Xu Lai was sunbathing in the backyard when he suddenly sensed something. A smile spread across his face as he walked to the entryway.
Opening the door, he saw a sixteen-year-old girl standing awkwardly outside. When she saw the door open, she hastily pulled back the slender, snow-white fingers she was about to use to ring the doorbell.
It was Chong Yang, the current matriarch of the Chongming Bird Demon Race.
Chong Yang began, flustered, "Emperor—"
"Hm?" Xu Lai raised an eyebrow.

"That's better." Xu Lai nodded in satisfaction. "Why are you just standing there spacing out? Come on in. You can grab some slippers yourself."
Chong Yang entered the living room.
Xu Lai chuckled. "When you left last time, Ruan Lan was so disappointed. She said you two had made plans to eat crayfish together."
