The young girl burst into hearty laughter, leaving the gatekeeper boy embarrassed and flustered as he got up awkwardly to join her laughter.
"Miss, who are you looking for?"
The girl laughed until she could laugh no more, clutching her stomach to stop, and said, "Didn't I already tell you who I'm looking for? Why are you asking me again?"
"Huh? You said?" The gatekeeper boy looked shocked.
The girl laughed again and said, "Oh, you must have fallen asleep earlier, huh? You're supposed to be guarding the gate, but you're snoozing instead? I'm going to report you."
With that, she pushed past the gatekeeper boy and swaggered boldly into the inn.
"Hey, hey, who are you? You can't go in there!"
The boy, realizing he had been played, snapped back to attention and hurried to block her path.
The girl planted her hands on her hips and said, "You dare to stop me? I came here with an imperial decree. And you, a gatekeeper who's been dozing off, dare to stop me?"
