"I know, the biggest regret of my father's life is that I'm a girl." Mo Bei laughed self-deprecatingly, "I want to show him that marriage isn't the only path for women to take. If I want, I can stand strong just like he does."
Mo Wen raised an eyebrow, "Are you blaming our godfather for giving something that should have been yours to me?"
"What nonsense!" Mo Bei rolled her eyes at him with a smile. After a moment, her expression calmed, "I just want to be able to help him like you do."
"If you're worried about the marriage, there's no need." Mo Wen said.
"What do you mean?" Mo Bei asked in confusion.
"The person who was supposed to marry you is already dead, so..." Mo Wen shrugged, "You don't have to worry about him forcing you back anymore."
"Dead?!" Mo Bei looked shocked and turned towards Mo Wen with scrutinizing eyes, "Brother... it wasn't you, was it?"
