Chapter 9 - Hindering Royalty

The whole castle rushed up and about, preparing for the return of the princess. The decorations were raised high and the flowers were placed carefully in the vases. "Hurry up, hurry up," one man ordered around. "The princess is set to arrive by noon," he added. "Raise those banners high. Set those flowers straight come on people we don't have all morning," more people ordered. "Does anyone know where the princess stinky slave is?" the first man asked. "No sir," one servant answered. "He has not been seen all morning."

‎"He better show up to help if he wants to still be alive to keep his position. From the day I saw him I knew there was something off about him. Anyway if he dies, there are lot of beautiful young women who can replace him and do better than he," he said licking his lips. "Both of you," he continued. "Search the slave quarters and bring him to me. He'll regret the day he entered this place."

‎Draken straighten the bed leaving not a single wrinkle on it. He walked over to the wardrobe and arranged all the dresses in order. He collected all the dust which had blown through the window and disposed it while he covered the window with and emerald colored curtain. "Ahh," he sighed with his hands placed on his waist. "This is a room fit for m..."

‎'Knock, knock, knock.'

‎The sound resonated through the room. Draken stared at the door in confusion. He hadn't told anyone where he was so who was that.

‎'Knock, knock, knock.'

‎Draken walked over to the door and opened it slightly. "Who goes there?" Draken asked. "Sir Draken. I knew I would find you here," said the prince's voice. "Lord Beckett, what are you doing here and how did you know where I'd be?" he asked. "Your teachings," the prince answered. "You said to rise before the sun and to also do what people expect and do not expect when they least expect." "How does that apply to this situation prince," Draken asked again. "Everybody expects you to put Sister Estelle's room in order but they don't expect you to do it without anybody's orders and nobody expected that you'd start at the 3rd division of the day (3 am)," Beckett answered again. "Your knowledge seems to have grown greatly overnight. That's a quality of a great leader," Draken said as he opened the door wide to fully see the prince. "So why are you looking for me young master?" "I overheard Sir Arschküsse screaming for people to find you because you're supposed to help set up for Sister Estelle's return." "I don't know who he is but I'll be down in about five nimixs," The prince nodded, smiled and walked away.

‎"What do you mean he's not in his slave room. The princess is not here so where else can a low life like him afford to be," "Sir," one of the men said. "He's right over there." He pointed to Draken descending the stairs. "Get him for me," Arschküsse said. "Yes Sir Arschküsse," they said as they matched towards him. They chased after him but it seemed like everything was preventing them from catching up to him. Draken began help the ladies carrying the flowers and gifts. He kept working as the two men failed to catch him.

‎Draken kept helping with the arrangements. He grabbed a silk linen from one of the palace girls to help her hang it when he heard a familiar voice call out to him. "Draken my boy, please come here," the person called. Draken looked up and saw the king standing at the top of the staircase. "Of course Your Majesty," he said as he handed the linen back to the girl, bowed to her and took off to meet the king. "Draken I need you to help me arrange some gifts for Estelle when she returns," the king said. "I appreciate the offer but why me Your Majesty?" Draken asked. "Because you are her closest servant so you'll hand the gifts to her when she returns." Draken raised his left eyebrow then shrugged but the king didn't see. "Okay Your Majesty. Tell me what to do." The king smiled then handed Draken a box.

‎The duo worked in silence, completely hidden away from the outside world. The silence hung in the air until, "My daughter likes you, you know," the king said. "Pardon me Your Majesty, could you kindly repeat your statement?" "I said the princess, Estelle, my daughter, she likes you," the king repeated. "But how, why, why me?" The king shrugged and said. "I wouldn't know that but one thing I know is that she's scared of what her mother might say. That's why she ignores you randomly," the king said.

‎"The mother has forgotten what it was to be a young girl that's in love and that's why she doesn't like you being around her. She doesn't like males being around any of the princesses that's why I tried to make you Estelle's personal and only servant because I trusted you. I already tried with her sister Rose but the man changed his job to join the army and is now the General of my army." Draken chuckled and smiled knowing who the king was talking about. "But don't worry. If you two are nineteen and she still likes you then I'll persuade the queen to allow you two to get married so all I ask is to is for you to not hurt my daughter in any way," Draken nodded. "Your Majesty," Draken began. "I promise to make Estelle the hap...," Just then the door burst opened.

‎"What promises are you making to this pathetic, worthless, slave boy to marry him to my daughter. How dare you make that deal," the queen said raising her voice with every word. "Darling, calm down. " Ozzy said trying to cool her temper. "Calm! You're telling me to be calm while you simply gift our daughter to a pathetic boy whose life back in his home kingdom was like a gutter. After this you're..." "Listen to yourself Lysteria, is this what Perseus would have wanted," the king said cutting her off. The queen went mute. She couldn't find the words to let out of her mouth.

‎"You always use to say that Perseus was your personal servant. You always hated when people were associated with the word 'Slave'. You are the one you changed that law that these people are now called servants not slaves. You are the ones who even changed my perception of them so how the person who fixed me be broken herself? Ask yourself, is this what Perseus would have wanted?"

‎"Shut up!" she barked. "You know nothing about Perseus so just shut up." Just then loud trumpets played outside the castle. "The messenger has arrived. When Estelle herself arrives, that boy either changes his job or he gets thrown into the dungeon for life. And before you make an argument, remember who bears the true Elyrian blood." The queen turned and left the room. "Well let's get going," Ozzy said as he turned and smiled to Draken. The duo got out of the room and rushed to the king's dressing quarters. "I'll wait out here Your Majesty," Draken said as the king entered the quarters. "What are you talking about. Get in here. Take a bath and pick a dress." Draken hesitated for while. "Come on now. We don't have all day." Draken slowly entered the room and made his way to the bathrooms. He picked one of the rooms, took off his clothes and took a relaxing bath. After the short baths they made it to the dressing room. Draken found an extra towel and put it on his back. Both males pick out the best dresses they saw. "You've got good taste boy," Ozzy said patting him on the back. The towel was slowly sliding off but Draken quickly caught it. "Thank you Your Majesty," Draken said as if he was scared but Ozzy ignored it. The both of them quickly dressed up and rushed downstairs to join the rest of the crowd. As they stood there a man running with full speed burst through the door. "Your, your majesties," he panted. Some people rushed to his aid. He looked bruised and battered. "Your Majesties, Your Majesties," he managed to cough. Ozzy and Lysteria rushed and knelt down beside him. "What's wrong? Is the..., is the princess fine," Ozzy stuttered. "Your Majesties, Your Majesties the princess, the princess has been, the princess has been captured," he managed to say before passing out.
