Chapter 40 - ch 040 I don’t want you to get into trouble.

"It's all the same; it's all stealing—it's all a crime," Chu Ci said coldly.

"I'm sorry," Meng Yuxin replied, apologising to her cousin. "It's my fault. I'll accept any consequence you decide, even if it means calling the police."

Chu Han interjected with urgency, "How can we call the police? The items in question have an unknown origin! You can't report stolen goods when it's unclear who actually owns them. Are you willing to go to jail over this?"

Chu Ci watched the two of them argue, showing no emotion, as if she were simply observing a performance.

Chu Ci didn't want to explain anything further to Chu Han and Meng Yuxin. She felt sleepy and wanted to return to bed, as she still had things to deal with later at night.

Chu Han frowned and stopped Chu Ci from continuing. "I don't want you to get into trouble. Let's resolve this matter properly, okay? As long as you didn't steal it, we can go to the police and explain everything clearly."

Although Chu Han doesn't care for Chu Ci as deeply as he does for Meng Yuxin, she is his sister, and he still wants her to be safe.

Chu Ci glanced at Meng Yuxin and said, "You should address her problem first."

After saying this, Chu Ci ignored both Chu Han and Meng Yuxin and went back to her room to sleep.

Chu Han's beautiful eyebrows were tightly knitted together, and his handsome face was filled with sorrow. Meng Yuxin pulled on Chu Han's arm and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Xiaohan, it's my fault."

Chu Han frowned, unsure of how to respond. Meng Yuxin's situation was easy to handle, but what about the items that were stolen from Yi Xuecheng? The case had gained more attention online, and it seemed that someone had already begun investigating.

Feeling lost about what to do, Chu Han decided to consult his grandfather to make a decision. After Chu Han left, Meng Yuxin picked up her phone and began to read the report about the theft of Yi Xuecheng's badge.

No wonder Chu Ci had that set of badges; it turns out their origin was not legitimate.

When Lu Xing returned home, he found his brother Lu Zhe sketching a design for an evening gown once again.

"Brother, are you designing clothes for your goddess again?" Lu Xing asked, knowing that his brother had a mysterious figure he admired.

According to Lu Zhe, this person was simply perfect. She could handle gangsters and robbers, play basketball, and excel in design. She was also skilled with computers and was said to be great at gaming. Most importantly, she had a beautiful face and a sweet voice.

It was so perfect that there seemed to be nothing wrong with her.

A year ago, his brother was robbed by bad guys while abroad, and he was almost in serious trouble until he was saved by a goddess. Since that incident, his brother had been completely defeated.

"No." Lu Zhe quickly put away his design draft.

"Brother, if you really like her, you should confess! You are a top international designer, with both fame and fortune. She will like you."

"I'm not worthy of her," Lu Zhe replied with a shy smile.

"Brother, please stop being so self-deprecating. How many girls have had crushes on you since you were little? I collected so many love letters for you that they wouldn't even fit in a whole drawer! What girl wouldn't be worthy of you? Besides, our family is well-known and prestigious in Tonghai City. What girl wouldn't be lucky to have you?"

The parents and grandparents of the Lu brothers were all prominent figures in the art community, and their elders hoped that the brothers would inherit the family business. However, one of the brothers was determined to become an apprentice to Chen Xunshan and pursue a career as a fashion designer. Fortunately, after gaining fame over the past two years, the elders became less opposed to his choice.

"She's...fine," Lu Zhe thought of his crush, a smile unconsciously spreading across his face.

Lu Xing observed his brother's expression and shook his head in exasperation. "It's hopeless, completely hopeless. I hope to meet my sister-in-law soon."
