Dust filled the air as rocks settled. Aurora coughed, waving her hand to clear the cloud around her. The cave-in had separated them from Dante, but trapped them inside a small pocket of the mountain.
"Is everyone okay?" she asked, her silver eyes glowing in the darkness.
Tina nodded weakly beside her, the shared power drain leaving her tired but alive. Elias shifted back to human form, pulling Aurora close.
"I thought I'd lost you," he whispered, his voice breaking.
A groan came from the corner of their rocky prison. Aurora's silver light revealed a figure she hadn't noticed before—an older man with gray-streaked hair and a face that looked like an older version of Elias.
"Father?" Elias gasped.
The man who had once been Alpha Eli of the Silver Back Pride struggled to sit up. Blood stained his tattered clothes.
"Elias," he croaked. "My son."
