The second half of the battle between Ash and Morrison was chosen randomly to be held on the grass field.
"Stand by for battle, Breloom!" After the battle started, Ash decided to be courteous and he was the first one to send out his Pokémon. Since it was a grass field, he decided to send out another one of his Grass-type Pokémon that didn't get the chance to battle yet.
Breloom is a dual Grass-type and Fighting-type Pokémon that is also very skilled in a multitude of other types of attacks, so Ash believed that he would be perfect for this round.
After being caught by Ash, Breloom adjusted his skill structure under Ash's tough training and coaching from his other teammates, and now he was much more physically powerful and had a larger range of movement.
In addition, Ash had exchanged a highest-quality Toxic Orb for it, meaning Breloom activated its Poison Heal ability the very instance he was called out from his Poké Ball.
Under the influence of Poison Heal Ability, he can recover his physical strength over the battle, which means the longer the battle, the better chance he has at winning.
And as the first Pokémon to appear in the second half, this is a perfect choice to test the other side, though it was really kinda unnecessary.
"Trainer Ash took the lead in sending out his Breloom! What Pokémon will Trainer Morrison send out to battle? And will he make a comeb—-?" The commentator was about to continue but was too stunned before he could continue, as if he noticed something unusual about Breloom, which he did.
It was Winona who noticed the purple aura before the others in the young people group, "Huh? Ash's Breloom seems to be poisoned!"
Gary and Tyson both took a closer look and found that it was indeed the case. The more knowledgeable Gary immediately understood what was going on and turned to Ash's companions from Hoenn, "Brock, May, could it be that Ash's Breloom has the rare Poison Heal Ability? But how did it get poisoned?"
May nodded brightly, "Yep, and during training Ash said this was because of an item called the Toxic Orb, so there's that."
"Steelix, go into battle!" Morrison was burning with fighting spirit at this moment, more than he felt before in the first half, "Use Dragon Breath!"
Dragon Breath, as the name quite literally implies, is a Dragon-type skill, known as the the strongest type, but Ash's Breloom and other Fighting-type Pokémon had always adhered to their Trainers saying of "Fighting-types were born to fight," making them all have the courage to fight even the strongest of opponents, not to mention this beginner-tier Dragon-type attack!
What's more, the part Steel-type Steelix was weak to the Fighting-type itself.
"Mind Reader!"
In this grass field, Breloom seemed to find himself at home. It easily avoided Dragon Breath by running low, and with Ash's command, a faint pink light flashed in his eyes.
This was a skill he had learned from one of his seniors, Hitmonlee. It is very effective when combined with the move High Jump Kick which has a low accuracy rate and has the drawback of inflicting huge damage onto itself if it misses.
And Breloom also has another one of these powerful Fighting-type ultimate moves but it too suffers from a low hit rate.
Mind Reader activated, Ash clenched his fist fiercely and did a punch motion, "Dynamic Punch!"
Breloom's figure flashed past Steelix, loud thud and sparks appeared, and all of it without Morrison even being able to see what happened at all.
Steelix was knocked into the sky by the force of the punch, even having a large dent on the area where Breloom hit it. Being able to cause that large of a dent to a Pokémon with a high natural Physical Defense like Stellix goes to show how powerful that attack was.
This move also had the effect of causing the confusion status effect to happen to the opponent.
"Steelix, show them our courage! Use Iron Tail!"
Though the punch was very powerful and did incredible damage to Steelix, it could not make the iron snake lose its ability to fight. Steelix was knocked into the air and was obviously quite confused, but its tail still shone with a metallic white light.
Morrison's fighting spirit was burning hot, and now that he finally made the decision to have a final fight with Ash without regrets, he was using all his encouraging energy to help him cross that limit he put on himself to break.
He knew that his Steelix was confused but idly standing here wouldn't do any good, so he forcibly issued the Iron Tail order. And his Steelix did not disappoint, but the attack was a little off track as Breloom knew what was coming.
"Avoid it!"
With Breloom's speed, he could have easily avoided this attack even without needing Ash's commands, but Ash couldn't let that happen or he'd think himself as being an incompetent Trainer.
"Steelix, use Dig to set up!"
Thankfully for Morrison, he had a back-up move just in case things went south. And it did as Iron Tail missed, but Steelix landed back to the ground quite smoothly. Luck seemed to be on his side as his chaotic Confusion status was also lifted and he dug straight through the grass to get to the bottom of the field.
For a moment, the entire grass field was shaking like crazy from Steelix swimming under it.
But in fact, when it came to using moves like Dig, Ash was also very experienced in it. His Aura power could easily detect Steelix's position underground, and with some common sense and calculations by his Ciel, he can also predict where to attack and at the very specific time needed.
Ciel got ready, [Babe, according to my calculations, Steelix will appear behin-]
But now Ash doesn't need to bother so much, "Dynamic Punch!"
[Since you ignored me, no fun sex tonight!] She yelled in sadness.
Ash could only smile at his lover, knowing that the moment he goes in, everything she says now will get thrown away and they would be back to normal.
——
The moment Ash gave the order, a light flashed in Brelooms eyes!
Its punch suddenly reached down in a very specific angle, and a merciless Dynamic Punch hit Steelix on the head just as it was about to break out of the ground.
With a bang, Steelix has been nailed into the grass field again.
"Steelix lost the ability to fight, meaning Breloom wins this round!" The referee directly announced the winner.
"It's amazing. Ash's Breloom knocked Steelix out of combat with just two punches! Now that Morrison has lost four of his six Pokémon, what will his fifth Pokémon be? And will he able to make a comeback?" The commentator was looking forward to Ash's new Pokémon.
Yes, since he knew who was going to win this battle, and he also knew that Ash liked to change his Pokémon's for every round, he wanted to see all the new Pokémon Ash has as every last one of them has been so eye-catching.
"Gligar, enter the battle!" Against Breloom, which is a Fighting Attribute, Morrison took out his adorable Gligat, which is a Flying-type Pokémon.
However, Ash took his Breloom back at this moment, "Stand by for battle, Flygon!"
Like Gligar, Flygon also has the Ground-type and can also fly well because of its ability and Dragon-type, so the battle between these two should be interesting.
Right?
Maybe.
But when it comes to power? Yeah, let's not even go there.
"Damn it, Ash, just how many Pokémon do you even have?" Morrison was confused. Throughout his entire journey so far, he had caught a total of six Pokémon, all of whom he used.
He, like May and most Trainers, has just finished assembling his initial team of six. His level and his financial ability is not nearly enough to support him in catching and training more Pokémon.
But as for Ash, he had all kinds of Pokémon emerging endlessly from his balls, and each one was so powerful and well trained.
But no matter what, this just means that he has to rely on his Pokémon's strength to defeat all in his path, "Gligar, use Steel Wing!"
Ash glanced at Flygon who turned around to nod at him and said with a calm smile, "Dragon Claw!"
His Flygon, like most of his species, has a rather gentle personality, but when it comes to battles, the personality instantly changes and he becomes even more reliable in battle. Flygon had a high degree of recognition for Ash from the moment they met during the Jirachi incident, so their compatibility was naturally also very high.
Flygon gathered and condensed cyan colored Dragon-type energy in his claw, and then stretched that energy out across its claws to activate Dragon Claw.
One claw clamped Gligar's small head, and the other then slapped it hard to crash on the ground below.
"Gligar loses its ability to fight, meaning Flygon wins this round!" The referee said in his usual loud but stoic voice.
The level gap was simply too big, and the result was obvious from the moment they were sent out. This defeat left Morrison with only his last Pokémon able to fight anymore.
And it was non-other than his Metang, who had just completed its evolution from a Beldum with only Take Down to a much stronger form where it can actually do damage to others and not cause damage to itself.
Like before, Ash took his Flygon back after it hit its moment to shine and sent out his next Pokémon, "This is it, Lairon! Stand by for battle!"
Steel vs. Steel!
At the beginning of Ash's journey in the Hoenn Region, in Deword Island, he met Steven and thought the Pokémon Steven would give him would be a Beldum, the first-stage of his signature Pokémon, but Ash didn't expect it to be a Aron with its Hidden Ability.
Now in a way this can be seen as a fateful battle between Lairon and Metang, the evolved form of Aron and Beldum, respectively.
"Metang, use Take Down!" This time it was Morrison who took the lead in launching the attack. He still used the fighting style of Beldum, the one he was most used to. However, it was also because much time hadn't passed and so he didn't get to properly teach Metang to use other skills.
However, responding to this, Ash has a more powerful collision attack, "Double Edge!"
Heavier and more powerful, Ash's Lairon is like an iron chariot. Rushing like crazy despite its low Speed and high weight, even knocking Metang away by a considerable distance when the two collision skills hit each other.
"I knew you were the strongest, Ash!" Although he was at an absolute disadvantage and knew his chances of winning were the same as someone like him catching a Rayquaza, Morrison had a great time battling once he dealt with his inner issues, "Metang, give everything you got and use your strongest Meteor Mash!"
This was also a Steel-type move, and the power of this punch is extraordinary as it was considered the signature move of Metagross, a Champions Ace and a powerful Pokémon known as a Pseudo-Legendary.
Ash didn't dare to neglect this, "Iron Head!"
Another head-on collision between two strong Steel-type attacks triggered another round of cheers! This is a real battle they have been waiting for, between Pokémon's who had the power similar to each other and not overwhelming compared to the other.
"The two sides collided head-on again with new moves!" In the smoke, Metang flew out. "Metang was knocked out again despite going faster, and you all know what they say—the faster something is, the stronger they are. This again goes to show how powerful this Lairon is!"
"This will be our last attack… Double Edge!" Ash murmured, this battle was finally coming to a close.
"Metang, use your Meteor Mash attack again with all your strength! We have nothing to lose now!" Morrison didn't retreat at all and instead charged forward resolutely.
Until Metang was hit hard and crashed on the grass floor leaving a trail of dirt.
"Metang lost its ability to fight, meaning Lairon wins this round! So the winner of this round is none other than Trainer Ash from Pallet Town!"
