Its body was egg shaped with orange claws just sticking out of the bottom. It had a tiny beak with the big red thing all roosters seem to have and a row of big red feathers on the top of its head. Its eyes were kind of off putting when it stared directly at me from the ground in front of me, two big black rings with a white iris, I think, in the middle. It had wings on its sides, and it fluttered at me as it tried not to fall over from its sudden upheaval from my chest
"What the hell ARE you?" I asked out loud, wondering if someone had slipped me something last night and I was having a weird trip
When the thing used its wings to brush it off, the LAST thing I expected was for it to uses it's claws to write something in the sand. I watched dumbfounded as it slowly wrote out actual letters that I could read

Pink fur all over its body, except for its stomach from what bits I could see, and two massive whiskers on each cheek. I couldn't see its eyes because they were closed as it held my arm and cuddled it while seemingly asleep. It was honestly really cute, except for the part where it refused to let go.

After dealing with all of that I finally noticed the clothes I was wearing, or rather the rags. I'd apparently lost my favorite jacket too, which sucked because I'd had that thing special ordered to look just like Edric Elward from Half-Chrome Chemist, one of the best anime I ever watched, since everyone I know said I looked so much like the main character
"Aw man, I really liked these clothes and that jacket cost me a weeks' worth of wages!" I complained to my audience of two. I sighed, stood up, and leaned back to get a knot out of my back. When I stood up fully, I looked around for any sign of people. "Maybe I can get someone to take me to a hospital? Get whatever is in my system flushed out and wake up from this crazy shit"
Turning forwards I see a long stairway up the side of a mountain? Is it a mountain if it's stupid tall but not very wide? I can see where the edges of it are but not the top, so?

On the screen it says:

It appears to be some kind of electronic device, but its odd design is unlike anything I've ever seen.

I've decided to take photographs of the island using this device, and use them along with this journal to document my findings

'Weird,' i ponder the orbs, 'kinda reminds me of those balls you use to catch things in those Tenindo games.' Putting them away as best i can i stand back up
Not seeing any reason to put off the stairs anymore, I sigh and start walking up them. Luckily, I was right and it was a much shorter trip. At the top I was met with a large stone archway that led out to a ledge, where I could finally see where I was in full
I audibly gasped as I looked out to the horizon. Across the land I stood on were fields and forests as far as the eye could see. I appeared to be on some kind of inland island, connected to the rest of the place by expanses of water that shined in the sunlight. Far to the left I could see a MASSIVE volcano, with rivers of lava flowing from the peak, and to the right I could see a giant snow-covered mountain and a desert even farther right than that
All of that, every bit of it, paled in comparison to The Tree. So tall it covered the horizon and so wide it looked like it could cover all the different lands I could see at once. The trunk was massive and had a bright green glow shining from within. Something about this tree reminder me of the Norse tales of a tree that held 9 worlds in its branches. If such a tree existed, I think I might be looking at it
"Holy shit," I mutter to myself, stun locked at how vast The Tree was. A chill ran up my back, and I looked down at Chikipi and the pink cat that I had woken up with. I really looked at them, for the first time picking out the details. The multitude of feathers that made up Chikipi's head crest and the individual fur covering the cat. "I'm not hallucinating, am I?" I ask out loud
Chikipi just clucks at me, like it was saying 'Figure it out already dumbass?', while the cat hugged my arm, still fucking asleep and cuddling my arm without a care in the world

"Hey! You look lost!" I hear a voice call out from a bit down the hill from where I'm standing. Turning to look I see a sitting by a campfire. She had dark purple hair and pulled back in a ponytail that hung down her back. "Palpagos? I've never heard of that place," I questioned her. I had seen a world map plenty of times in my travels and I had never even seen anything like this
She chuckled, "Won't find it on a map pretty boy, Palpagos is a whole other world than where you or I are from. Now, you say you just woke up on the beach, right?"
"Uh, yeah. That's where I met this thing," I point at Chikipi, who was observing the campfire with a disturbing amount of focus in its eyes, "and this…thing?" I held up my arm, cat STILL asleep and hugged to it. "That'll be Cattiva," she says and points at the cat, "Honestly surprised it's holding you like that. The entire species are natural born cowards who run from everything usually." She takes a moment to look me up and down, like she was studying me in her head.

I looked at the sphere and then at Cattiva and considered what to do here.
I raise the sphere to the cat's head and gently tap it. In a flash of light, she disappears into the sphere, and, with two quick shakes, it closes and falls into my hands again. I blink as I try to reason how the hell that works, before hearing the woman speak up again
"By the way, didn't introduce myself. I'm Yoruichi, you could say I'm a bit of an expert in catlike pals," She said with a proud grin and a wink, "Gotta say I'm curious if that was a one-time thing or if you'll have that effect on other Pals"
I shrug, not really understanding myself, before I hear a beep from my back pocket. Reaching back, I pull out the pad and see another update happening

With a quick flash I see Cattiva's sphere disappear and can feel the bag of coins in my pocket flash away as well. When I look at the pad again, I can see a picture of Cattiva in the [Party] space and the coins in [Inventory], which also tells me that its 880 Pal Coins total

Never seen one of those before" She stood up and walked closer, making me realize that she was almost a foot taller than me, and leaned against my shoulder to look at the pad in my hands. She nods again, "Oh yeah, they made most of the currency we use nowadays. A way to "civilize" us all a bit more." She scoffed, "all they did was make sure they controlled trade in every settlement so they can enforce their own rules over us all"
Shaking her head, she pointed north, "Anyways, if you wanna learn more about the islands you should head towards the nearest settlement. Its a bit beyond those hills, you'll notice when the grass and trees turn yellow and it's just a bit beyond there." She gave me a slap on the ass, making me jump, and said, "Now be careful cutie, maybe I'll see you there in a day or so. I need to get back to my walk." She turned moved back to her campfire and bent over to grab her stuff

"Well, other than the massive gangs and the police force that controls the economy, what else should I be on the look out for?" I ask, hoping to move on
"Well," she began, "Pals come in all shapes and sizes. Some big, some small, some humanoid and some monstrous. A lot are also passive and won't attack you out right unless you attack them first or you bother them too much"
"So, mind my business and stay out of trouble," I conclude
"That's right," she nodded, "There are exceptions though. Alphas and Predator Pals are MUCH more aggressive. They attack on sight even if their lesser cousins would run or ignore you. They are stronger, faster and bigger so you can't exactly miss them"
Alphas and Predators? I wonder just how dangerous they really are if she's giving me such a serious warning. I'll have to keep an eye out and hope I can avoid them
"What else can you-" I go to ask for more information but stop as I nearly trip over what I at first think is a small moving mound of dirt with two big leaves on it. On a closer look however, I see two black eyes and the derpiest face I have EVER seen in real life. It didn't look like this thing had more than two thoughts in it's head as a time. Looking up at her and then down at the little slime in front of me I shrug and kneel down to talk to it, no reason to attack it if it's peaceful right?

When the energy dissipated she went for one more hit but barely missed as the Gumoss contracts it's body to the ground to avoid it

Clearing the last of the mud off, I smile at Blair and say, "Well, it took a minute, but you really helped me out. Thanks, little lady"
