"Master!"
"Master!"
"Master!"
Two beams of light streaked across the sky and descended upon the courtyard of Ye Feng's secluded villa.
Mu Lingsha and Lin Dong appeared with radiant expressions, their excitement barely contained.
"Master, I've mastered the Law of Fire!" Lin Dong announced enthusiastically as he approached the courtyard gate. "It's called the Burning Heaven Law. And Lingsha—she's also comprehended the power of wind—"
Before he could finish, faint moans and panting sounds drifted out from inside the villa.
"Mm... ah..."
Lin Dong froze, his expression stiffening. He was no longer a boy but a man with worldly experience. He had a wife—Mu Lingsha, the fiery and forthright girl from Mujiazhuang, whom he'd met years ago while hunting in Qingyang Town.
Back then, it was Ye Feng who had taken a liking to Lingsha and arranged the marriage. Over the course of more than a year, Lin Dong had genuinely fallen for her—their bond forged through days of cultivation, nights of warmth, and countless shared moments. Their love burned bright and untamed.
Mu Lingsha's face turned crimson. As a woman, she instantly understood what was happening inside the house.
"...Master and Sister Qingtan are..." she whispered.
"Ryosha," Lin Dong called quietly.
"Hmm?"
She turned, noticing Lin Dong's awkward but mischievous expression.
"You don't mean..." she blinked, catching on.
"Yeah," Lin Dong nodded, subtly pointing toward the stone table in the yard.
Her eyes widened. "You don't mean... here?!"
"Yep," Lin Dong grinned wickedly.
"It's still broad daylight!" Mu Lingsha protested, flustered.
"It's fine," Lin Dong chuckled. "Just sit on my lap."
"Aren't you worried your master will come out and scold you?" she asked, half warning, half teasing.
"Please," Lin Dong said smugly. "Based on what I heard, Master and Qingtan won't be stepping out for at least an hour."
He gently pulled her toward the stone table.
Mu Lingsha blushed deeper but didn't resist. "You're just as bad as your master, Lin Dong."
She was clearly excited too—this was their own little rebellion. If it were another woman, she might've refused. But Mu Lingsha was not just any woman.

A few months later…
The new year arrived once more in Qingyang City.
Festive lanterns hung across the streets. Firecrackers echoed through alleys. Laughter filled the air.
But on a hill near Linjia Mountain, a more solemn and extraordinary scene unfolded.
The emperor of the Great Yan Dynasty stood with his ministers, solemnly conducting the first heavenly sacrifice of the year. But this was no ordinary offering. The object of reverence wasn't some vague celestial force—it was Ye Feng.
Atop the hill stood a grand statue of Ye Feng, carved with lifelike detail. The emperor knelt before it, chanting a formal invocation. Each word, though whispered, echoed in Ye Feng's divine sense.
It hadn't always been this way.
The emperor had once tried to meet Ye Feng in person—rejected. He then tried to bestow the title of National Teacher—rejected again. With no other recourse, he could only offer reverence from afar, elevating Ye Feng to divine status.
Ye Feng's power was far beyond what any monarch could hope to grasp.
To maintain the stability of his dynasty, the emperor publicly declared Ye Feng as a god. He issued a decree that every Lunar New Year, the people must come to worship Ye Feng's statue. It was a political move—a desperate attempt to keep the Lin family from toppling the Great Yan Dynasty.
Fortunately, the Lin family had a tacit understanding: without Ye Feng's command, they would not interfere with the dynasty.
---
"The emperor of the Great Yan is even licking Ye Feng's boots now!"
"Hah! Even a sovereign can't get an audience with him. I, Zhang Yijian, will never bow to anyone—except Ye Feng."
"It's not just the emperor. I heard even the leaders of the nine great sects in the Eastern Region tried to meet him."
"Some even had breakthroughs just by listening to his Tao lecture!"
"Seriously?"
"Absolutely! And now, we have a chance too. If we pass the assessment and become Ye Feng's disciples, our status will skyrocket!"
---
At the foot of Linjia Mountain, tens of millions of people gathered from across the continent, eagerly awaiting their turn to take part in Ye Feng's disciple recruitment trial.
Inside the serene courtyard, Lin Dong bowed deeply. "Master, the time has come."
"Mm."
"Let's begin then."
"Good."
With that, Lin Dong stepped away. Only Mu Lingsha and Lin Qingtan remained beside Ye Feng, quietly sitting with him under the shade of a blossoming tree.
"Master," Mu Lingsha said suddenly, "I heard something interesting."
"Oh? What is it?"
"Someone outside gave you a nickname."
"A nickname?" Ye Feng raised a brow. "What kind of nickname?"
"They call you… 'Laozi,'" Mu Lingsha replied with a grin.
"Laozi?" Ye Feng blinked, caught off guard.
"Yes," she giggled. "Because of your recent teachings, many cultivators experienced breakthroughs. So they started calling you Laozi in private—out of respect."
Ye Feng's expression shifted subtly. "Laozi… as in the Laozi? The Tao Te Ching?"
Mu Lingsha nodded. "Exactly. The old is respected. The son is the greatest. You are the one who guides the Tao. They stopped calling you 'Chaos Saint' and now revere you as Laozi."
Ye Feng stared off into the distance, stunned.
This wasn't just a nickname.
He'd only quoted the Tao Te Ching during his lecture for amusement. But now people treated it as divine scripture—and called him Laozi.
He exhaled slowly.
Laozi… Laozi… Laozi…
That title belonged to a sage from the ancient China. And the Tao Te Ching was his creation.
Was this all just a coincidence?
He remembered the heavenly palace he built across the planes—modeled after the celestial court from ancient China.
He thought of Xiao Yixian's disciple named Chang Xi. Queen Medusa had named her future children Di Jun and Nüwa.
Ya Fei had even taken on a disciple named Zhu Rong.
Chang Xi was Di Jun's wife.
Di Jun was the ruler of Heaven before the Jade Emperor.
Nüwa created mankind.
Zhu Rong was the fire god.
All were gods from the mythos of the China.
And now, because of a single lecture on the Tao Te Ching, people were calling him Laozi?
Ye Feng narrowed his eyes.
"Is this really just coincidence?" he murmured.
But no—something didn't fit.
China's myth was said to have only three realms in ancient times. But if he were truly in the past, how could he explain the existence of the Great Lord Plane, the Yuan Realm, the Douluo God Realm, or the 108 worlds beneath it?
There were too many contradictions.
"Mr. Ye?" Lin Qingtan called softly, gently grasping his hand. "Are you alright?"
Ye Feng looked at her and smiled faintly. "I'm fine."
He couldn't make sense of it all, and perhaps he didn't need to.
As long as he could feel the warmth of Qingtan's hand in his own… then this world was real enough.
