Chapter 409 - Chapter 409: Mediation and Battle

"Tornadus, Thundurus, do you realize the enormous disaster your battle has caused in the outside world? I'm begging you—please stop fighting and disperse this storm!"

Rex called out earnestly to the distant Tornadus and Thundurus.

Unfortunately, Tornadus in its Therian Forme and Thundurus in its Incarnate Forme showed no reaction to his plea.

The only ones they were wary of were Diancie and Shaymin—Rex, a mere human, was completely ignored.

After days of constant fighting, both Tornadus and Thundurus had sustained heavy injuries and consumed much of their origin energy. That was the only reason they were on guard against Shaymin and Diancie now.

Even with Shaymin in its Sky Forme, it wasn't a combat-oriented mythical Pokémon, and Diancie, having only recently evolved, was still akin to a juvenile in their eyes, with little origin energy accumulated.

Had they been at full power, Tornadus and Thundurus wouldn't have worried about facing Shaymin and Diancie one-on-one. Even if they couldn't win outright, they were confident they wouldn't lose.

But in their current weakened states—still wary of each other and unable to fight with full strength—they couldn't afford to ignore the threat.

"I don't know why you're fighting, but could you at least scatter the outer storm or move your battle away from this region?"

Rex urged again, knowing time was running out.

Tornadus and Thundurus ignored him and began communicating with each other. Though they often clashed due to their tempers, they were still partners who understood each other well.

They quickly decided to first deal with the intruders—Rex and his Pokémon—before continuing their own fight for the Reveal Glass.

Seeing the two legendary Pokémon reach a mutual understanding and turn their attacks toward him, Rex realized that persuasion was no longer an option.

"Diancie, use Diamond Storm on Tornadus!"

"Shaymin, block their attacks with Energy Ball!"

Rex issued his commands without hesitation.

Since it had come to force, Rex wasn't going to hold back—he was determined to teach these two reckless beings a lesson.

"Swellow, use Hyper Beam to harass Thundurus!"

To avoid hindering Swellow's movement, Rex had Gyarados carry him instead. He also released Machamp to help defend against any incoming attacks.

Soon, Rex's three Pokémon were locked in fierce battle with Tornadus and Thundurus. Energy of all types collided, turning the once calm storm interior into utter chaos.

Fortunately, since the energy clashes weren't between the two weather-shaping mythical Pokémon themselves, the storm wasn't absorbing more origin energy and didn't grow any stronger.

Rex watched the battle closely. The moment one of his Pokémon was in danger, he issued commands and coordinated team defense—that was his duty as a trainer.

As the battle wore on, Tornadus and Thundurus' condition worsened. They had already burned through much of their origin power earlier.

The tide was shifting in Rex's favor. If he kept up the pressure, they would eventually collapse from accumulated injuries.

Realizing they couldn't keep going like this, Thundurus grit its teeth, flew to Tornadus' side, and transformed into a beam of light that merged into Tornadus' body.

With Thundurus' origin energy reinforcing it, Tornadus rapidly healed and its aura surged.

By temporarily merging with Tornadus, Thundurus dramatically boosted its partner's origin power—this also allowed Tornadus to better control the Reveal Glass within its body.

"I knew it wouldn't be that easy."

Rex muttered with a bitter smile as he witnessed the change.

Now rejuvenated, Tornadus unleashed powerful Hurricane attacks on Diancie and the others.

Empowered by origin energy, the Hurricanes grew so strong that even Diancie, Shaymin, and Swellow struggled to defend against them.

At this point, Swellow's Totem aura had already been shattered. It cloaked itself in powerful Flying-type energy and charged at Tornadus with Brave Bird.

Tornadus had no intention of dodging. Instead, it enveloped itself in a storm and launched forward to meet Swellow head-on.

Boom!

The massive collision sent shockwaves through the air. When the energy finally dispersed, Rex saw Swellow falling straight toward the ocean, while Tornadus, though bruised, remained in the sky.

Rex knew Swellow had done its best. Though now a Totem Pokémon, it still fell far short of mythical-level strength. The fact that it had lasted this long was already remarkable.

After recalling Swellow into its Poké Ball to recover, Rex focused back on the battle.

He didn't immediately use healing items—he needed to reserve them for Diancie and Shaymin, where they would have greater impact.

Now, only with the combined efforts of Diancie and Shaymin could they barely hold off Tornadus. The situation had taken a turn for the worse.

Seeing this, Rex was deeply anxious, but he couldn't afford to panic. He had to stay calm and not become a burden to Diancie and Shaymin.

Unless outside help arrived, it was only a matter of time before Diancie and Shaymin were defeated. But with the storm surrounding them, who could possibly come?

Diancie, after all, had only recently evolved and still lacked control over her powers and combat awareness. Still, her formidable dual defenses made her the ideal shield against Tornadus' attacks.

Shaymin, in Sky Forme, launched repeated attacks from behind Diancie's cover.

Although Shaymin's attacks were significantly weakened before hitting Tornadus, they still had some effect—enough to keep it on guard and force it to divide its attention between offense and defense.

Repeated interruptions frustrated Tornadus to no end. It knew it was stronger than those two tiny Pokémon—yet still couldn't defeat them.

Finally, Tornadus snapped. Ignoring the damage from Shaymin's Seed Flare, it unleashed a powerful Leaf Storm infused with origin energy directly at Diancie.

Diancie had no chance to dodge the lightning-fast winds. She was enveloped in the Leaf Storm, its razor-sharp wind blades slicing at her relentlessly.

Unable to escape, Diancie activated Harden, enhanced with her own origin power, to resist the onslaught.

But the storm, infused with Tornadus' essence, was simply too powerful. In the end, Diancie couldn't hold on—she was ripped from the sky and plummeted downward.
