While the people near Slateport City were beginning post-disaster cleanup and recovery, far away on the remote Island of the Forces of Nature, a mysterious being stirred from its slumber.
It had sensed, through a mental link, that something had happened to its two brothers—who were now sending out psychic calls for help.
Indeed, the one awakening was none other than Landorus. Unlike the hot-tempered Tornadus and Thundurus, Landorus had a calm and kind nature. Whenever those two fought, it was always Landorus who stepped in to mediate. Among the trio, he was also the strongest.
In its Incarnate Forme, Landorus appeared as a muscular, orange-skinned Pokémon with three pink, horn-like spikes on its forehead forming a curved arc. A white, log-like structure extended from the back of its head, and it had jagged white facial hair, with two sharp orange ears flanking its head.
Its eyes were yellow with small, round white pupils—the right eye slightly smaller than the left. Its upper body was orange-yellow with dark pink markings shaped like diamonds, pebbles, and raindrops. Its chest was pink, and its shoulders, elbows, and navel bore raindrop-shaped patterns.
Landorus had strong, muscular arms with five-fingered hands. Its entire lower body was encased in white cloud-like formations, from which emerged a thick, curled, branch-like brown tail studded with blunt, dark pink protrusions.
In its Therian Forme, Landorus resembled a tiger. Its head remained mostly the same, but the size difference between its eyes was more noticeable. The clouds moved to its four legs, its mustache changed slightly and covered its mouth, and the horns atop its head became longer. A beige gemstone appeared in the center of its navel.
Landorus could absorb wind and lightning energy and convert it into nutrients for the soil, making the land fertile. The energy flowing from its tail revitalized the earth, enabling crops to flourish.
Wherever Landorus traveled, bountiful harvests followed—earning it the title of "Guardian of the Fields." In its Incarnate Forme, Landorus always appeared to quell the battles between its tempestuous brothers.
After storms and lightning passed, the land would be blessed with abundance. When flying through the skies in its Therian Forme, Landorus was revered in Hisui as a god of harvest—said to traverse the region in the blink of an eye.
The Reveal Glass that Tornadus and Thundurus had fought over originally belonged to Landorus. But not long ago, Tornadus had awakened early, stolen the Reveal Glass, and fled to the sea.
Thundurus, stirred by his rival's awakening, followed soon after. Craving the Reveal Glass's power, he didn't bother waking Landorus—instead, he chased Tornadus down on his own, hoping to claim the artifact and grow even stronger.
That chain of events was what led to the storm that struck Slateport City and Fallarbor Town. In a sense, the people affected were just collateral damage in Tornadus and Thundurus's reckless struggle.
Normally, such a battle would have awakened Landorus, but Tornadus had anticipated this and created a barrier around the cave where Landorus slept, blocking out all external perception.
Only when Tornadus was defeated by Mega Diancie and fell unconscious did the barrier lose power and fade, finally allowing Landorus to sense something was wrong and awaken.
Upon waking, Landorus immediately discovered that the Reveal Glass was missing. Given how carefully it was hidden, the only ones who could've taken it without alerting him were his two unruly brothers.
The three of them shared a telepathic connection, so Landorus wasn't worried about locating them. He had already sensed that both were in poor condition.
The Forces of Nature trio could be seen as avatars of the natural world. Tornadus and Thundurus represented the wrath of nature, while Landorus absorbed the energy they released and used it to nourish the land.
That's why Tornadus and Thundurus weren't considered evil, despite their destructive tendencies. People may resent their wildness, but they rejoiced in the abundant harvests Landorus brought.
Sensing their position far from the island, Landorus took flight at tremendous speed, heading straight for Slateport.
At that time, Rex had no idea Landorus was en route to Rex Farm. He was busy directing his Pokémon in clearing debris left behind by the storm.
Not just his farm—many nearby farms and breeding centers had taken heavy damage. Uncle Henry had been swamped with work, traveling nonstop to help repair buildings. Rex had given up on inviting him over for now.
What gave Rex an advantage was the number of Pokémon he had at his disposal. With help from the Swellow flock and the Politoed clan, cleanup went quickly.
The real issue was the rare berry trees. Many of them had yellowing leaves after being soaked in floodwater. These delicate trees didn't handle stress well—without some kind of miracle, they would soon wither and die.
Though Rex could use his life energy to heal them, his ability was limited to three uses a day. He had already used it all on Swellow and the others.
They had accumulated internal injuries during the battle with Tornadus, and Rex's healing allowed them to recover and grow stronger.
As for Shaymin, its origin energy had been completely drained and it still needed time to rest. It couldn't help much for now.
The one most heartbroken by the dying trees wasn't Rex—it was Politoed. It had nurtured those trees since they were seedlings, watching them grow and bear rare, fragrant berries.
After tasting the joy of a rich harvest, the Politoed clan had come to see the rare orchard as key to their survival and prosperity. Now, all their hard work might be undone by this single disaster.
Seeing Politoed so dejected, Rex didn't know how to console it. All he could do was promise to plant new rare berry trees and care for them until they grew strong enough to bear fruit once more.
The promise lifted Politoed's spirits a little, but Rex could still sense its sadness.
The Swellow flock's forest had suffered losses too, but since the area was vast, the damage was manageable. The Swellow took it in stride.
Just then, Diancie and Shaymin suddenly looked up in the same direction, their expressions turning serious.
This immediately put Rex on alert. The last time they had reacted like this was during the battle with Tornadus and Thundurus.
Sensing Rex's confusion, Shaymin used telepathy to explain: a powerful presence was flying toward them fast.
