A fist pounded the door again, Ava turned.
"What do you want?" She asked this time. Rosslyn and Annabelle were done with the makeup.
"Dinner is ready, My Lady" the female voice at the door said.
Her stomach churned at the sound of that, she really needed food.
"Okay" She said and took a glance at the mirror before turning to Rosslyn "I'll take my leave now, thank you for the information"
"Anytime My Lady" The two of them bowed.
Ava stood up hoping she wasn't dressed too over the top. She felt like a bride in all the accessory. Taking a deep nervous sigh, she exited the room.
She was ushered by a guard to the magnificent domain that they called the dinning. The first thing that caught her attention was the sparkly gold chandelier that hovered on the top, and then the black porcelain floors. She was intimidated by everything, the silence of the room, the cautious glares of the guards and then, the other people who entered.
It was the red-headed princess Aurora that first entered, she wore a simple long gown with light makeup and jewelery. Even though she wore simple clothing, she was still looking quite exquisite, Ava was relieved that at least, she had not overdressed.
She watched as Aurora took one of the seats at the right. Ava didn't sit, she was too intimidated to do anything.
"We would take action tomorrow by sunrise, I want it perfect" A stern deep voice ordered and Ava saw the king walk in. and behind him the prince, Neville.
He looked even more breathtaking than in the afternoon in all-black attire. He carried this calm demeanor that made him somewhat mysterious. His black hair was a bit messy and it made him look especially hot. He walked briskly, took a short simple glance at her and then, brushed past.
They all sat. The king in the seat at the forefront, Neville directly at his right hand side and Aurora beside Neville. Ava quickly found a seat at the left and quickly sat.
Then, a strange aura filled the atmosphere as someone else entered, Amelia, the princess she had first met. She had this cold face on and immediately sat beside Ava.
The servants came in rows, bringing plates and trays containing different delicacies. Ava's nose was filled with the mouthwatering aroma of the mélange of dishes. She was so goddamn hungry.
She watched as they all took what they wanted from the trays, quietly without uttering a single word at one another, Ava was sure that they didn't do family dinners like this. Why did they bother to do it today, was it because of her?
Ava took her food and ate the deliciously tasting delicacy slowly because she didn't want them to pull their attention towards her. The food tasted as good as it looked and she enjoyed every bite. Although, the only sound that could be heard in the room was the sound of cutleries against the plates. The situation was quite awkward.
After the meal, they all stood up and left one after the other quietly. When the others had left, Amelia who sat beside her turned to her.
"I know you came from the human world" Amelia started, Ava gulped. "And I don't know why you have been so welcomed by my father, the king. You should know that he doesn't accommodate strange people, he'd rather ask the guards to behead them" she continued, calmly.
"But all I want to say is that I don't like you or your presence here" She stared at Ava "And don't try to make me like you because I won't. Just stay out of my lane"
Ava's face was void of any expression, this was the second time someone told her to stay out of their way. She didn't like the way Amalie spoke to her but she didn't say anything. She just watched as the teenage girl left the table and sashayed out of the dinning room.
The people here had attitude, some kind of bad energy. Something wasn't right in this family.
But Ava didn't think too much about it. For all she knew, this could be some kind of crazy dream and she'll probably wake up the next day on her bed in her peaceful home.
She stood up and looked at the windows, below there was a huge beautiful garden illuminated with lights as the sky was already getting dark. She wanted to see the place and admire it.
Ava moved briskly down the stars, the clothes made it a bit difficult to walk but it was fine. She wanted to see the place before the next day. This was just a crazy dream, she'd probably won't be here by tomorrow.
She had already gotten to the doors before and was about to come out but the guards blocked her path.
"Why can't I go, I just want to see the garden" Ava looked at them, pleadingly
"Guests are not allowed to come out after six o, clock, My Lady" One of them said and pulled out a pocket watch from his shirt. "It's seven thirty"
"O…kay" Ava muttered disappointed. She walked back upstairs, intending to go to her room. She passed by a lounge, and then the hallway of rooms where hers was supposed to be.
All the doors looked alike, she wasn't sure she knew her own room. It wasn't long that she realized she had lost her way. Oh no!
She was tired of wearing the heavy makeup and these big earrings. She wanted to sleep really badly too. Why was she so tired?
"Lady Ava" Someone's voice halted her reverie. Phew! It was Annabelle, one of her personal maids.
"Oh you! Please I need your help"
"Okay, I thought so" she moved closer
"I think I've lost the way to my room" Ava rubbed her forehead
"Oh" Annabelle smiled "It's this way" She pointed to the left "The third room" she said.
"Thanks a lot" Ava heaved a sigh.
"Anytime, My Lady. Please ensure you sleep soon, you have a long day tomorrow. His majesty, Prince Neville has ordered me to wake you very early" she advised
Ava nodded slowly. She walked quickly to the third room at the left and opened it, there was her sweet bedroom. At last!
She took a shower and rubbed off all the makeup, changed to a pink night gown and laid on the bed.
Ava really hoped this place was a dream and nothing else. She wasn't interested in staying in the palace of a ruthless king and learning magic. She wanted to be away from all these arrogant people. She was not used to associating with others because she had never been away from the house. Sir Asher made sure of that.
And if this wasn't a dream, then why did she come here? What would happen to her guardian in the human world? He was going to think she had escaped and went back on her promise. He was going to be so worried and angry.
Who was that boy that pulled her here and why was her head hurting so much by just thinking about it? Why was his face so hard to recall.
She touched the single black dot on her arm, it had been there since she had remembered, did she really belong to the people here?
But the scariest of all the questions still stood. Was she going to stay here, forever?
