Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Goblin Tunnels

I saw the mechanism that made the floor split apart reform and I knew I had to get through the floor. I prepared a spell that is used to cause rock surfaces to crumble.

'Glarea Creo'

It wasn't an overly powerful spell so I had to cast it many times to slowly wittle away at the rock below until there was an opening large enough for me to enter through.

I was cursing the fact that I had not remembered the Goblin Tunnels entrance as it would take me 30 minutes to maybe an hour to make the hole this way. I could choose to use more powerful spells, but I don't want to alert the Goblins that I am coming so I have to do it this way.

.....

(30 minutes to an hour later)

As soon as the opening was big enough, I prepared a Moon Magic spell that I hadn't used in a while.

'Curso Perpendiculum'

This spell allowed me to run on walls at a 90° angle for a short distance. I used this spell to run on the slide made of dirt and rocks all the way down until I landed where I now remembered that the dwarves had fallen before being picked up by the goblins.

I actually heard some screeching sounds from the dark cavern below me, which I attributed to being either the goblin that attacked Bilbo, or Gollum attacking said goblin.

I was pretty sure Bilbo would be fine and with the Earth Magic spells I taught him, provided he is able to cast them, he will be even better protected against Gollum.

I listened for the other goblins and could hear their screeching in the nearby areas clearly echoing off the cavern walls. I made my way closer till the sounds sounded louder and louder and I was finally able to hear the Goblin King shout.

"I know that sword! It is the Goblin Cleaver, the Biter, the blade that sliced a thousand necks. Slash them! Beat them! Kill them!" He shouted.

"I DON'T THINK SO!" I shouted as I appeared behind the group of raging goblins.

"THE WANDERER! ITS THE WIZARD! KILL HIM!" The Goblin King ordered.

The goblins began to rush at me but I swung my spear through the air and knocked the goblins off the edge as they fell into the darkness of the caverns. At the same time I used one hand to cast a spell.

'Aspiro'

I then took a breath blew it out sending a huge torrent of wind at the goblins sending all the smaller goblins flying off the edge, the Goblin King only staying on the surface by coaching down and letting most of the wind pass his body.

But this spell is strong enough to even block the flames of a dragon, so how can it be enough. The wind eventually blew the Goblin King over the edge and I heard him scream as he fell, but I knew he would survive as unfortunately he landed through a couple wooden bridges that slowed his descent, I heard the bridges breaking as the giant goblin fell.

After my spell ended, an army of goblins began to make their way toward me and the still recovering dwarves. I slashed and stabbed with my spear taking out many of the goblins but I had to also worry about trying to protect the dwarves that were being attacked at the same time.

Just as I was going to stop a goblin from stabbing Thorin with it's goblin blade, there was a bright light and a powerful force that appeared and knocked all the goblins and dwarves down. I was able to remain standing by using my staff to create a shield.

I then saw Gandalf slowly walking up out of the smoke he created from his spell.

"Take up arms." He said slowly.

"Fight.....FIGHT!!" Gandalf said quietly at first before shouting to rouse the dwarves.

The dwarves were now even more glad as they had both wizard's back with them and they began a battle cry as they grabbed their fallen weapons and began to fight back along with Gandalf, who had rushed in to attack side by side with me.

.....

(With Bilbo deep in the caverns)

"What have I got in my pocket?" Bilbo asked his last question for the game he and Gollum were playing.

Gollum's reaction was not what happened in the books nor the movie, he got very angry and immediately tried to attack Bilbo as he was trying to change the rules by asking a question not a riddle.

Bilbo didn't have time to take out his swords so on pure instinct, he tried to cast one of the earth Magic spells I taught him.

'Creatura Lenta'

As he wrote the rune and chanted the spell, a mass of vines made out of the surrounding dirt, dust, and muck emerged from the ground and started to grab onto Gollum and bind him.

Bilbo didn't know it at the time but his entire body had been glowing in a sheen of green lines that criss-crossed all over his body.

[AN: Picture of how Bilbo looked while casting Earth Magic]

Seeing that the spell worked and in an effort to hide and escape as fast as possible, he cast another two spells I had taught him as he was leaving the area into a small gap he had seen behind him.

'Vitrum Elicio'

'Globus Pulvis'

The first spell conjured a wall of glass made from the sand on the ground around him. The glass wall was conjured in front of the gap Bilbo had escaped through.

The second spell Bilbo cast had covered him in a cloud of dust so he would be hidden even more from the creature he knew would be after him.

Speaking of Gollum, he had escaped the vines and was more than scared of what he called the magic hobittses and tried to grab his precious ring and escape but couldn't find it.

It was at that moment that he thought back to Bilbo's question and then assumed he'd stolen his precious, forgetting his fear of Bilbo he immediately gave chase having to find another way through as there was a wall in the original spot he was going to leave through.

Gollum knew the tunnels well so it was no problem to find another route.

A loud scream of could be heard by Bilbo and he heard it was Gollum and he was calling him a Thief.

Bilbo knew he had to be fast as the spells he cast were the only ones he'd actually practiced, not even thinking he'd actually be able to cast said spells.

Bilbo didn't know it at the time, but he had just become the second person in the entire world to be able to cast Rozahr's version of magic, until now only being Galadriel and Rozahr himself.

Bilbo could hear Gollum getting closer as his frantic screams were sounding closer and closer, he found a small gap where he could slip through but when he tried to get through, he was stuck because of his buttons.

Gollum had passed by but then slowly walked back and watched him struggle to escape with glee, his fear of the strange magic, long gone as he had found the person who stole his precious.

Bilbo eventually made it through the gap, his fear at seeing Gollum get closer, paired with his buttons breaking, allowed him to get through, the ring flying out of his pocket and onto his finger magically.
