Chapter 11 - Volume 2: The Divine Decree

Chapter 11: The Void-King's Decree

The silence in the secret sanctum was no longer empty. It was heavy, vibrating with the residual energy of a shattered god-seed.

Horus stood in the center of the chamber, his feet barely touching the cool obsidian floor. The "Diamond Sphere"—the purified essence of the Chaos Seed—had merged with his chest, leaving a faint, glowing mark shaped like a starburst over his heart.

He took a breath, and it felt as if he were breathing in the starlight itself.

[NEW TRAIT UNLOCKED: VOID-SIGHT]

— You no longer see the world as it is. You see the world as it was meant to be, and the cracks where it can be broken.

Horus opened his eyes. The silver and gold light didn't just glow; it projected two beams of radiance that pierced through the thick incense smoke. He looked at the stone wall in front of him. He didn't just see limestone and hieroglyphs; he saw the "Ka" or the soul-flow of the stones themselves. He saw the ancient history of the slaves who carved them, their sweat and blood turned into translucent blue threads.

"Is this... what the primordial gods see?" Horus whispered. His own voice sounded metallic, echoing with a strange reverb.

He looked down at his shadow. It was no longer a flat, dark shape on the floor. It was thick, like spilled ink, and it moved with a slight delay. As Horus raised his hand, the shadow didn't just follow—it stepped out of the two-dimensional plane, its hand becoming a claw of solid darkness.

"A sentinel of the Void," Horus realized. "Born from my own darkness, purified by my light."

He turned and walked toward the heavy stone doors of the sanctum. Usually, it took four temple guards to heave the bronze levers to open them. Horus didn't touch the levers. He simply willed his new "Void-Step" into existence.

In a blink, the space between the inside and outside of the room collapsed. There was no movement, only a momentary ripple in the air. Horus appeared on the other side of the closed doors instantly.

The High Priest, Anen, was waiting in the hallway, clutching a staff of cedarwood. When Horus appeared out of thin air, the old man stumbled back, his eyes widening in terror.

"Great King!" Anen gasped, dropping to his knees. "Your... your presence... I can barely look upon you without my eyes burning."

"Rise, Anen," Horus commanded. He tried to soften his gaze, but the silver light of the Moon Eye continued to pulse. "The Weaver is dead. But the threat to Egypt has only shifted its shape."

"The people are celebrating, Majesty," Anen said, his voice trembling. "They say the Golden Falcon has brought a thousand years of peace. They do not know of the black pearls or the shadows."

"Then they are fools," Horus said, walking past him toward the balcony that overlooked the city of Memphis. "Peace is a mask that the weak wear while the strong sharpen their blades."

He stepped onto the balcony. Below him, the sprawling city was a sea of torches and celebration. He could see the Nile, a dark ribbon of life, and the distant pyramids silhouetted against the stars. But with his Void-Sight, the celebration looked different.

High above the city, invisible to the mortal eye, a red fog was beginning to settle. It was coming from the North—from the "Red Land" where Set had fled.

"Set is not hiding, Anen," Horus said, his grip tightening on the stone railing. The stone began to crack under his fingers, glowing with a faint silver heat. "He is building a pyre. He is gathering the nomadic tribes, the sorcerers who worship the Great Serpent Apep, and the forgotten monsters of the deep desert. He intends to turn the Nile into a river of blood."

"But you are the King! You have the army of the Two Lands!" Anen cried.

"An army of men cannot fight a storm of ghosts," Horus replied.

He reached into the air and closed his fist. Suddenly, the shadow at his feet surged upward, wrapping around his arm like a living cloak. It solidified into a weapon that had never been seen in Egypt—a scythe of black glass, its blade curved like the beak of a falcon and shimmering with the light of the Moon Eye.

"I will not wait for him to reach our gates," Horus declared. His voice grew louder, projecting across the entire city, silencing the celebrations below. Every citizen of Memphis felt a chill go down their spine as if a god were standing directly behind them.

"People of Kemet!" Horus roared. "The sun sets on the old world! Tomorrow, we do not march for peace. We march for the end of the Shadow! I, Horus, Son of Osiris, decree a New Age. An Age of Iron and Spirit!"

[QUEST UPDATED: THE MARCH OF THE FALCON]

Target: The Fortress of the Red Star.

Reward: 50,000 Divine Favor; The Crown of the Void.

Horus looked toward the North. The Red Star flickered as if acknowledging his challenge.

Deep in his heart, the Diamond Sphere pulsed. It was hungry. It didn't just want to protect Egypt; it wanted to consume the chaos of the world and refine it into order.

Horus turned to Anen. "Tell the generals. We leave at dawn. And tell them to bring no shields. Only spears."

"No shields, Majesty?" Anen asked, confused.

Horus's eyes flashed—one gold, one silver. "In the shadow of my wings, there is no need for a shield. I am the shield."

Strategic Enhancements for your WebNovel Upload:

The "Void-Step" Reveal: This is a classic "Cheat Skill" reveal. Readers love seeing the protagonist do something "impossible" like walking through walls.

The High Priest's Reaction: This provides "Face" to the protagonist. By showing a powerful NPC being terrified/awed by Horus, it confirms to the reader that Horus is now "Overpowered" (OP).

The New Weapon: Giving the hero a "Void Scythe" makes him stand out visually. Most heroes use swords or spears; a scythe is dark, cool, and memorable.

The "No Shields" Command: This is a high-alpha, "Badass" moment that will get people commenting in the chapter reviews.
