Gen's POV
I remembered now…about this guy…his name was Tashio Hironaka, one of my former soldiers in my organization. I still remembered how I betrayed him by making one of the subjects for my zombie virus and throwing him out to infect others. I regretted it now, and he deserved to be angry at me. I really deserved his wrath…
But, just as I finished thinking these thoughts, Tashio glared at me and aimed his assault rifle at me. "I will make you pay for this…" Though I had used Reina-kun's serum for survival, I was a little bit scared of what would happen next. Some in my group defended me, but then, just as Tashio pulled the trigger, someone pushed me out of the way and took the shots himself.
"Ah!" he shouted in pain as blood was everywhere.
It was Reina!
We were all shocked to see him taking the gunshots for me. "Reina!" Mara and Martha responded while coming out of their hiding place to help out. Tashio himself was shocked by what he had accidentally done to Reina. Ichiro and Nato pointed their weapons at Tashio to make sure that he won't hurt me or anyone else here.
"Reina-kun!" I ran to Reina's aid.
Reina was hurt, but he got up with some difficulty in standing up.
His torso was full of blood, and even his bulletproof vest was riddled with holes from the gunshots.
Nato and Ichiro performed some first aid to prevent more blood from bleeding out more.
Then, I glanced at a child who was with Tashio. He was horrified and felt sorry for us and Reina. Tashio was just standing there like a statue, perhaps realizing what he had done to Reina. And then, the child said to him, "Dad! Please stop this bloody bullshit! Now look at what you did!"
That child was his son…?
So, I asked that question to the child, which he replied, "Yes, I'm Toshiba Kashi. I'm his son, and I am deeply sorry for what he did to your friend…" He then bowed his head at me and others in deep apology and shame.
"I-It's okay, Mr. Kashi," I frantically replied back. "It's fine. Reina-kun would be okay later."
Kashi was stunned at the last part of my statement, but when he looked over at Reina, he knew that I was right.
Third person POV
"Are you okay, man?" Ichiro said to Reina.
"Yes, I'm fine, guys," Reina replied while his wounds was being treated on the spot.
He then looked at Gen, Kashi, and Tashio and said to Gen directly, "Hey, Gen-san, are you okay there?"
Gen and the other two heard that and looked at him.
Kashi then apologized to Reina for his father's accidental actions at him.
"Woah, that guy is your father?" Reina asked back.
Kashi then nodded, and Tashio came forward and confirmed it, before apologizing to him for his accidental actions at him, yet his hatred and grudge remained unsolved.
"It's fine, sir," Reina reassured in response. "Please don't do that again."
Taisho then got it, but his hatred at Gen still remain.
And then, all of them eventually went back to Gen's headquarters to rest up and recover. Tashio and Kashi joined in, but Tashio remained hateful at Gen for what he had done to him in the past. All of the betrayal to Tashio by Gen had filled Tashio's heart with hatred like soil to a hole on the earth. He, Reina, and Kashi are at the courtyard of the headquarters.
"I'll kill that guy," Tashio said to Reina.
Reina was shocked, knowing that Tashio would do the same thing he did to Gen. "Wait, what?"
"Yes, I'll kill him for ruining my life," Taisho replied back while reloading his assault rifle.
"No, don't do it!"
"Why not?"
"Don't do the same thing I did back then. Don't tread down the same path as I did. Promise me, you'll regret it later."
Kashi overheard their conversation. "Dad, please listen to Reina-senpai.
He had said that because Reina was older than him and was a sophomore in university before the zombie outbreak.
"What do you mean by that?" Tashio was upset at Reina. "Stay out of this!"
But, Reina stood up and shouted back, "Then I won't let you do that! I'll defend him whether you like it or not, amigo!"
"You're defending that psycho?" Tashio was pissed by his words and response.
"He had reflected on his past actions and even let me to kill him once out of guilt, especially after what he had done to my parents!"
