I walked into the Adventurer's Guild with Solution at my side. The morning air carried the usual buzz of activity—adventurers discussing quests, haggling with merchants, and boasting about their exploits. The scent of ale and sweat mixed in the air, making the place feel as alive as ever.
Approaching the quest board, I scanned through the available requests. Normally, I wouldn't be able to read this world's language since it wasn't Japanese or English, but thanks to an artifact I had brought from my system, I could decipher the words with ease.
"There's nothing good here," I murmured, my eyes trailing over the list of mundane tasks. Most were low-paying requests—collecting herbs, hunting small monsters, escorting merchants. None of them were worth my time.
Solution remained silent beside me, but I could see the wide, satisfied smile on her face.
I knew exactly why.
Even now, as she stood there, her womb was filled to the brim with my seed. The thought made me smirk. Yeah, she was freaky, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Just as I was about to turn away from the board, a voice called out to me.
"Hey, you two. You looking for work?"
I turned to the source of the voice and immediately recognized the group standing before me. Five adventurers, all wearing the standard gear of low-ranked warriors, stood together with confident smiles. Their leader, a young man with short dark hair and a friendly expression, was Peter Mauk, the leader of Sword of Darkness.
So, I was already meeting them, huh? I remembered them well from the anime.
Peter stepped forward, giving me a once-over before glancing at Solution. "I saw you checking the board. Not much there today, huh?"
"Not really," I replied, crossing my arms.
"Well, if you're looking for something to do, we might have an offer," Peter said, gesturing to his party. "It's not an official guild quest, but there's been an increase in monsters in the forest near E-Rantel. We're planning to hunt them down before they become a problem. It's a good chance to earn some coin since the merchants and local lords will pay for proof of kills."
I glanced at the rest of his group. Lukrut, the blonde archer, was grinning as usual, his eyes flickering toward Solution with interest. Ninya, the group's magic caster, looked at me with a mixture of curiosity and caution. Dyne, the druid, and the heavily armored warrior Brita both seemed neutral but observant.
Hunting monsters, huh? It wasn't a bad idea. While I didn't necessarily need the money, this would serve as a good opportunity to gather more information and test my abilities in this world. Plus, since it wasn't an official guild quest, there wouldn't be any unnecessary eyes watching me too closely.
"And what kind of monsters are we talking about?" I asked.
"Wolves, goblins, maybe a stray ogre or two if we go deep enough," Peter answered. "Nothing too dangerous, but enough that regular travelers would struggle against them."
Solution tilted her head, her smile never fading. "And how will we be paid?"
"Merchants and noble houses will pay for proof of subjugation," Ninya explained. "Monster parts, pelts, and materials can be sold to craftsmen as well. The more we kill, the more we make."
I considered it for a moment before nodding. "Alright. We'll join you."
Peter grinned. "Great! We were about to head out soon. Do you have everything you need?"
I rested a hand on the hilt of my sword. "I'm always ready."
With that, we left the guild, stepping out onto the streets of E-Rantel. The morning sun had risen higher, casting long shadows over the cobbled roads. The scent of baked bread and roasted meat wafted from the marketplace, but we had no time for distractions.
"Do where are we going to hunt." I asked.
"we'll be heading south and looking around this area."
His finger moved from the center of the parchment to the vicinity of the southern forest.
"We'll be hunting monsters in the forest bordering the Slaine Theocracy. The only creatures who can hit the back line are Goblins with magic items that grant flight."
"However, we won't get much for killing such weak monsters."
I nodded.
"Could you tell me about the pay for this?"
"Ah, yes, that's right, the payment is very important. Basically, since Alex-san's team and our team are working together, the plan is to split it evenly."
"Going by the numbers in our teams, it seems awfully generous."
"However, when the monsters appear, I hope you and Solution-san will take half of them as well. We can only use spells of up to the second tier. So when we factor your abilities in, that division of the money seems quite logical."
I pretended to think for a while before nodding his head in agreement.
"I have no problems with that arrangement. Then, let us fight shoulder to shoulder. Do you have anything else to ask me?"
"Me!"
A hand shot up toward the sky. That hand belonged to Lukrut.
After making sure that nobody else was asking a question other than himself, Lukrut cheerfully asked Solution:
"What kind of relationship do you two have?"
Peter and his people had picked up on Lukrut's intentions.
"...We are Lover."
And that was enough for Lukrut excitement to die down.
