The driver said, "People here in Dali live very comfortably and leisurely, without blatant safety issues, but since you're from out of town, it's still best to be cautious, a girl really shouldn't come to such a secluded ancient town alone."
"Uncle, thank you," Youbei sincerely thanked the man. It touched her that a complete stranger could show such concern for her.
She added, "Uncle, don't leave right away when we get to the hotel, okay? I'd like to treat you to a meal, what do you say?"
The driver was momentarily startled, seemingly caught off guard.
Youbei wondered if she had been too abrupt, making it seem as if she had an ulterior motive.
In a rush, she waved her hands, "Uncle, I didn't mean anything by it, I just thought once we get to the hotel, and since it's mealtime, I'd have to eat anyway, and I didn't want to eat alone, so I invited you along. If it's not convenient for you, then never mind."
