At midnight, Wei Anning returned to the apartment, her heartbeat still irregular, the temperature on her cheeks never dropping, and the man's breath still lingering on her lips.
She leaned against the door, gazing blankly into the dark room. How had she managed to turn the situation into such a mess again?
She rubbed her forehead, and after a moment, slowly started to head upstairs.
Just as she reached the bedroom door, the guest room door across from her was pulled open from the inside. Eden, looking sleepy, leaned against the door, "You're back."
Wei Anning nodded, "Why are you still up?"
"You went out in the middle of the night, I was worried." She yawned, her eyes glistening with tears, "Seeing you return safely eases my mind. Goodnight."
Watching her close the door, Wei Anning then entered her bedroom. She sat down on the bed, pulled back the covers, and lay inside, staring at the ceiling, without a hint of sleepiness.
