During the outbreak of the great calamity, Cloud Continent first experienced the pollution of the Spirit Vein, which was then discovered by Li Zhirui. In order to gain merit, he took action to purify several places of evil.
But in the process, he found the situation here to be extremely complicated and far-reaching, with other Profound Immortal cultivators obstructing him, so he planned to leave.
However, in order to prevent the eruption of evil filth within Cloud Continent from affecting the neighboring Mingzhou, Li Zhirui spread the Lotus Seed Skill far and wide, attracting a large number of loose cultivators and low-level cultivators to come and purify and resolve the evil filth here.
As for what happened afterward…
Li Zhirui was not very clear, only knowing that after those Profound Immortals left Cloud Continent, they headed north, and later heard that when they departed, they massively drained Cloud Continent's Spirit Vein, leaving almost nothing of its source.
