job, and no matter how the Dao searched, he found nothing.
After a short while, the Dao's will withdrew, yielding no result.
Xiaopeng sighed in relief, "Finally gone."
He'd been very nervous if discovered, there would be no escape.
But they had hidden well; with the Dao gone, they were safe.
After such a noisy awakening, as long as they stayed cautious, there should be no more problems.
Just as he relaxed, Lin Moyu said, "Don't let up yet keep your auras hidden, and keep watching."
More?
Xiaopeng froze. Suddenly, another mighty will descended no less potent than the Dao and even stronger in some ways.
Like before, this new will scoured the void for billions of miles.
In the end, it too found nothing and departed.
Xiaopeng muttered, "Who was that?"
Lin Moyu answered, "Who else? The Calamity Supreme."
Xiaoshu sighed, "Master's deduction came true. The Calamity Supreme really did have a fallback, a hidden plot."
He'd been surprised, but since Lin Moyu had foretold it, he was psychologically prepared.
Lin Moyu asked, "Xiaoshu, can you trace the direction of that second will?"
Xiaoshu replied, "Not exactly, but it came generally from the Primal Wilderness a very far distance."
Lin Moyu nodded. "That's enough Calamity Supreme really is hiding in the Primal Wilderness and has reached the Dao's level.
The Dao and Calamity Supreme one in Chaos, one in the Primal Wilderness are equals.
They have surpassed the Supreme, but not fully, and still fall short of the truly invincible.
What matters is that the descent of this will confirmed my deduction."
The location and timing of Xiaopeng's bloodline awakening, deep in the Primal Wilderness, had actually been Lin Moyu's plan all along.
He had known the moment Xiaopeng fully awakened, the Dao would descend.
He was confident of eluding the Dao, but wanted to see if any other will would appear.
If anyone did, it could only be Calamity Supreme if so, his reasoning would be confirmed.
A thought occurred to Lin Moyu. He roused the Primal Chaos Stone, "Wake up, I need you."
"Mmm..." The Primal Chaos Stone yawned, "Master, this is unkind. You'll get your comeuppance."
Lin Moyu was exasperated. "You're just a stone, why do you sleep? I need to ask if someone surpasses the Supreme but falls short of the invincible, what are they called?"
The Stone replied, "There's no special realm. Call them whatever 'Half step Supreme,' 'Failed Breakthrough,' it doesn't matter. So long as people understand you."
Truly casual, but not wrong: realms are just labels you understand.
Lin Moyu asked, "Then what happens if someone fails to break through to the invincible level?"
The Stone, ancient and experienced, said, "Two things: either their body and Dao perish and they die completely, not even reincarnating.
Or, on the complicated side, they survive and gain power just below the supreme, but face myriad restrictions from world rules.
Because they failed to transcend the world's laws, they're trapped by those laws movement grows hard, can't fight freely, can't kill wantonly, can't show themselves easily, and so on. Each failure varies, so do the restrictions, but there are many like this."
Supremes are rare one per world.
But failed breakouts abound, all stuck for various reasons surviving but constrained by the rules.
"Can those who fail ever break through again?"
The Stone answered, "Of course, as long as there is life, hope remains. I've seen people fail, but after eons of silence, get a heaven defying chance and finally break through.
But when that happens, they will always be the weakest of the invincibles, falling quickly to stronger rivals."
Clearly proud, the Stone even looked down on the invincibles. But Lin Moyu made no comment having survived in a lifeforbidden zone, the Stone had earned that arrogance.
Lin Moyu went on, "A world can have only one invincible. Right now this world has two failed breakouts what do you think will happen?"
The Stone said, "Hold on, Master, let me check."
He stretched out a tiny hand, rubbed his eyes, and the soul and domain gems on the Calamity Scepter lit up, sending strange energy into the void.
The soul gem infused the world's insubstantial side; the domain gem entered the real side.
Combining, the two gems let the Stone take in the situation at a glance not details, but the big picture.
Lin Moyu felt this was an unbelievable power; what would take him endless guessing, the Stone had found out in an instant.
A moment later, the Stone said, "There are actually three failed breakouts in this realm."
Some people keep posting spoilers in the comments. I delete them as best I can, but I can't control everyone. I also can't stop others from reporting those who post the spoilers which could end up getting them banned. hmmmm i wonder
