Chapter 504 - Chapter 504 - Ocean Treats

The first day passed without any incident.

So did the second.

To have been honest, it was boring.

The wind was steady and the sea calm. The ship moved forward without any struggle.

The elements have decided not to interfere with this ship, which was clearly a good sign of a swift voyage.

And Sonder kept to herself.

With five shards with her and so many people on board, it would have been better to keep socializing at a minimum.

She wished she had something to read, but alas, she didn't have the time to gather books during her journey.

Instead, she played with mana. Like she had done before, she created something like a rubber band between her fingers and stretched it.

It was hard to keep in the now with two weeks of nothing to do. She didn't want to phase out and let the time pass without her knowing.

She lowered her hands and let the mana dissolve, and she sighed.

What did people usually do on ships? Except for sailing on them.

If she wasn't going to talk to any of the other passengers, then what?

Fish maybe. She had seen a few sailors get their fishing rods ready and catch a few fish.

Some were big and some small. Some sailors let them free after catching them, and others put them in buckets until they were full.

Sonder assumed that the ship had enough supplies to feed everyone on board, but sailors had to entertain themselves also when not working.

She would not fish, simple as that. She didn't need to eat it, and seeing that she didn't, fishing would be a cruel sport.

She wouldn't like getting hooked just to be born out again into the sea if she were a fish.

After all of this was over, not just the sea voyage, but her whole journey to get the shards, Sonder needed to take a serious look at her dietary habits.

But she had already given some thoughts on the subject.

The best would simply be eating things that didn't need harm to befall any other creature, animal, or plant.

Like honey or already naturally fallen fruit from trees.

But as it was right now, she wouldn't be able to refuse to eat something... 'edible' if she didn't have the luxury of more ethical consumption.

And she also had to feed Sireacht. Actual, natural food, for what would, sooner rather than later, become a dragon.

There were things to keep in mind. If she could, Sonder would also have Sireacht eat as she did, without harming another living creature, but if it was unnatural for featherlings to eat like that, it would also have been cruel to sort of 'starve' Sireacht from her more natural food. There was a natural order of things, and she didn't think it was her place to upset it, not too much at least.

Sonder remembered that there was one book on the feeding habits of dragons in the Magnus Halls, but she didn't read it.

She wished she had, but she didn't.

She remembers glancing at it, but as, back then, she had little interest in dragons, and especially what food they ate, she didn't give it a second look.

It would have been useful now.
