Asmodeus silently stood in the centre of the forest, around him the beautiful flora and grass reverting to its previous grace. He glanced back at the party before suddenly covering his face with his palm.
Black veins bulged under his flesh as a thick, rebellious energy seeped through his body from the Lich's essence he devoured. "Ngh..."
He bit his lip with both hands clenched tightly, his teeth sinking deeper to create a sharp pain that overwrote the dull ache in his arms, throat and legs. It almost felt as if something was blocking the blood from travelling through his veins.
The pressure built, causing his neck and chest to turn red, while the muscles in his arms undulated and cramped.
"Phew..."
With a deep sigh, he calmed himself.
"Lad, is everything over?" Logan shouted from the opposite forest, his low voice barely entering Asmodeus's ears as he struggled to maintain a normal expression.
"Yeah, it's fine. Let's hurry and get ready to keep moving."
