Chapter 148 - Spaceship

This was why the Infinity Chamber worked the way it did.

Tony had taken the concept further than simple shrinking. He'd built an entire facility. A complete laboratory complex with every tool he needed. Testing chambers. Fabrication systems. Medical bays. Living quarters.

Then he'd anchored that facility to a Stark Particle field generator small enough to attach to his own body.

The generator was microscopic. Smaller than a cell. Integrated into his skin through nanotechnology during one of his early evolution experiments. It sat there permanently. Humming at frequencies too low to detect. Maintaining the quantum field that kept the chamber existing in its adjacent probability state.

The Infinity Chamber was always with him. Always attached to him at the quantum level. Always accessible through the quantum link he'd built into his own nervous system.

And because it existed in a quantum state rather than normal space, the laws governing it were different. Time dilation was the most significant difference.

The quantum realm operated on different temporal mechanics than the standard universe. Time moved faster there relative to external observation. Much faster. Tony had calibrated his chamber's quantum state to maximize this effect.

The result was one hundred times dilation. One hour outside equaled one hundred hours inside. Three external days had just given him three hundred internal days.

Nearly a full year to work. To train. To build.

All while the world outside moved at its normal pace.

'The most valuable technology I've ever created,' Tony thought, looking at the quantum field display. 'Not a weapon. Not armor. Just time. The ability to have more time than anyone else.'

He turned away from the viewport. Walked toward the fabrication section. Toward the last project he'd saved deliberately for the end.

A spaceship.

Not just any spacecraft. Something built for the mission he could already feel taking shape. The missing Avengers. The distress signal Fury had mentioned before Tony entered the chamber. The reality that whatever Thanos had done to Thor and the others wasn't going to fix itself.

Earth wasn't going to him. He was going to Earth.

Tony needed to be ready to go to space.

M.A.R.V.E.L. brought up the design files. Work that Tony had spread across multiple duplicate sessions over the past sixty days. Thirty-six parallel thought processes dedicated to spacecraft design while other versions of him focused on training.

The ship rotated slowly on the holographic display. Tony studied it with fresh eyes.

Sleek. Compact. Built for speed and versatility rather than passenger capacity. Roughly the size of a large transport jet on the outside but with completely different internal architecture. No wasted space. No decorative elements.

"Walk me through the power system." Tony said.

M.A.R.V.E.L. pulled up the engine and reactor schematics. "Starktonium reactor core. Third generation design based on the original Arc Reactor concept but fundamentally redesigned from first principles."

Tony nodded. The Arc Reactor had been his father Howard's incomplete project. Tony had finished it years ago. Used it to power the Iron Man suits. Used it to keep himself alive when shrapnel threatened his heart.

That was all gone now. His first evolution had healed everything. Removed the reactor from his chest. Restored his body completely. But the technology had continued developing.

"The reactor generates power through controlled Starktonium decay." M.A.R.V.E.L. continued. "Unlike the original Arc Reactor design which used palladium as a medium, this core uses refined Starktonium directly. The energy output is several orders of magnitude higher. Enough to power every ship system simultaneously at full capacity with significant reserves remaining."

"And it runs independently." Tony said. This was the important part. "Without me."

"Completely independently. The reactor is self-sustaining once initialized. It doesn't require your biology or your personal energy generation to function. Any qualified pilot can operate the ship." M.A.R.V.E.L. pulled up the cockpit interface. "The controls are designed for human operation. Intuitive. Manageable for anyone with flight experience. Steve Rogers could fly this if necessary."

Tony almost smiled at that image. "What about the fold-space drive?"

"Fully automated navigation available. The pilot inputs a destination. The drive calculates the quantum fold trajectory and executes. No specialist knowledge required." M.A.R.V.E.L. paused. "Though manual override is available for more precise navigation in complex spatial environments."
