Gralith looked toward the flickering images projected from the Disputed Rite.
The Disputed Rite was really just an elaborate obstacle course. The role of the in-name disciple was to make it from the bell tower that Sylas was currently waiting in, to the other side of the "map".
This location was on the main Sanctum planet, a continent cornered off for exactly this purpose—that being to challenge worthy disciples in all sorts of ways. Depending on the Runes that were active, there were many other challenges that could be triggered.
Technically speaking, if Sylas was fast enough, and stealthy enough, he could make it from one side of the map to the other without facing off against a single battle.
The issue, of course, was that there were very specified "Lanes". These Lanes were the only paths that could be followed without triggering death traps or mobilizing slumbering beasts.
