Chapter 32 - HT:Skellys

Nakamura and Alexander took to the sides of the formatin as Kalani led them through the area at an insane speed.

Her clans ability, Stride, which allowed her freedom of movement were her feet touched, made traversing the area a breeze for her and a nightmare for Alexander.

Alexander's breathing practice kept his lungs from collapsing while he kept up with them as best he could. Their every step

With both Nakamura and Kalani having done a full scouts report of their own, now doing more, they were still ready at a moments notice to help him out. Something Alexander would have admitted about both of them.

The report Nakamura and Kalani gave to Max they shared with Alexander while on the move. He attempted to understand everything

The left most and middle area where filled with graveyards and cemeteries with no bodies buried there.

This sent a chill through Alexanders right hand holding the Ring of the Firstborne. Death was a sacred thing to the people, none would disturb a grave. The way Nakamura worded it hundreds of dead were disturbed.

'If anyone found out about a human doing necromancer s**t, a very unpopular magic I have found out, I would be beyond locked up. Not illegal but thats just because no one's ever actually done it before. I will not be sent to the Super Max Prison Hades.'

Hades is the United Federal Government's (UFG for short) prison/testing facility for Hunters and rouge Lost. Founded specifically to hold high powered individuals and dangers to the world.

Lost or Lost ones were a dipiction of a species of Humanoids that left around the same time humans started warring with the other Saipians. It wasn't until the Gate incidents started sprouting up did they make official contact with the outside world.

'So until this Guardian thing gets more realistic I should keep that fact under wraps. I can feel the nanites restoring order again more efficiently. With there help its getting easier to limber up, my control over them still feels like swimming through water but I got the idea.'

The feeling Alexander had was like swimming but not in water. The sea was in fact a will of millions of minds, a sea of thought that Lunaris steered for him. Now with Lunaris gone and the sea was churning and rolling, he needed a heading fast.

His wounds became a single point the nanites could solve with a little push. After the healing is done a million minds will be wondering what's the next task. Alexander could feel even now the Swarm getting louder like the scream of a crowd of fans.

With little time he understood what was needed. He had helped the nanny the estate over the orphanage had sent over, changing diapers and feedings were natural to him. 'What's a few million more attention starved children. With a little give and take, we can get along like best buds.'

Alexander willed the nanites in his legs and feet to help him out, a simple command by human standards, for the nanites it was a confusing order. The nanites strengthened his tendons to spring forward, technically making his top speed increase dramatically.

However when the nanites started hurting him by breaking his bones to make his feet more accustomed to running he began to use more thought into his mental commands.

His mind drifted to the way Nakamura ran. Every step the Japanese borne Hunter-to-be made was like a sword stroke, deliberate and swift. His footstep techniques were legendary in training. When asked to teach by Alexander but he said he could never teach Alexander for simple reason he was to old and his bones to stiff.

Alexander imagined his steps, visualizing his muscles flex, sending his thoughts to the nanites. The speed and fluidity was hard to execute but they had a reference to associate the movement.

From his hips to his toes a sudden pain struck him, his body changing slightly as the nanites shifted his weight and bone structure for Nakamura's run.

The awkward jog to keep up turned into a smooth yet unrefined stride. His legs moved freely and the wind started to run past his face more freely next to his friends.

Nakamura recognized the attempt and nodded slightly. Admiring the attempt to copy his family's physical skill.

"Lean into the right step, it will make it easier for your size," Nakamura smirked slightly.

"Like this? Oh I see, and then if I do this I can.. Amazing. I see how you dodged my strikes now," Alexander said. Nakamura said nothing and continued on.

The trio made good pace, as they swiftly traveled between trees and bushes, coming to an end infront of a large court yard.

Alexander commanded his legs to relax and dull the pain in his legs as the healing began. He felt fine but he needed his thoughts elsewhere.

He commanded the nanites around his eyes to allow him to focus and see clearer. The nanites responded and at first the screen Lunaris made to help him keep track of his strength showed up over and over.

"My stats have really gone up after putting the Darknight armor on, but Ill check it after I finish the Trial. Lets see what we're getting into to."

Alexander used his mana to guide what he wanted, filling in where the nanites couldn't figure out. Mana was a good way to see further, but it also have your position away if someone is also using the mana sense. Most high ranked Hunters always have ther Mana sense active for ambushes or searching for unloged Gates.

Thre sight was a little blurry but the sight still made Alexanders jaw drop.

A large open courtyard lay ruined infront of the trios hidding place. All through the broken Roman styled coloums that lay cracked and crumbling with split slabs of marbel rambled a terrifying scene. Hundreds of skeletal monsters guarded the entrance to the castle and filled the courtyard.

"Well, I found the bodies."

...

After the rest of the team and the Proctors arrived into a position near the courtyard, Alexander relayed what he saw.

"Intresting.. a large blockage to stop us from getting somewhere,"Max thought. "We could bombard then but I've observed a spectacular thing. When one of the stone pillars crushed a creature, it completely reconstructed itself. So you know what that means..."

".."

"It means they are tied to a Magical Item. Has no one read my daily briefs. I send them once a week. Regardless, we can't defeat them permanently until we destroy whatever is controlling them. Simple right. Wrong, Kia. Usually these things are powerful monsters like necromancers or similar."

"If thats true, a necromancer being on the upper D ranked ladder, wouldn't that mean its assault time?"

A look of horror spread on Max's face as realization dawned on him. During strategic moments in Gates, Max would be team leader and his word was law. This worked for almost every gate. However when all scouting was done, assault mode was activated and Kahawai would assume the Team leader position.

Kahawai stood infront of everyone and everyone prepared for the speech that he loved to do. The faces of the team where exasperated and sullen as the listened. While Max stuck to his computer screens that floated around him.

"As you all know we have a time limit on this mission. So let's keep our eyes open keep each other safe. We are a team, forged through adversity and training. Our mission is finding this Magical Item and destroy it. Gear up and let's move out T-minus thirty seconds."

With the time he had, Alexander retrieved a bow and sword from Max's armory. Having given the other back in the beginning of the scouting mission, he really missed it fighting the spider woman.

The team gathered into a particular formation that Max hated.

"Who came up with this for.ation and why am I always in the middle!" Max complained...
