After the two crawled through the opening, they discovered a narrow corridor that could only accommodate one person at a time. Fortunately, the space was sufficient for a person to walk upright inside. To the right of the corridor was a dead end, whereas the left led to a downward-leading metal staircase.
Holding their guns tightly in one hand and flashlights in the other, they cautiously proceeded to the left side of the corridor and reached the staircase's entrance. Instantly, their view widened.
Below the staircase was a large empty space, in which stood a rectangular room. The two exchanged a cautious glance, then slowly descended the stairs to investigate further.
Robert Johnson and Mark Wilson carefully descended the staircase, arriving slowly at the sole iron door on the right side of the room. They exchanged a look filled with tension and anticipation, then gently pushed open the partially ajar iron door.
