"That was quite the entertaining display." Alix smiled to herself replaying the earlier incident in her mind. She was interested in that...um...
What was her name? Alice Nomad, I think? Her name isn't important! Just that she was in F-class and displayed interesting skills. 'Most likely a Spirit Savant.' Alix reasoned.
She was currently being lead along side the other people wearing red badges now known to her as students of the Martial University. She now understood that her test taker likely mistook her for a martial artist due to her test somehow but that test was highly unprofessional.
She wasn't even fully certain what criteria landed her here. 'I'll file a complaint later."
'Do ya think they'll take it?" Alix shrugged to the fish's question.
'I have no idea. If I showcase my sorcery skills they should place me in the Spellcaster's University seeing as skilled combat sorcerers are difficult to come by."
'I don't see why they would need any combat sorcerers when combat mages are much more useful and easier to come by. They also cost less to endorse and even-"
"Alright I get!" Alix exclaimed but she didn't earn any stares from the surrounding students. Most of them were already staring at her.
After walking a while they arrived at the tall large building decorated in red and she suddenly realized she'd underestimated just how big this building truly was.
Her old school in Nogreni felt decently large for her. Around the size of a high ranking noble's mansion.
This, however, was on an entire other level clearly equaling the size of a palace. Maybe even two palaces side by side? No, that was too ridiculous even in concept. The teachers leading the student turned around and one began addressing them.
"Alright! I know that today has been hectic so far but it isn't over yet. As you may know, each instructor had a separate way of ranking your skill level during the general selection and ranking test but we still have one more thing to decide."
The students stood in anticipation not quite certain what their next test was going to be but they were ready for anything. They were here to become knights after all. The female teacher felt proud seeing the students exhibit such determination. She inhaled deeply building the tension.
"It's time to determine your dorm arrangements!" She spoke with vigor in her voice inciting the students to cheer. This would by many their first times away from their parents after all. This first true milestone of their lives.
"Separate the lines into male and female arrangements." The crowd began to organize itself by gender the girls standing in front of the female teacher and the boys in front of Alix's test administrator Vance Warren who was still watching her.
Alix was starting to feel that the man had some other reason for putting her into the Martial University.
"Okay!" The female instructor announced. "We will now lead each group to their dorms separately where they will be able to choose a room. Let's go." With very little warning both instructors dashed in opposite directions at high speeds.
The students stood in a daze.
They were unsure on what had just happened. All except for four. Two boys including Eric and two girls including Alix immediately took off after the teachers.
"Wait do the first ones there get first rights to room choosing?"
"Shit! Why didn't I think of that?! Come on!" After the momentary delay the rest of the students followed their leaders in a desperate dash. They were suddenly aware of how dire the situation could get were they to be the last to arrive.
Alix, on the other hand, was running at what she would call a leisurely pace. It wasn't her top speed but it was far faster than the average person. Making it a bit less surprising that someone was directly beside her.
"You were pretty quick to react, Huntress." Alix ignored the statement for a moment until she noticed that she girl was clearly waiting for her to respond. "Were you talking to me?"
"Noo, I was talking to the wind. Of course I was talking to the only other person around." Alix felt very uncomfortable. This girl was quite coy and that was the type of person that Alix preferred not to associate with.
"Of course, I apologize." The girl chuckled.
"It's fine, I was just making a dumb joke. My name is Ginger Seazzle. What's yours?"
"Alix Ren."
"Ooh. Like Sala Ren?" Alix frowned. "How do you know my mother?"
"Wait she's actually your mother? Are you kidding?! All the girls in Pesinwok know Sala Ren! I literally looked up to her my entire life! She's the reason I want to become a knight!"
Alix, realizing that this nuisance of a girl was likely going to continue being a nuisance and felt it was about time that she actually looked at her. She turned her head to actually analyze the girl.
Tan skin, blue eyes, black hair tied into two buns, and rather tall. She had a very fit figure with a sword sheathed at her side. Alix took in all of the information and came to one conclusion.
'She seems fine.'
"Hello? Alix?"
"What is it Sicle?" Ginger frowned a bit.
"My name is- you know what call me whatever. I was just wondering if your mom was back? Like for the first time in a decade the Penultimate Cast-Iron Pugilist has returned to us!"
"Who is that?" Ginger was gob smacked.
"You don't even know her nickname? Tell me you at least know about Angel's Apostle."
"That one has to be made up." Ginger was so shocked that she lost her balance for a moment.
"There's no way. This can not be! One of them is a teacher here and you still don't know them!" Alix was fully regretting engaging in a conversation with this girl. She was clearly some super fan of her mother's past self which Alix doesn't really know much about because her mom never really talked about it.
All Alix knew was that Sala used to be a knight in the army. It was at this moment that Alix could see a building just ahead. Assuming that this was their destination Alix took the opportunity to exit the conversation.
"Looks like we've made it to the dorms. I shall see you over there." Alix moved Mo to her left arm and lifted Trouler in her right.
"What do you-" Alix didn't let her speak. She instantly doubled her speed and left the girl in her dust. Ginger stared after Alix with her eyes wide. "I may have just found the coolest person in this entire school!"
Alix came to a sliding stop right in front of the the teacher from earlier. "You got here quite fast! I understand how you earned that A-ranking now!" Alix placed Trouler down and got straight to the point.
"Can I choose my room now? I would rather do it before the next person get's here." The teacher had a pained expression on her face. It didn't even take a second for Alix to understand what the expression stood for.
"Let me guess. No monster's in the dorm!"
