Chapter 389: Tang San's Opportunity
Deep in the Far North.
This was the coldest place on the entire Douluo Continent.
If Tang San hadn't already reached the Soul Sage realm—and if not for the anger and hatred burning in his heart pushing him forward—even with luck avoiding soul beasts along the way, he still wouldn't have made it this far.
Though the Far North and Star Dou Great Forest were both considered forbidden zones for humans, for soul masters, the Far North was far more dangerous.
First off, the environment itself made that clear. Anyone who came here to obtain a soul ring would obviously be aligned with water or ice elements.
And since very few soul masters ventured here, the number of ice-attribute soul beasts was proportionately higher. Soul masters were already rare—let alone those with matching attributes.
Second, due to the extreme weather, weaker soul masters didn't even stand a chance. The heavy snowfall and brutal cold alone were unbearable, even before meeting a single soul beast.
So it was no exaggeration to say: unless beasts like Di Tian or Xue Di showed up, the Far North was still far more perilous than the Star Dou Great Forest.
Because in the forest, if you got lucky, you might still escape. But in the Far North? That simply wasn't possible.
That's why the soul master world had a well-known saying: "Better to brave the Star Dou, never face the Far North."
"Senior, where exactly are you?"
Tang San pressed forward through the blizzard, suppressing his injuries and murderous aura as he called out, "How much farther before I see you?"
Whether due to some stroke of fortune or the fact that soul beasts were all hibernating for winter, Tang San hadn't encountered any danger along the way.
"Almost there. Just a bit longer." The cold voice rang out again. If one listened closely, they could detect a hint of excitement and anticipation in it.
Hearing this, Tang San exhaled deeply. He circulated Xuan Tian Gong to stabilize his body temperature, then quickened his pace.
Time passed slowly. Eventually, under the guidance of the mysterious voice, Tang San finally arrived at his destination.
Ahead of him, wisps of black mist began to gather on the ground, swirling and condensing until they formed a passageway.
"Jump in," the voice ordered.
Tang San narrowed his eyes. After a brief pause, he didn't hesitate and leapt in.
His twin martial spirits were already crippled. His father, a titled Douluo, was missing—possibly dead. As for the Clear Sky Clan and the four single-attribute sects?
They hated him with a vengeance.
So if he wanted to change his fate, if he wanted power to take revenge—he had no choice but to take this gamble and place everything on the opportunity that lay ahead.
He had already endured so much. There was no way he would die here.
The moon was dim, and crows flew south beneath the starry sky.
On the rooftop of a building in the Worship Hall—
Kong and Qian Renxue had just finished dinner. Now they sat together quietly, gazing up at the beautiful night sky.
"Xue'er, you'll become the supreme Angel God tomorrow. How does it feel?"
Kong leaned on his hand, smiling at the girl beside him.
"Of course I'm happy."
Qian Renxue gave a sweet smile, speaking openly from her heart. "The Angel God's position… Ever since the previous Angel ascended to the Divine Realm, no one has completed the Nine Angel Trials in the past twenty thousand years. But now, I've not only passed them, with your and Grandpa's help—I'm about to inherit the Angel God's divinity."
Kong understood this very well, so he simply nodded with a smile.
After all, Qian Renxue's situation was far from ordinary.
Though the Sea God and Angel God were both first-tier deities from the same era, the number of people who offered them devotion was worlds apart.
The Sea God's divinity could be inherited by anyone—as long as they had enough talent and gained the Sea God's Heart's approval, even an ordinary person could succeed.
But the Angel God's position was different. Besides immense talent, it required one crucial thing: the Six-Winged Angel Martial Spirit. That meant only the descendants of the Angel God could possibly inherit it.
So for people like Qian Renxue, inheriting the Angel God's divinity was a matter of family legacy—a long-cherished hope carried by generations of High Priests and Popes.
Now that Qian Renxue had passed the Nine Angel Trials and was about to complete the inheritance, her name alone would earn a special place in the family records—etched as the one who tasted the first fruits.
"So, how are you planning to thank me?" Kong asked with a smile, gazing at the radiant girl before him.
"How do you want me to thank you?" Qian Renxue blinked in surprise, then her smile grew even brighter.
"What do you think?"
Kong stood up and scooped her into his arms, carrying her back into the room.
As their clothes slipped away, passionate sounds filled the space—ones that would make anyone blush.
While Kong and Qian Renxue were discussing life, deep beneath the Far North—
Tang San stared wide-eyed at the scene before him.
What the hell was this?
Before him churned an incredibly dense mass of black mist. The sinister and twisted aura radiating from it was so overwhelming that even Tang San—a fallen cultivator himself—felt chilled to the bone.
"Senior, were you the one who summoned me?"
After a brief moment of shock, Tang San composed himself and asked tentatively into the void.
Because if this thing really was what summoned him—then perhaps he still had a shot at revenge.
"Yes," came the reply.
The black mist didn't hide it. A cold voice echoed through the space: "Judging by your current condition, it seems you've faced quite a bit of trouble out there. Otherwise, you wouldn't have ended up like this."
At these words, Tang San's face darkened with murderous intent. His fists clenched tightly.
If not for Kong, he never would've been forced to prematurely cultivate his second martial spirit. His father wouldn't have fallen. He wouldn't have been humiliated by Spirit Hall.
Everything—everything—stemmed from that one man.
The thought twisted his heart even further, dragging all his hidden darkness to the surface and amplifying it.
"Senior, since you called me here, I assume you intend to help me."
As much as he hated Kong, Tang San knew that with his current strength, he had no chance of winning. So all his hopes now rested on this entity before him.
"Of course. Why else would I summon you here?" the voice answered coldly.
As it examined the deep shadows in Tang San's heart, the black mist pulsed with satisfaction.
Whatever this boy had gone through… it must've been plenty. And the more twisted he became, the more delighted it felt.
