Chapter 4335 - 4335

Chapter 4335: The Divine Phoenix Ancestor

The Catastrophic Supreme had hidden the main array exceedingly well.

It was fragmented across countless regions, connected together by countless subarrays into a grand network.

Every subarray contained a faint line of connection a vein and even if one searched when the array was dormant, it might not be visible.

Now, as the formation raged endlessly, every breath filled with devastating attacks like a tsunami, finding that vein was nearly impossible.

Yet Lin Moyu had found it.

Earlier, when studying the subarrays, he noticed a peculiar line hidden within each one. Useless at first glance, but its pattern was anomalous. That anomaly was the clue.

Following that line, he reached the heart.

At last the main array.

Lin Moyu locked onto its array eye, the central node. What he needed now was not domination he knew he couldn't hope to claim it. At best, he could stall it for a moment.

"But a moment… is enough!"

"The veins connecting the subarrays are my tools."

He bided his time. When the battlefield shifted him into another subarray, he struck.

A custom rune, belonging only to Lin Moyu, burst from within the storm of attacks. It landed on that vein thread, sinking into its current.

Racing along like flowing water, the rune reached into the heart array, then condensed again into a chaos rune, wedging itself into the array eye.

BOOM!

The palace shook violently. Then stillness.

Every array in the palace froze.

Victory.

But Lin Moyu knew it was temporary.

This was a supreme array, with self restoring ability. Like a vast machine with endless gears, his rune was a foreign pebble momentarily lodged in its cogs. Soon, the anomaly would be consumed, ground away.

He had mere breaths of respite.

His gaze swept, burning every formation sequence into his memory. A treasure of learning an array surpassing his level, precious beyond belief.

Already, the rune was half dissolved. Time ran out.

"No more waiting!"

He summoned the Disaster Bearing Boat.

It surged toward the array heart like a streak of light.

The main exit of this monstrous array was there. Every other path was a dead end.

With a ringing like glass shattering, the boat smashed through the node

And suddenly, the world opened.

Lin Moyu realized, at last, he was inside the palace of the Divine Phoenix Ancestor.

A colossal statue stood before him.

A phoenix, wings spread in flight, twelve golden tailfeathers trailing like the sun.

"The… Divine Phoenix Ancestor."

Lin Moyu's eyes narrowed. It seemed like a statue, yet somehow radiated vigor. A living sculpture.

It reminded him of the Heavenly Void Son, who had embodied himself as a statue but was still alive.

This was the same. A self imposed seal.

On the phoenix statue's crown sat an old man in feathered robes, his shoulders bright with twelve golden plumes.

The elder smiled warmly, eyes twinkling as he waved.

"You finally came."

Suppressing his shock, Lin Moyu stepped off the boat and approached. His instincts told him the elder bore no malice.

And he had already guessed… this man was indeed the Ancestor of the Divine Phoenix Clan. Another being caught in the Catastrophic Supreme's grand design.

He bowed.

"Junior Lin Moyu greets the"

The elder lifted a hand, interrupting.

"No need. Old as I am, I am long dead. Those titles… shouldn't be named again."

Lin Moyu nodded gravely.

"You waited here for me, didn't you?"

The Ancestor chuckled softly, voice rich with fatigue.

"The road ahead is uncertain. Since I entered this design, I could only walk it to the end. Tell me, young one was my choice right?"

Lin Moyu's eyes gleamed.

"We who cultivate defy the heavens. If above lies Heaven, then break Heaven. And establish our own Heaven."

"Ha! Excellent!" The Ancestor laughed heartily. "To stand as Heaven itself that is the way cultivators must live!"

"But alas. Though my bloodline flourished, my limit was sealed by that blood. I could not go further. To rise again was nearly impossible… unless I broke the sky itself."

He sighed. "I chose not to accept fate. To oppose the heaven seven if impossible."

Lin Moyu replied, voice burning,

"Though the odds are slim… hope is never dead. I also will press forward."

The Ancestor nodded, expression soft.

"You carry his will. Yet you are not him. His design… you may use it. Twist it. Perhaps it will aid you."

The Supreme of Catastrophe had made many arrangements to resist Dao itself. But even he could not guarantee success.

It was a gamble: win, and you become Heaven. Lose, and you fall into eternal ruin.

Lin Moyu steadied his thoughts.

"There is one doubt that has haunted me. Senior, may I ask?"

The Ancestor smiled kindly.

"Speak."

Lin Moyu asked:

"He told me once: I am him, and yet not him. What does this mean?"

The Ancestor's eyes narrowed with amusement.

"And yet you already have the answer, don't you?"

"I… only guessed. I cannot be sure."

The elder chuckled.

"This puzzle… even I do not know fully. I am but one fragment. And there are many like me. If you would know the truth… then only by becoming Heaven itself will the veil be lifted."

Lin Moyu exhaled softly. He had expected such.

"Then so be it. I will walk this path to its very end."

The Ancestor grinned wider.

"Good. Then allow me to tell you of his design. Please bring out the item."

Lin Moyu lifted the Catastrophic Scepter.

Only through the scepter could truths be exchanged. Otherwise, Dao itself might overhear, and every design would unravel.

He touched the scepter against the statue.

The elder's sealed body emitted faint light. Through this channel, information streamed into Lin Moyu. The Catastrophic Supreme had cleaved his arrangements into countless pieces this was but one sliver.

When the torrent ended, Lin Moyu's expression was grave.

"…Three Domains, Four Extremities… and within the Ancient Desolation, a forbidden land."

The Ancestor sighed.

"This is the first step. I have guarded this place for countless years my mission is done. Now, the lead passes to you. My road… ends here."

Lin Moyu's eyes flickered. This directive matched that of the Heavenly Void Son. He was grasping only a corner of the iceberg. The Supreme's grand plan still stretched far beyond his sight.

He asked one last question, voice low:

"Senior. Why was the Ancestral City destroyed back then?"

The old man's smile dimmed.

"Because of that person…"

Again Lin Moyu pressed the Scepter to his sealed body.

And at last truth blazed into his mind.
