The first thing he realized was that this person was almost certainly the second Primus Imperium. The problem with that was that Sylas recognized this person. He was under his charge, a supposed member of the Milky Way Horizon.
This person had already lost to him. How could he be a Primus Imperium after giving up?
One might say that this was because he was completely confident in Sylas' loss should he accept the challenge, but it had to be remembered how vindictive the system was.
Not only did it not allow you to intentionally avoid a challenge, it also didn't allow you to escape one right in front of you even if your intention wasn't to avoid.
This meant one of two things, both of which led to the same exact deduction.
Madness Disciple.
Sylas looked down at his Madness Key. It was supposed to tell him when a Madness Disciple was close by—that was the very first thing he had learned about it. So why hadn't it alerted him this time?
