Silence pressed at the edges of the room until Nurse Shen spoke. "Miss Li, your vital signs are close to baseline. It is good that you feel well and have no discomfort. I will return later to check again. If you need anything, press the call bell."
Li Mei hesitated. "Can I walk to the bathroom?" Her cheeks colored.
"Yes," Nurse Shen said. "I will walk with you for that. Do not walk around alone for now."
Li Mei nodded, her relief clear.
"If that is all, I will take my leave," Nurse Shen said and stepped out.
As the door closed, Wang Haoran stood. He squeezed Li Mei's shoulder. "I will be next door."
This Li Mei was not the frightened woman from yesterday who clung to him for comfort. She lifted her hand and waved. "See you later."
Wang Haoran's smile was unguarded. He kissed her brow, then glanced at Aunt Hi and Le Hua. They both nodded. He nodded back and left.
Outside, Nurse Shen waited. "Sir, Doctor Park is ready for you."
