On the day of the Lantern Festival, the town was indeed bustling with activity. Before nightfall, Su Yunjin and Gu Ya went together to the town. Su Yunjin arrived by carriage, sitting inside with Gu Ya. In the past, it had always been Gu Ya driving the carriage, but earlier this year, Gu Ya had hired a coachman, so the task of driving now fell to him.
Hearing the lively noise outside, Su Yunjin lifted the curtain to take a look. She saw that the streets were far more crowded than usual: merchants selling goods, pedestrians strolling about, and most strikingly, flower lanterns everywhere. It was Su Yunjin's first time seeing so many lanterns; as far as the eye could see, the entire street was glowing with lantern light. Some vendors were still busily weaving bamboo frames for the lanterns, worried they might run out of stock tonight.
Watching the festive scene outside, Su Yunjin's excitement bubbled over. She impatiently wanted to get out and explore, but Gu Ya held her back.
