Chapter 67 - CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE: I'LL BE GLAD

HYDE'S POINT OF VIEW.

I begin regaining consciousness and stir awake.

I jerk upright and look around;

-I am back in my room at the Reformation's hideout-

"Oh you're awake" a familiar voice calls to me from a corner of the room;

Faria gets up and strides over to my side;

-I gulp hard awaiting a reprimand worse than death-

"Well, Lord Fenice has a few things to say to you" she mumbles expressionlessly.

I look up into her white, empty eyes pleadingly but right at that moment, she turns to go;

"Faria, please...I know I let you down and I'm really sorry to have disappointed you..." I blurt desperately.

She shrugs and walks out of the door.

-I'm perfectly doomed, from Faria's response, I can already tell that there's no way she's going to let me off the hook for hindering her mission, her subtle disappointed silence is even more depressing than if she decided to yell at me and beat me up-

I feel at my head that has been wrapped with bandages with a sigh, then I get up from the bed;

-And just when I found somewhere I thought I belonged-

I have now reached the door, I pull at the knob dejectedly and walk out;

I meet the corridor empty and scarcely lighted as usual, but this time;

-Nobody is here to help me find my way-

HYDE'S POINT OF VIEW END.

NETYISHA'S POINT OF VIEW.

"Please don't misunderstand my dear Reverred Netyisha, it's simply a harmless exchange between a teacher and his students" he mutters in an empty, irritating voice.

I smile;

"I've always been thinking how fun it would be to roast that hideous smile of yours to ashes" I retort brazenly, my voice low and controlled.

He regards me with a smirk;

"Hearing that I've been in your thoughts makes me so excited Rev Netyisha..." he gushes stretching his arms out dramatically;

"Well then... let's play...I always relish trying new dolls"

With this he snaps his fingers, and suddenly shadows from behind him come alive, horrible snarling and the sound of scraping metal, two of his 'dolls' emerge.

The mere sight is enough to let me puke, they don't seem all that different from beasts safe for the fact that I can clearly identify the biological atrocities committed to prompt their existence.

One appears to be mostly a Mutant tiger, bony, jagged, bloodied with several limbs replaced with bits of other unfortunate creatures, it snarls and jumps about, sizing me up like a predator does it's prey.

The second is even more horrible; it seems to be like a cross between a gigantic turtle and a horse with at least nine legs

-I could never have imagined such a combination-

He chuckles, encouraged by my horrified expression;

"The tiger is fast as lightening and always hungry for blood..." he asserts rather conversationally; "But the turthorse is strong and vicious enough to push back a couple of effontery beasts...well shall we?..."

The tiger attacks first, stretching forth it's horrible claws to rip into me.

I don't flinch.

I don't release this flame as a wild fire, rather it erupts as a rather concentrated bullet of super hot inferno.

The unintelligent creature knows nothing much of dodging and falls dead after my bullet tears right through it's skull.

The creature doesn't shriek, but it lets out a single agonised groan that sounds almost human.

I watch as it's dessicated flesh turns to ash.

Nox's smile has disappeared;

"It's only what I'd expect from a Rank 2 Reverred" he blurts, panic streaking his expressions.

The torthorse comes at me in heavy thudding footsteps;

-Burning something so large would be a waste of energy, it's best I target the source of power itself before he has the chance to send another creature on me-

The torthorse draws closer and I stretch out my arm releasing a whipsplash of fire past the mutant.

Nox barely has time to register what hit him, his eyes are only widening when the fire tears through both the hands he uses to control the beasts.

A scream of utter anguish tears from Nox's throat and the smell of burning human flesh and clothes is acrid.

He drops to his knees gazing at his disfigured hands in anguish and panic and his creature disintegrates to a disgusting assemblage of biomass.

I step to him in quick strides.

He stumbles back in frightened horror as I approach him, clutching his dilapidated hands to himself.

I crouch to his level and pat his head familiarly.

Seeing the expression on his face right now is enough to evoke pity.

I turn to my students who are watching with absolute awe.

The fight barely lasted up to a minute.

NETYISHA'S POINT OF VIEW END.

CAMADA'S POINT OF VIEW.

Rev Netyisha is amazing...are there even people more powerful than her?

I can't appreciate Taki, Sesugh and Yal enough.

Taki is currently helping me walk, since healing myself earlier drained my energy.

"Rev Netyisha... what happens to Mage Nox now if I may ask?" Taki questions Rev Netyisha politely.

Her face is thoughtful;

"The suitable punishment would be hand him over to the Government HANGMEN for attempting to mess with students lives, but..." She pauses uneasily;

"I don't think he has the capacity to cause trouble anymore, plus I heard that people pray for death after encountering them"

Rev Netyisha must be a very kind person, for choosing mercy over justice, if I had the chance;

-I would make sure that monster Mage Nox never sees the light of day again-

"I was sure you ran away abandoning us Yal! But you proved me so wrong!" Taki suddenly proclaims breaking into the ensuing silence.

Yal shrugs; "I was actually running, I just happened to meet Rev Netyisha on my run...also don't forget what you're owing me for helping you on your mad mission" he blurts matter-of-factly.

Taki and I exchange glances;

"I'm owing him a week's worth of pudding, which I'm never going to pay for anyway" she whispers to me with a snicker, we erupt in laughter and the others just stare at us wondering.

We part ways and Taki and I trudge back into our rooms;

"I'm really happy you're alive Camada, would have hated to lose such a friend, also...thanks for bringing me back to life" she yaps.

Although I feel weird to admit it, I have to acknowledge the fact that I'm gradually understanding how nice it is to have friends around.

CAMADA'S POINT OF VIEW END.

HYDE'S POINT OF VIEW.

Somehow I find my way to the meeting room in record time.

For some reason, I don't stall at the door in utter dread at the fate that awaits me.

-The concept of death is not new to me-

I reach forward and knock on the door.

"Come in" an unfamiliar voice calls from within.

I take a deep breath and step in;

As usual, everyone is sitting round a table, and I'm the only alien.

I look down, my hands clasped, my heart beating unsteadily.

"Hyde, well what do you have to say for yourself?" Lord Fenice says with a cold tone breaking into the silence.

"Lord Fenice, Faria... everyone, I deeply apologize for jeopardising our mission and risking everyone's lives... please forgive me".

-SILENCE-

-DISCOURAGING SILENCE-

I literally want the ground to open up and swallow me right now, and I can feel eyes boring into me;

"Well, allow me to be the one to announce to you that ..." Lord Fenice pauses and the pressure nearly gives me a heart attack.

Suddenly, someone bursts into laughter, I look up sharply,

-A new, unfamiliar face-;

"I'm sorry, I couldn't hold it in..." He gushes.

-He is a peculiar looking individual and looks quite normal safe for extra pointed ears-

I just stare blankly.

-Now I'm completely belwidered-

Lord Fenice comes up to me with a wide smile, he reaches me and pats my back;

"Congratulations Hyde, you failed the first test but at least you passed the second test and that's what really matters..."

Faria smiles;

"You failed the first test of obeying my instructions , but you obeyed the second test of not abandoning us no matter the conveniences"

-WHAT?-

"But the ambush was NOT a setup" Skunk asserts from across the room.

-Wait, he was in on it too?-

I just stare at them, not knowing if to celebrate or to feel ridiculous.

"For now, just be glad" Lord Fenice whispers to me as if reading my thoughts.

I turn to Treya, she evades my gaze;

-Of course, why would she be so invested in helping me if she wasn't instructed to?-

Pointy ears walks to me and takes me by the hand

"Allow me to introduce myself properly... the name's Bind" pointy ears mutters in a friendly manner.

-I think I remember Faria saying something about Bind's chains being nearly impossible to break past earlier; so this is him?-

He is slightly shorter than me and has a cheerful smile.

And suddenly the previously dense atmosphere becomes cheery and lighted-

-Yup, I'll be glad-
